Wow I can’t believe we are finally here! It’s 7:40pm and our flight has arrived on time! We make our way through the airport to stop at one of the Disney stores to buy our activated PAPs.

“Hi, can we buy our premium annual passes here?”

Blank stare.

Oh boy, this is going to take a while.

It takes 3 CMs to figure out the whole process.
I don’t understand, it seems to be quite common for people to buy AP’s or PAP’s here according to the DIS. Oh well, perhaps it’s the night crew who are clueless. Twenty minutes later, with newly activated PAPs in our hands, T and I are on our way to pick up our luggage. I can’t help but think “Gee this is one expensive piece of paper I just bought.”

Our 3 pieces of luggage are the last ones left. The airport personnel had already removed them from the carousel. We drag them with us down to car rentals and find Alamo. No lines! No hassle! I’m so very happy everything went smoothly after all the negative reports I had read about Alamo. It takes us longer to choose a car that we want than signing all the papers at the counter. At that hour there are only about 10 or so Intermediates left so we (meaning T) choose a glistening white Toyota Corolla. Our 2 other options are a Daewoo or a Galant. I really don’t care, I just want to be on our way!

It’s so hot and humid. We roll down our windows and drive off into the night. About 25 minutes later we see that beloved sign.

We pull into the Wilderness Lodge, immediately agreeing to valet park the car because we are exhausted. We are hungry. It’s 9:15pm.

We check-in with a CM named Summer. I have a bad feeling about this. Horrible thoughts race through my mind. Oh no, we didn’t get any of my requests. When I first made our reservations (not ressies) I had requested a quiet room, on a higher floor, with best view possible. I compose myself and remember to ask about an upgrade to concierge. She tells us that all of the concierge rooms are booked. Dangit. This is not going well at all. She is still keying the computer and a few seconds later she tells us that we have been upgraded to a woodsview room. I instinctively look up to see if I can catch the pixie dust that is sprinkling down on us. She then tells us it’s a smoking optional room, but if we find that it bothers us, we can call down to the front desk and be moved. We thank her and are on our way in search of our room, walking by Roaring Fork and we see the elevator. T gets to the button first (of course) and we make our way to the 6th floor. Yes, sixth! I guess I got at least one of my requests! We enter our room (6014) with our cute Tinkerbell room keys, throw our stuff down and I run to open the curtains. I see Cinderella’s castle straight in front of us through the trees. I’m officially in giddy mode. I repeatedly tell T how cool this is and how lucky we are that we got this view. He doesn’t get it, he just wants to go get some grub. Fine, but I am smiling to myself (as you keep reading you will find that I do this quite often). The magic has started!

We head downstairs, soaking in the grandeur of that wonderful lobby. It is so cozy, even in the middle of May. It’s 9:40pm and we stop by the Whispering Canyon Café.

“Is it too late for us to eat?”

“No, come on in!”

We are seated immediately.

Our waitress is decent. No funnies really, but it was late. I order the ribs and T has the nachos. Both are tasty. We split both items which is a great idea since it wasn’t too much food for such a late dinner. Cost: $38.60 tip included.

We stop by Roaring Fork on the way to our room so I can get my mug (even though I don’t drink coffee or soda) and some bottled water. Cost: $13.96.

We immediately fall asleep. We know we have a very long day with an early morning tomorrow at the Magic Kingdom at Cinderella’s Royal Table!

You certainly came a long way. I am looking forward to the rest of your reports.

We were in room 6012 at WL last December - right next door! So I know exactly what you mean about the wonderful view!!

Kaycee, wow what a small world! I guess we were kind of next door neighbors in a way. :p
