Exactly how long does it take to plan a WDW trip? For most people, maybe 5 or 6 months. For Clan Mills it’s 11 ½ months.

May I say...only on page two and loving this report.....but I have to say, I am torn in showing my husband a picture of your wifes closet.

First, why I don't want to show him....this may be one of the neatest closets ever. Mine is not so neat. Husban is a neat freak.

Second....why I want to show him.....there is someone with at least the same or more shoes than I have!

OK I going back to read more!

We cancelled our ADR’s b/c basically our son is starting to rebel against the restaurants.

DD is crushed and crying. I feel like it too.

Buzz’s Commando schedule is killing me, helppppp. I’m exhausted.

Linnie - I just want to give you a great big hug :grouphug:

Buzz just now booked the sitter for another night so we have another night to ourselves before we go home. We talked about doing that last night and we got the same sitter so yahoo!! We have no plans, just going to walk around and sight see. Maybe do Epcot. :cloud9:

Yaaayyyyy for Buzz! Sounds like a sweetheart. You both deserve another night out. Enjoy.

Thanks for the update.

Linnie,

Just tell Buzz that it's time for a family evening in. You guys could swim or walk around the resort. One of my kid's fondest memories is the time they spent at the CBR, out on the walkway (bad, I know) playing with their swords. We had come back to the room early because it was raining buckets. Did you know that EPCOT has the worst water drainage of any of the parks? My shoes are drier after hiking a trail at Turkey Run, an Indiana State Park.

I just came across this trip report and I must say it is very entertaining. Keep the updates coming in -- your children are beautiful and it is wonderful to see how you support each other to get through the trying times at Disney. The "others" have arguments in front of crowds -- which makes for good entertainment some days.

Love the reports!

Buzz, Linnie, and kids,

Just have to tell you that this is a wonderful report. Just read the whole thing after hearing it from my sister on another board. I can't wait until I can read about MK.

We also have a vacation club (BW) and also stay at another hotel first before doing our week at our DVC. Although, we almost always stay at Allstars or if we can get good rates...a moderate.

We have been going every year for the past 13 years. My two children are now 10 and 12 and every vaxation we have a moment like you had the other night.....complete silence in the car (or on the bus) back to the hotel. Someone usually has a meltdown (and not always the children) and that day/night is over. I always hope it happens early in the trip, so we can get it over with and move on.

MDF --> oops! Now I posted under Linnie's log in! We're either tired or really stupid!! :confused3

I will repost!

Thank you. It's not so bad. We get used to it as Moan Boy has a melt down or close to a melt down every single day. When it gets bad, I toss in the towel. Usually we can control it. Like I said, it happened and we didn't let it ruin the vacation. We came home that night, put the boy to bed, and had a glass of wine out on the balcony. We sat there for hours talking and looking over the lake and Pleasure Island. It was just as fun as seeing the fireworks from a boat and it didn't cost me $200!

 <---Always cheers me up!

Thanks everyone for your posts and support. :sunny: It's really the only reason we keep going. However, you'd be surprised how much down time we have. We rarely stay in the parks longer than 4 hours. We swim every day but not longer than an hour. If we do more of either, the kids get just too darn tired. Moan Boy becomes a weapon when he's tired. :furious:

Hound is right. This is not how I felt just during this moment (getting the Fast Passes) but usually at just about anything I do. It's always ATTACK and trying to do things in some sort of "record". I know I know. I need help.

MK was great today and we do our last ADR dinner tonight. Chef Mickey's!! Woo hoo!! Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Picture Time!!

But NO! She's playing sick! I was left to amuse myself all day by going to Google Earth and looking down on Epcot & dreaming about the bratwurst at Summerfest and so forth...

I love doing that... they recently got a lot better pictures of the area south of World Showcase. Sort of like visiting, but from 25000 miles up.

Day 5 – We Switch Hotels – Still Live!

I never knew that the self-park at GF was across the street. What genius thought of that?!

I am so having fun reading this report. My friend left for WDW yesterday and I just got off the phone with her. I am so jealous and wish I was there with you. Between her calls and your live report though I am getting a good fix!

You probably know this but if not, I wanted to tell you Valet Parking is free with your DDE card. I ususally make my 50 bucks back with that alone!

Uhm, NO, I didn't know that *smacks head*. :furious: I paid for parking at the parks for years even though I had Annual Passes. I always miss something!

Oh no - that is a shame that you did not realize that! It is such a nice perk to the DDE! I've paid for mine in just the valet fees!

I hope you had a good time at Chef Gickey - I mean Mickey's tonight.

Your pics are wonderful... how did LTP put the margarita down long enought for a cuddle - those things ROCK!

I just couldnt' let this beautiful day pass us by and we went to AK - when the temp is under 80 - it's time to hit AK. DD was out of school with a little upset stomach this morning... (it was gone by the first bell of the morning of course)...so I took 1/2 day vacation day and headed to AK.

Day 7 – MK – The “All Disney, All the Time” Diet

How do you spend 6 days in Walt Disney World without going to Magic Kingdom?

Easy! We will only travel to this park using Disney transportation. Those that drive then park and take the tram, only to have to then jump on the boat or monorail are out of their freaking minds!! Let’s face it. That’s 45 minutes, minimum! ...plus very irritating!

So, since we stay off-property for the first 4 nights, we cannot go to MK. Since going to MK on a weekend is insane (or any park for that matter), our very first opportunity to hit this beloved park comes on Monday (today). So, we did! (We also hit MK tomorrow, and Thursday for Extra Magic Hour – Morning).

The kids loved it!. It was one of those amazing days that you dream of. Walked to the bus stop just as our MK bus arrived. Walked into MK and got to watch the Grand Opening of the park. Was the first person to get a stroller and were the first ones to ride the Roller Coaster Train (Big Thunder Mt RR). Not only that, we rode it twice without getting off since nobody was in line. Rode the new Pirate Ship (Pirates of the Caribbean) with Capt. Jack Sparrow and we all liked it.

We also rode Peter Pan, Goofy’s Barnstomer, TeaCups, Carousel, Splash Mountain, TTA, Buzz Lightyear and so on.

Had a burger at Peco’s Bill and was really disappointed by the kids menu. Here are your options:

1) Cold Chicken w/ grapes
2) Sloppy Joe w/ carrots
3) Sugar Free Yogurt.

What moron came up with these selections!?!?!?! I mean, give me a break! Throw in some fried chicken strips or mac-n-cheese for crying out loud. Gimmie a hot dog with some corn on the cob. Something!! The person in charge of the kid’s menus obviously doesn’t have kids. What a joke! We got Loud Girl a big cheeseburger for adults and Moan Boy nibbled on fries from everyone else’s meal. No, he won’t eat a burger.

Let’s look at some facts here. Disney announced they are going to have healthier menus. That’s fine. But they also need to offer items that kids will actually eat. I know that all kids are different and some will eat healthy food. Heck, Loud Girl ate her healthy meal and was fine with it. However, the next time she wanted something different & has never ordered it since.

You’ve seen my kid’s pictures. They are skinny as rails and very healthy. They eat home cooked meals most of the time when we’re home. Mom grills food and makes homemade food she knows they like. If we want to fatten them up a little with some unhealthy food, shouldn’t we have that choice?

Ok, Ok. I have gone on too long about this. I will move on. :rolleyes2

To cap off the perfect park visit to MK, our bus was waiting for us as we walked up to leave. How often does that happen?!?!?!?

Saratoga Springs Resort has a couple of pools. They have the MAIN pool with a slide, lifeguards and toys to rent. They also have two or three other mini-pools with hot tubs that are quieter, have no slides or lifeguards, but are beautifully landscaped. Ours is also by the lake and Downtown Disney so the view from the pool is VERY nice. This is the pool we went to after MK.

It was actually cool for once. All the pools we go to at Disney are so hot. This pool was cool & refreshing, had four Stone Frogs with water shooting from their mouths into the water, plus the gorgeous view of Pleasure Island and the lake. It was almost too good to be true.

Since there were other guests, and a big sign that says no diving or splashing, I couldn’t enforce my will on the family via my “Artillery Splash Technique”. I did mimic the Stone Frogs by filling my mouth up with water and spitting it on my wife. Her reaction is what you’d think. She has the sense of humor of a constipated boa constrictor. :duck:

Speaking of constipation, exactly what is in the food down here? We’ve been on the “All Disney, All the Time” diet. Like Atkins, it’s high protein. Unlike Atkins, it’s also high Carb, high Fat, and high French Fry.

Because of this unique vacation diet, “our” bodies are changing. When I say “our”, I mean everyone but Linnie The Pooh-A-Lot.

The kids and I haven’t seen a toilet since we got here. Fine by me! It’s so inconvenient anyway, I don’t mind. The kids don’t even notice either.

Linnie, however, can’t seem to pass one by. My unique and complicated “Touring Plan” for each park includes many visits to the bathroom for the wife. On one “Touring Plan”, I actually have two scheduled bathroom visits in a row as I know there is a good 30 yards between the attractions we are supposed to see. Here’s an example from MK today:

Step 1: Arrive at Magic Kingdom

Step 2: Find toilet for wife

Step 3: Walk towards Cinderella’s Castle.

Step 4: Find toilet for wife

Step 5: Start looking for another toilet for pending emergency

Step 6: Try to ride Splash Mountain

Step 7: Instead of riding Splash Mountain, find toilet wife.

You get the point. I will say this though. I now know where every single bathroom in the world is and the shortest route to get there. You're sure to find the trampled remains of some unfortunate park guests who happened to be in my wife's way.

When I was in the Army, the government fed us M.R.E.’s (Meal, ready-to-eat) for meals when we were in the “field” doing maneuvers. The MRE was laced with something that constipated us. Like I said, fine by me. My point is this, does Disney do the same thing? If so, why?

It’s probably just a change in our diets but it’s been a little funny. We don’t feel any different, we just have a lot more time on our hands when we’re not standing outside every bathroom in Disney World waiting on mom to come back out. Maybe she needs to start eating fried chicken strips with the rest of us and pass on the broccoli. I can’t even eat a vegetable that isn’t breaded and deep fried!

We went to Chef Mickey’s tonight for dinner. Excellent! We’re back to the parks being ½ full and the hotels being empty. We showed up at the restaurant at 6:20 pm and it was about 2/3 full. All the characters had filtered thru within 30 minutes of our arrival. The only glitch in the evening is the picture they take of you prior to going in. We never received ours. No big deal to me. Our only question was whether or not this picture was free? Anyone know?

Moan Boy was great at dinner but started to get testy near the end. We paid up and got him out of there.

Overall, a great day. :thumbsup2 On the Mills Scale of 1-10, I give it a 9. If we had gotten the picture and visited one less bathroom, it would have been a 10. MK was really empty which is so nice. You're able to actually enjoy the park without rushing about and weaving in and out of human traffic. I hope it's like this tomorrow.

Temp is around 75. Cloudy this morning and sunny after lunch. A perfect weather day. :sunny:

Like was posted above, a real good day for AK since that is by far the hottest park (hardly no indoor queue lines).

Later!

Don't worry about the pictures. They come in a package for $26.00! We never got ours in September either! We were there for about an hour no pics and noooo Mickey! Heck I would have settled for Gickey after an hour!

Glad you had such a great day.

I saw on the weather channel, Atlanta Georgia is having a freeze warning tonite and Orlando, a low of 45 with tomorrow only reaching, "gasp" 70. Have fun at AK. 70 in my book sounds quite balmy at this time of year in Wisconsin.

I have a little nephew that is Autistic, plus has Tourette's. His autism isn't severe, but he can swear like a WWII sailer. The little guy is 8, I read every thing I can and help my sister out. We once rode the train at the MK for over 2 hours, his fixation is trains.

Bless you and your wife, you are doing a great job with dealing and knowing. It isn't easy and I am only the aunt, not the parent.

Looking forward to your updates.

You all had a great day! Poor LTP.

I was secretly wishing for MK - that is my favoritest place - but knew the right place was AK.... I'll do MK, EPCOT or MGM in the heat - but NOT AK!

Some great pictures there! Adorable children :sunny:

Will you be posting some pics of your resort? I'd love to see it.

Can't believe Loud Girl loves sauerkraut! Most kids would pass on that.

LOL at the toilet bit.

We LOVED Chef Mickeys and the character interaction. Didn't get our pic taken though - asked about it at the end of the meal and they said we could go over but since I had already purchased so many pics I decided against it. Besides we had taken lots in the restaurant & didn't need it.

Looking forward to your next post.

I understand your wife completely!

My sons asked me "Mom, are we doing the Rest Rooms of Epcot Tour this year?"

They get fed up at having to wait for me. but hey, I am the one with the cash, so deal with it. ;)
I am really enjoying your trip report.
We'll be passing you - arriving Friday!

My sons asked me "Mom, are we doing the Rest Rooms of Epcot Tour this year?"

I suppose it could be worse....they could have one of those gift shops ya gotta walk thru when you exit the restroom. :teeth:

I'll post some tomorrow. You can also see them at Disney's website where there is a Virtual Tour of the rooms.

Saratoga Springs Virtual Tour

Look at the picture and in the lower right hand corner you will see a button that says "Take the Virtual Tour". Click that and begin.

Here are a few more pix from Sunday and Monday.

WDW200656.JPG

Like I said, there’s nobody here. This is after Splash, BTMRR, and PofC. Around 10 am I’d guess.

WDW200659.JPG

Every year we get this “shot”.

I get a toy. Mickey is looking a little menacing here.

This is the mini-pool near the lake and Downtown Disney.

A rare moment for Loud Girl. Her mouth is actually closed! ;)

From one OCD to another...this is the nightmare my family faces...

We bring our printer. When back in the room, download the pictures to the laptop, print on the printer, cut and paste into kids scrapbook pages.

The next day (or whenever) they fill in the pages with description and that way they arrive back at school with their scrapbooks done the first day back...that'll fix any teacher that thinks kids can't learn on vacation.

if the vacation is extra busy they can always work on the plane home or in the car ride...yes the drive CANADA is a long one!

Thanks for the great live report. Very entertaining to hear both sides of the vacation. Really appreciate the dedication to complete this while 'on-site'
