Thank you for the wonderful trip report thus far... I love the pre-pre trip stuff too! I also love the his & hers aspect!

I have to agree that Capt Jack's Margarita's are the best... there is just somethng about getting them from the little bar outside.

I've been in a DTD kind of mood all day, but refrained from heading over there .....now this has made it worse. I guess I know where we will be tomorrow afternoon!

I hope you have a great day moving on site. Enjoy your dinner at GF. DD and I love it there!!!

We won't be back there until Tuesday night around 6 pm (due to my militaristic schedule) but if you happen to be in the area, look us up!

Picture Time!!!

I love your TR! Montana Disney Fan and Linny the Pooh, you two are so funny! The fussin', the fightin', the feudin', whoa... that's MY family.

I feel your pain about being at Disney and not quite getting to use all those ADRs.

I hope that you guys get to have some more fun soon. Moan Boy should get more Test Track. More princesses for Loud Girl. More Margaritas (or beers) for the big people!

Rock on!

Montana Disney Fan & Linnie the Pooh,

What a great trip report. I have been cracking up all night reading the entire report. :rotfl2: Keep it coming!!

Day 5 – We Switch Hotels – Still Live!

This may feel rushed because, well, it is! :confused3

In the past, switching hotels has been so easy. For the last 4 visit prior to this one, we switched hotels around 9:30 a.m, always on Saturday morning, and were assigned a room right away.

This is so nice as we can get settled in, go shopping and stock the room, then hit the pool or DD Disney for lunch. We never even thought about NOT getting a room right away.

Well, they didn’t have any available and they have this new system where they give you your room keys, but don’t tell you your room number. You have to call a phone number they give you who will tell you if your room is ready and what the room number is.

We don’t like this system & judging from the horde of angry vacationers waiting at check-in, we aren’t the only ones.

The first three hours we killed at Animal Kingdom (10am to 1pm). It was hot. I mean scary hot. In the 90’s and humid. I was sweating just driving to the park. It was also very unsettling having all of our stuff in the car and no room assignment.

It’s now Saturday, Oct 21 and AK is packed. We already knew that MK and Epcot (F&W) would each be packed. MGM was an Early Entry park so that only left AK. Normally we skip the parks on Saturday. They are always jammed and not fun to be at. We use Saturday as a relax day and to get settled in our Disney “home”. Since we couldn’t do this, we were trying to make the most of it but were not succeeding in any way.

We finally threw in the towel at AK and went back to the hotel to see if our room was ready, and if not, go swimming.

Of course our room was not ready, plus the pool was jam packed. The PGA Golf tournament Funai Classic is going on so I think there may be some extra people in town for this. Remember though, so far up until today, the parks had been empty.

We swam, went down the slide and had fun in the pool for an hour or so then checked on our room. Still not ready. :sad2:

So, we went to DD Disney and let the kids eat at McD’s since they were starving. Mom and Dad had planned to hit Earl of Sandwich again but were too hungry to fight the mob to get there so we each ordered a Quarter Pound, no cheese. It tasted pretty good but we were starving so anything would have tasted good.

I called again and was told my room wouldn’t be ready until 6 pm. I asked for the manager. I was upset now but held my composure together. We had ADR for Park Fare character dinner plus an 8 o’clock Fireworks Cruse and had to get ready and go. The manager took pity on me and got me a room right away. We lucked out as the lobby was still full of unruly vacationers who looked ready for a rebellion.

We lucked out. The room is exactly what we requested. Top floor, view of Pleasure Island and the lake so we can watch the activities and the fireworks every night. It’s perfect and we really feel at home.

We made our Cinderella dinner and Loud Girl was very happy to meet her. She was so shy she actually turned red. The Golf Classic must have had a lot of people staying at the GF because that place was packed! I never knew that the self-park at GF was across the street. What genius thought of that?!

Dinner was pure mayhem. Children screaming and running around. Parents fed up, tired and getting cranky. Cast members trying to keep everyone in line & happy. The cast members were impressive though. Since we were on a tight schedule to make our Fireworks Cruise, they took Loud Girl to meet Cinderella for a private meeting. That impressed me a lot! :thumbsup2

Moan Boy was tired and completely lost it out at the boats at the GF Marina. I’m sure the other people were all relieved when I told the captain we were “out”. The manager felt my pain and refunded me our $200. That helped a little but we were all furious about not being able to do this cruise. We were really looking forward to it.

We had a good heart to heart with Moan Boy in the car on the way home and he had to go to bed once we reached the room as punishment. He slept about 11 hours last night and that really helped him today (Sunday). We’re not sure if his fit near the boats was related to his handicap or just a 7 year old boy who is tired. Maybe a little of both. In either case it’s not the end of the world. We’ll try it again next year with a different strategy. He just doesn’t do well after we eat dinner for some reason.

I only have a few minutes to write this since we just got back from the park and have to get ready for mom and dad’s big night out. We have a sitter coming from Fairy Godmothers tonight and we are going to really live it up a little. We’re off to Citrico’s then Pleasure Island. We always have a blast laughing at the Adventurer’s Club and dancing at 8-Trax. :dancer: I’ll post about the evening tomorrow.

No summary since there is no time. My militaristic schedule is starting to wear on us. I am going to cancel a few ADR as making the meal times seems to be a lot more trouble than it’s worth. It's important to me that EVERYONE has fun on vacation. We can't leave Moan Boy out so we'll adjust to fit his needs. Thanks for tuning it. :earsboy:

Later gang!

I'm so sorry your Saturday was so stressful. That is amazing that check in was so bad and you had to wait so long. I forgot about the Funai Classic, I saw them setting up for it last weekend and was supposed to make a mental note!!!

It was hotter than blazes yesterday, the heat even bothered me, and it normally does not... I could not even imagine being in AK - I don't go there willingly unless it is in the low 70s or less!!!!

I hope you and Linnie the Pooh have (had by the time you read this) a wonderful evening all by yourself. It's so wonderful that you plan that time into your vacation! I have never been to Pleasure Island (I have no life.. without my DD tagging along!)

The weather is due to cool off tomorrow, so hopefully you will have a nice relaxing Monday!

I'm glad we choose to stay around the house this weekend...

Thanks for the update!

Hi Buzz, Linnie & Family,

Great TR! I have been enjoying it. Sometimes throwing in the towel, even when it is hard to do, is the best thing for everybody. Good for you for doing the right thing!

Loving your TR and will be reading! Have a wonderful rest of your trip!

Just found your TR today, and am loving every word from both of you! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hey I'm from NY and I'd only mug ya for $10.00 .... but I'm from upstate...we're gentler here!

Day 6 – Epcot –“I am Man”

My 42” stride and 6’ of height allow me to move like a jungle cat through the gauntlet of vacationers milling around Innoventions East. Most are lost. Some are taking pictures of the fountains or Spaceship Earth. All are in my way.

I scan the crowd anticipating their moves. I dodge left around a stroller. I slide right avoiding the very lost Japanese couple. My pace is impressive as I cover ground between Test Track and Soarin’ where I’m off to get Fast Passes.

Alone, I’m able to move lithely through the forest of humanity. Gliding up the hill to the “Land”, I enter through the sliding automatic doors, feeling the rush of conditioned air cooling the sweat streaming down my temple.

As trained Americans will do, those in front of me walk towards the ride on the right side of the walkway. I pass them in fine fashion on the left side as only a few Brits will do.

Since it’s early, very few people are walking UP the stairs as I descend them, again on the left, and finally approach the Fast Pass ticket booths.

Eyeing the booths, my trained eye is able to spot the line that will move the fastest. It’s line #7. Even though there is a huge group camped there and looks longer, I am able to determine that they are together and that the matriarch will soon be done gathering the 23 Fast Passes it seems she’s after.

I settle in behind the herd and look at my watch. It’s the first chance I’ve had to admire my pace. 9:32 a.m.. In just under five minutes, I was able traverse Future World on a hot and humid Sunday morning. I smirk and nod my head ever so slightly. I am good. I am man. :smokin:

The gaggle in front of me is finished and it’s now my turn. As usual, I was correct in my assumptions having only waited 25 seconds to get my treasured Fast Passes.

After feeding the hungry machine and receiving my prized tickets I’m off like a shot and heading back towards Mouse Gears where my family peruses the merchandise. Unless I get back soon, they will surely break me.

I arrive to find them sitting near the “Cool Zone” outside Test Track. “Hey Gang”! I shout, waiting for the gush of admiration to spew forth from their lips.

Nothing! Not a “Wow, that was fast!” nor a “Geez, you just left!” Only “Hey dad, where to now?”. :confused3

Stuck again with the family in tow, we move every so slowly thru Mouse Gears like a tug boat pulling a freighter in Puget Sound.

Today is MY day. Yes, we already did Test Track to keep Moan Boy stable. Next will be Nemo followed by Soarin’. But, after that, it’s all World Showcase, Food, and some sips of wine. This is why we pick this time of year and this is why we’ve been coming for the past 9 years.

My question to you is this; why open WS at 11 a.m. if nothing is going to be open? We get to England at 11:10 and walk up to the Fish & Chips counter only to find it boarded up. I search around and locate a British Cast member who informs me that the restaurants don’t open until noon. What the heck good is that? It’s Sunday and the park is loaded up with locals along with the usual guests from abroad. Why not open up at 11am? Me and the mouse need to have words.

We head towards France and hit a Spanish kiosk that is open. Leave it to the Spaniards! I get my first taste of wine. My eyes roll back as the red liquid courses through my veins. :yay: We move on.

Strolling past Japan into the American Pavilion, we purchase F&W 2006 t-shirts. Now it’s time to hit Germany, have a brat and a beer, and let the kids play around the giant train set. Life is good. Dad is happy.

We eat, drink and are merry for the next few hours when we decide to head back to the room, relax, post a report or two, and get ready for mom and dads big night out.

We are going to Citrico’s for Dinner and then to Pleasure Island for a little fun. We’ve booked our favorite babysitter from Fairy Godmothers and we hope she’ll be able to make it. We’ve never used anyone else is our four previous visits with children.

Ok, advance a few hours forward. Our sitter couldn’t make it but we ended up with Stacey who was even BETTER!! Woooo Hoooo! The kids love her. Since I’m canceling most of the dinners for the week, we’re thinking of going out again on Thursday nite since the kids liked her so much.

Citrico’s was good. Not great. The service was great. The food was great. But you now know me. It ain’t the Cal Grille so I don’t like it.

Pleasure Island was fun. We partied, ate food, drank beer, :drinking1 and listened to ROCK music at the Rock n Roll Beach Club. :rockband: Fun!

Tomorrow is MK but the kids don’t know it. They haven’t even brought it up. I think maybe they’ve forgotten it exists. We’re so excited. We’ve been here almost a week and haven’t been to Magic Kingdom yet! What is wrong with us???

Thanks for the responses gang. Still no summary as it’s now midnight and I have to get up early for my babies and entertain the heck out of them.

Two Notes: Over the weekend, my Fighting Irish WON!! Wooo Hooo! However, my SeaChickenz lost! Boooooooooooooooo! To the lowly Vikings! What gives? :confused3

No Summary. I’ll Edit it later. Buzz

Boy, if any couple deserved a night out, it's you two! Have another . . . night out!

I know that this took place a couple of days ago, but I have to admire you guys for cancelling the Fireworks cruise when Moan Boy couldn't take it anymore. Some parents would have just carried on, but you guys bailed when the kids really needed some time to regroup. Bravo!

I hope you have a good day today. How can you go wrong at the MK? (Well, don't let that be the title of your next post!) I hope you get pixie dusted!

Marie

This is the only TR that I've been following. Your writing styles are great! Hope the MK day goes well, and that much magic is enjoyed by all! :goodvibes

I was just told about your TR by a fellow limey....
She's right-absolutely hysterical!!!
I love it!

BTW-doesn't everyone pack duct tape?

I see I missed quite a bit of reading over the weekend.

First let me say that I have no problems with you being a resort snob (even if you say you aren't :) ) because if I had the money, I WOULD be the biggest resort snob around :rotfl2:

It was great to see that you posted some more pics.

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your boat ride.

I have a quick question tho...why are you cancelling most of your ADR's?

Spending some alone time together sounds wonderful - and lucky your wee ones accept it.

Linnie - glad to hear you're feeling better.

Thanks again for the live reports. Keep them coming guys.

Great Trip Report!!!
And I love how both of you are commentating.....it's like TAG TEAM reporting! :cool1:

Can't wait to hear more! :smooth:

I am thoroughly enjoying your TR. Even better, I feel I have a kindred spirit in that you are also Montanans that LOVES Disney! If it makes you feel any better, we have seen several snow storms, and very cold temperatures while you are away. So, enjoy the warmth! And say hi to the Mouse for all the other Montana Disney Fans!

Great TR :thumbsup2

I can't beleive that you stayed away from MK for five days. I know your littles one are going to be so excited when they get there.

Ladies, this is the most accurate (& well written) description of how a disney dad thinks (& attacks) in the "World". It is also the way many of us manage shopping malls (when we're dragged there), outdoor sporting events or even our workday. We do NOT smell the roses....we accumulate life's toys & attempt (always) to conquer & destroy.

hound (i would have been down that left staircase with you dude!) :smokin:

I posted under Buzz's name by accident, above. We're sharing his laptop.

The following account is from my female perspective, not THE MAN thing Buzz has going on.... :sad2:

We cancelled our ADR’s b/c basically our son is starting to rebel against the restaurants. Disney seems like it used to be faster a few years ago-they rushed you in and out of the restaurants. Now it seems like they drag the meals out veeeery long and that doesn’t fly with Moan Boy. He wants to get in, eat, then leave. And it’s hard to keep him settled and calm if he has to wait. Don’t know if it’s disability or age. You just can’t reason with him though or talk him out of bad moods so it’s easier to keep peace for everyone to just bail on the ADR’s. Everyone gets too tensed and stressed when he is having an episode.

The Cinderella dinner was a good example of what not to do for us. First of all, Buzz was on the verge of having a mental breakdown over where the self parking is at GF. Things that don't make sense to him upset him. That militaristic need for order in all areas of his life was kicking in overdrive. Plus, he was nervous about making the boat on time-bad combo for Buzz: Nervous and Irritated. So we check in at the podium for dinner, sit down in the lobby to wait and after ten mins, Moan Boy starts to lose it so Buzz asks how much longer it’ll be. Oh, they could get us right in. There were TONS of empty tables in there-why did we have to wait at all? Since they got us in “early” they gave us to a waiter who had apparently a lot of other tables. It took nearly 15 mins just to get our waters. That really made Moan Boy mad. We got our wine at the end of our meal. It just wasn’t working out for us. Bad omen of things to come, we should've taken heed.

We try to find the boats for the Fireworks cruise and discover we’re about 20 to 25 mins early. Not good. The Boy is losing it big time. By the time Buzz pays and the guy hands us life jackets for the kids, the Boy takes off running away from me, shrieking and screaming. This is new behavior for him-he’s never done that before. So I go chase him down and give him a brief talking to. Buzz quickly re-evaluates the situation and as I am putting Trey’s arm through the life jacket, Buzz says, “Let’s cancel-we’re not going. We’re done for the night”

DD is crushed and crying. I feel like it too. During all this hullabaloo, she was making a friend over yonder. Now she doesn’t get to see the boat, fireworks or her friend anymore. We head out and try to think of how to handle the situation/punishment. I have to confess, I am a parent that would’ve forced him to do it. Thank God for Buzz. He knew it wouldn’t be fun and might not be too safe. I think I’m truly a very selfish person, I really wanted to see the fireworks. Maybe in a few years-the memory will be too fresh to try it again next year. We didn’t say anything until we got back to the hotel-we were all too upset and that is not a good time to be talking to each other. So we just decide to put the Boy in bed as a punishment. Now every time he starts to lose it, we remind him he can go home and go to bed and he doesn’t like that so it calms him down. To me, that’s behavior, not disability, but whatever.

AK is the hottest dang park. We were there for about 3 hours killing time and only did 2 attractions-the Safari and the Boneyard play area. Every year I wonder why I go to AK. I just sweat like a hog and get pretty irritable. Very irritable. Downright irritable. Cranky. :furious:

Epcot was fun. I love shopping and to make it up to DD for the blown fireworks cruise, I bought her some little princess toys for me, I mean for her. I love to play with them. I mean she loves to play with them. princess:

Buzz just now booked the sitter for another night so we have another night to ourselves before we go home. We talked about doing that last night and we got the same sitter so yahoo!! We have no plans, just going to walk around and sight see. Maybe do Epcot. :cloud9:

I really liked Citrico’s, but the bathrooms are so far away. I wish they were right in the restaurant. Great food though, I took a picture of mine. It looked very pretty.

PI was fun. We had a blast laughing and drinking our beers. I never drink beer so it was a special treat.

My summary:

Buzz’s Commando schedule is killing me, helppppp. I’m exhausted. :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:
