On the recommendation of this thread, I bought the Monistat. Pardon, allow me to restate. I had the nice cosmetics head lady at CVS ripping apart the feminine care shelf looking for "the chafing jelly from Monistat." She couldn't find it, but Byron, the assistant Pharmacist with a fro that would've made Russell Simmons jealous, found it immediately and then asked me (5'4", 138 lbs) in a whisper "about the chafing," looking at me up and down in a clinical fashion in an attempt to determine where I could be chafing. This entire incident was a priceless suburban moment for me. I was laughing so hard on my way out that I had to stop to catch my breath. It was brilliant.

I look forward to applying non-feminine-jelly to my eyelids tomorrow. More to come.

OMG! :rotfl2:

I'm telling you. That first hunt and purchase of M'Stat is always a lot of fun!

I have stupid questions about mineral makeup. I've been using the Everyday Mineral samples and am getting used to it. When I run out, I'm going to buy the sample kit of Pur Minerals and give that a try since someone recommended it to me.

But am I doing it right? My routine:

Moisturizer
Primer
Concealer, mixed with water and applied as needed
Foundation powder, dry
Blush, dry

Then my regular eye stuff.

I dunno, the foundation doesn't seem to cover as well as I think it should... I put on several thin layers and then it looks a little cakey.

Am I doing it right? I watched a video on YouTube... but Bare Minerals has a bunch of other foundationy stuff that the EM sample didn't have. Some veil stuff or something.

Help?

Sounds right to me. Wonder if you are using the right color? If it isn't the right shade, it doesn't seem to cover as well. If I get a little color on my face from the sun, but don't change the color of my foundation as well, I start to get the to light look if I put to much on, so I don't, but then I don't get the coverage I need.

Also, the mineral veil is almost like using powder to set your makeup. It really isn't necessary, but it does help set everything and "blend" your blush to really look natural. Also helps with shine control. Just like any other make up types, BM always has more stuff than you need and isn't all necessary.

:lmao: I am still laughing at this. Glad I was't drinking anything or else I'd be cleaning my computer screen.

Okay, that makes sense with the veil/powder step. Thanks for reassuring me :goodvibes I am not good at choosing colors but I just opened another one of the samples yesterday and it seems to be a better match. Maybe I need to mix some together to get the right shade.

I think there have been a couple of people that mentioned mixing shades to get it just right. I think EM also recommends doing that also. Did you follow the guide on EM to pick your right color? I did and came up with two shades that are almost identical, but one has more "pink" to it and that is the shade I needed. Here is from the Foundation FAQ on Everyday Minerals site:

HOW TO FIND YOUR FOUNDATION COLOR
By Miss Julie – From the Community

1. Do your daily skin care routine. Don't change anything unless you plan on changing it now.

2. Dip your finger into the foundation. Make a mark on your cheek downward with the color. Use a different finger for each color and keep track of where you put what. You can also use the inside of your arm if you want, the color is similar there, but your face is the best. If your neck is a different color than your face, and you want to match your face to you neck, use your neck instead. The area is a bit awkward, and you might have less room, but the rest of the tips are still the same.

3. Leave the foundation strokes on for A WHILE. JenahT added this suggestion: Leave the colors on for a few hours at least and wear them! Do your normal stuff, don't try to be delicate with the colors, you want to see what they look like on a daily basis, so it makes sense to do your daily stuff! Some colors will change slightly after a while, because of oil on your face, your moisturizer, sweat, etc. This is the reason for #1.

4. Take a very slightly damp washcloth and lightly wipe it on the areas you put the foundation on. The color might change a bit more, but if you CANNOT see one of them, THAT'S YOUR COLOR.

5. Use your sample jar for about a week (or until it’s low) before you order a big one. And even then only order a SMALL! (Unless you're getting a kit and have to order a LG, but a small kit is just as good as the large). Many people who use EM have to buy a different shade in the summer than what they wear in the winter. So you might be wishing you hadn't just bought a full size foundation when you get that pretty summer tan!

If none of them match; rinse, repeat. You might need to start mixing shades too, just keep track of what you mix! Using a spices measuring spoon (Dash, pinch, etc) is the best, because the cups are very tiny and accurate. Mix two or three shades together too, finding the perfect shade is not an exact science!
You shouldn't be able to see the foundation, the other colors might be similar, but the one that pretty much disappears is your color. The EM Foundations won't come off with so little water, so no, you did not just 'wipe off' the colors. You might find that more than one are your colors, or you might find that, like me, you *thought* you were three colors, but no, there is ONE that matches PERFECTLY.

It seems like a lot of you gals use the mineral makeup for foundation. For those of you that use a liquid foundation, what brand do you use?

I use Ulta brand "Smoothing Foundation". It has dimethicone in it (that's the stuff in the primers and Monistat). I'm really happy with it and if I set it with powder (right now using Too Faced, "Absolutely Invisible) it lasts all day.

I went to Ulta today to use my 20% off coupon for the Smokey Eye kit with that strange looking brush. They didn't have it and looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for it. The one lady insisted that I was asking about some holiday kit and tried to push an angled eye brush on me. She said, "This is the brush they had in the kit. Uh, no it isn't. I wanted to say, "Funny, because Sephora has a whole display of these kits and has tons of them!" So I guess I'm going to wait until Sephora does this super "Beauty Insider only" discount and pick it up then. :headache:

I drove over to the mall later to check on the progress of my super close JCP Sephora afterwards  They aren't open yet, but I saw that they were stocking the shelves. I was told it would be open in May. :goodvibes

I used to use Revlon's Color Stay before everydayminerals. And if I ever went back to liquid, I would use it again. I honestly really liked it. And it did stay.

Bummer about the set. That stinks. :guilty:

But YAY on the Sephora almost completed! :yay:

I use Lorac Natural Performance. It goes on really nice with my Mac 188 and stays all day when I set it with powder.

Yay! I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm trying to go through all of it haha. :lovestruc

I love Sephora so much! It doesn't help that they send me e-mails all the time, I find myself in the store and at the website more than I care too. lol. I can only imagine if they got a Sephora in DTD. :rotfl2: I drive everyone insane with make-up as it is, never mind on vacation! haha!

Anyone use Clinique? :confused3 My skin suddenly became very sensitive, so I have to be careful of what I wear. I'm already thinking about what to wear to the parks during my trip in July! :rotfl:

I love the Clean line too. They smell REALLY good, but I love that linen/cotton smell anyway!

Hey - I was reading back through the thread and spotted this.

I have a Clean -Warm Cotton perfume I totally dont like. I should send it to you.

Ill message you on Facebook. :)

Cool! I love the whole Clean line- everything they make smells sooo good! I drive my husband crazy with all these cotton scents, I even have them as air fresheners in my house. ;)

Well I got the Monistat stuff today (finally remembered!)- they had a bunch on the shelf at my local Target AND it was on sale! :dance3: I'll try it tomorrow and let you guys know what I think! I even turned my Mom and Aunts onto it without trying it. :rolleyes1 My one Aunt actually used it already, but not for make up primer, ;) she is a nurse and works 12 hours a day and I guess it helps with her 'chub rub' (those are her words...:lmao:)

Makeup Divas, I turn to you...I need some makeup that will stay on in WDW summer heat-parks all day! I will skip face stuff but I'd like some eye stuff. What to you recommend?
After seeing my honeymoon pics from last Aug. in WDW:scared1:. I'd like to be able to frame a few from this trip. TIA!

I use www.everydayminerals.com - at the parks, with good results, but I'm super excited to try it with a Monistat face, too!!

We've already had one report back, that it lasted alllll day! :worship:

What kind of eye stuff do you mean?

I use my regular eyeshadow - with a primer (now I'll be just using Monistat, because it works for that - but used to use Too Faced Shadow Insurance) My eyeshadow lasted all day. No problems.

I use Too Faced Lash Injection mascara. I can't say enough good things about this stuff. IMO - it blows other's away. No running, no smudging - perfect lashes all day long.

And my liner has always stayed put using a gel liner (like MAC Fluid Line or Stila Smuge Pots)

HTH! :thumbsup2

I think I am going to have to go back a few pages and check out what's going on with Monistat!:rotfl2:
As far as eye stuff, I am looking for a good waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and some light shadow. I guess maybe a primer will help to keep it from immediately sliding off my facethe minute I leave the hotel room.
Seriously, dh put one of our hmoon pics up on Facebook. I was horrified. I control who sees what pics from FL in Aug.!

Bare Minerals eye shadow goes on very smooth and stays very well with using a primer (ie monistat chafing gel). Other than some Two Faced that I recently purchased, I haven't been using any other brands of shadow so I can't comment much.

Also, Mac Fluidline is a great eyeliner. Just be careful not to get to much on or it will smug a little - but not too much. If it can last thru a nap, it can last thru the parks - even in August. ;)

But, the most important thing to remember is you are at Disney, it doesn't matter what you look like, your having fun. :woohoo:

Too Faced Lash Injection is waterproof. You can barely get it off with soap. :rolleyes1

Has anyone tried the Tarte Health Couture 4-day stay? Good stuff?

Hello ladies!

Well, it took me forever, but I finally read through the whole entire thread. I have a list of great new products to try and of course, I already have monistat on my face.:lmao: I think I'll try the milk of magnesia next.

Speaking, of skin care, what lines do ya'll use that works well for oily/combo skin. I've been using the Clinique 3 step and it used to work great, but lately my skin has gone crazy with breakouts and such.:confused3 I'm thinking of switching to Philosophy. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, we have an Ulta opening here on Friday. I was all excited about it, until I read all the problems that ya'll have had there.:sad2: It's 2 hours to the nearest Sephora, so I can only order online from them. I was looking forward to being able to go into Ulta and see everything and try stuff on. Oh well, it's a store full of beauty products, I'll definitely be excited anyway.:thumbsup2

Thanks for letting me join in on the fun!
