I got the Too Faced Snow Bunny a few months ago and I tried really hard to love it but I couldn't get it to work for me. Everyone is different, one person's "can't live without" is another person's "wouldn't be caught dead in it".

I tried TF Snow Bunny as a blush, a luminizer, a bronzer, and finally in a desperate attempt to use it up, an eyeshadow. First, I felt like my face aged ten years everytime I put it on. It went over my skin and skipped over the wrinkles...so of course that was the first thing I saw after it was on. I think Snow Bunny is for someone younger (I'm 42). Second, it seemed really orange on my skin (medium skin tone, brown eyes, blond hair). Third, it never stayed where it was supposed to. It made it's way all over my face.

Since I've got the pan, I may give it one last chance when summer comes. But for glow, I love the smashbox softlights in shimmer. The powder is milled VERY fine. And it gives a "glow" more than a "shine". I like it much more. But it's not a bronzer.

:flower3:

Hmmmm....thanks for your insight! I think I will definitely try it out before I buy. They have the Smashbox there too so I can check out both.

:On blushes, everyone here is talking about NARS! Why do you love NARS?

Love NARS blush  it goes on very sheer. I use "desire" which is so pink in the container but is really light!

Ok, I have another concern...

Dryness under my eyes. I will be 50 this year. :scared1:

I have tried a few under eye moisturizers, but have to keep applying through the day, because it dries up on me.
I can't really even find a concealer that works because they tend to dry too!

Anyone have any tried and true products?

Currently I am using Lancome Renergie microlift eye, Bliss All Around Eye cream and the one that works the best is Boscia Enlivening Amino-Ag Eye treatment.

Keep switching off but am not totally happy with anything. HELP!

I like the NARS blush because it has a very natural look and goes on very easily. I barely put any product on my brush and end up with the right coverage, usually, without adding more. My favorite color is the "O" and from reading reviews I think that's a color that's flattering for many different skin tones/colors.

I like NARS in general. Their shadows are beautiful but again, a little goes a long way. I find them a little hard to blend once they're on.

I also have a gloss from NARS in Chihuahua. I love the color but it tastes nasty.

If you're looking online at Sephora, I think the NARS colors are way off. I have Star Sailor in the eyeshadow duo and it looks nothing like the online sample. The gloss I have isn't nearly as pink as it shows up in the sample.

I forgot to answer a question earlier, I think from Bella the Ball. I do try to use up my makeup. Some of the products and lines I like are expensive (at least to me) so I try to have a few different colors/shades that work for me and not tons of products. My makeup "collection" is actually quite small.

The one product I probably never use up before switching is eyeshadow. I have smallish, green eyes and I've still never found a "go to" shadow/color for me, so I tend to switch those a lot.

I was in high school in the 80's when makeup and hair were crazy! I go for a much more natural look today, but I still love makeup and products. If I were wealthy, I'd buy one of everything :)

LADIES, I NEED YOU!!

I am 38 years old with REALLY GOOD skin. Partially because I don't go in the sun a great deal. Anyway, I have NEVER worn make up consistently. So I have no idea what to use, how to wear it, or any of that. I now have 2 girls, 6 and 2, and they are GIRLS!! I have to hurry and learn so that they don't suffer my same fate!

My Mother NEVER wore makeup, except to weddings and funerals, and so she never taught me.

To make this worse, I can get most of the good stuff AMAZINGLY CHEAP! I buy from a lady who has the buyback contract on lots of brands I've never heard of, and then I sell on ebay. Could ya'll tell me where to start, maybe coach me through this?:flower3: :flower3:

PUHLEEEEZ!!!

Here is a small list of name brands I get pretty much monthly. Remember, I know what blush is and that is goes on your face, but some of these brands I've never even heard of. Oh, by the way, I have VERY fair skin and blonde hair, blue eyes.

SMASHBOX, PHILOSOPHY, PROACTIV, BARE ESCENTUALS/MINERALS, MALLY, MODEL CO(once in a while), ORIGINS, PETER THOMAS ROTH, CLINIQUE, ODON, DR DENESE, PRESCRIPTIVES, LAURA GELLER, BOURJOIS (once in a while).

I could probably request whatever, so could ya'll help please? I am guessing I need to start with some sort of cleansing/moisturizing?

I really am clueless!

I would start them on BM (just as I did with my nieces). It can look very natural which is so important.
Love Smashbox but I would be concerned because their pigment is so good it would look like overkill if they didn't know what they were doing.

**Something I would think about is having a professional make-up artist geared towards kids to have a little make over party with your girls so they can learn with the pro & have fun a the same time.
Not sure where your located but I may be able to help you with some names....
Would love to have your contact!!!!! So much fun!!!!:cool1:

I have 2 hair cuts today - and a color. I have to wait to go to ULTA. :(

I was being lazy this morning to get moving. Blah....

I do hair on the side - and am a Systems Administrator (Computer/Server dork) for my 'real job'. What do you guys do?

First of all, I am so jealous! Of all those brands my personal favorite is SMASHBOX so what I would do is go to the makeup counter at Macy's or Nordstrom or whatever department store has Smashbox and get a make up lesson. You'll sit in their chair and they will do your face in all their products. I haven't done this in a long time, but I think it's either free or $50 (but what you do is buy 50 dollars in makeup and then the makeover free). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about that. I know you said you get everything cheap but maybe look for something that you can't get from your friend.

I have two daughters 9 and 12 and I told them they can wear make-up when they are 13. I told dd12 when the she's 13, I'll take her to the store for a make up lesson. She is counting down the days till then.

Now, I don't know if I want to know this but can you get the smashbox "softlights" in shimmer??? That stuff is candlelit radiance in a box. :lovestruc How much do you pay for it? I just got it at Ulta for (gulp) $28! My personal $$ limit for each product is $30. So that's steep for me.

Thanks!! I have emailed my friend for her to keep an eye out on the softlights for you. I normall get the list on Tuesday or Wednesday nights, so I will let you know. Thanks so much for replying and being so helpful!

Actually, the lessons are for ME! My oldest did Bippity Boppity this year as Tink and was GORGEOUS!! But we probably won't let her consistently learn about makeup for a while. I am just trying to set a good example. I am in NC. PM me if you need anything, and thanks for the tip about BM! My kids have my hubby's pigment, and he is Native American, so they have fantastic skin and not as fair as mine.

OMG jealous! That's great!
The only ones out of those brands I've really used are Smashbox (my favorite of these), Clinique and Bourjois.

Your skin tone sounds about the same as mine. One thing I learned is to NOT let the makeup folks talk you into a shade that's too light for you. I have gotten stuck with so much ghostly makeup--I think they see us Nordic/Irish blondes coming sometimes and pull out the closest thing they have to white. If whatever color they put on my face doesn't at least match somewhat with my forearms too (which is usually the most tan part of my body, and that's not saying much) then it's too light and I ALWAYS end up hating the shade and returning it. MAC is about the only place I've been that they've hit my shades spot-on, they have fantastic artists.

I echo the PP, go to a counter and have them make you over so you can try lots of shades and such out before you get them from your friend. Just buy something so the artist can eat :goodvibes

I don't use any cleanser/moisturizer from department stores (too expensive for me, I am a Neutrogena/Olay/ROC fan, but thinking about that Revitalume someone posted!) but my mother used Clinique for many years and loved it. I have also heard some good things about Origins.

Thanks so much!! I think I will do this. We have an ULTA here but I have never been. Do they have the counters that do the makeover there? Or do I need to go to a Department Store? If so, which would be better: Macy's, Belk's? Thanks again!

I was lazy this morning too. Heck, I am still lazy :)

I teach theater in a high school during the day, and do a lot of musical theater and some gigs on the side. Right now I'm working on a theatrical project with a friend of mine which we hope will go somewhere!!! So I won't have to teach anymore!!! Don't get me wrong--teaching is valuable and I love my students--but it's not what I intended to do with my life. :teacher:

Anyone else?

I'm going to have to check out this NARS "O." this isn't the first place I've heard of it being fantastic. Oh, an excuse to go to Sephora.

I have the same problem and the one thing that has worked beautifully for me is unrefined coconut oil. You can get a jar for about $12.00 at any Whole Foods type store. It's wonderful....but make sure you get the unrefined, raw, extra-virgin organic coconut oil. I put a little around my eyes at night, and it does the job. The brand I use is called Garden of Life.

OMG - how have I missed this thread so far??? I  make-up! Sephora is like heaven!

BUT - I am looking for a new lip color. I like sheers only - plummy/wine type colors. I used to use one from Stila but it was discontinued a couple years back. Now I use CoverGirl LipSlicks in Hipster, cuz it's the only thing I could find that I like.

I'm looking for a change - there have got to be some good sheers out there - no goopy glosses tho. Any reccomendations? :worship:

The ULTA people don't really do the makeovers, they have little areas that you can try them yourself though. Macy's and Dillard's will, though, as will the MAC stores (obviously). We don't have a Belk in Tampa so I don't know...but there is one on the way to WDW :goodvibes Sephora really doesn't do full makeovers either unless they're having a special event.

Oooh have fun! I love getting makeovers!

I just wanted to mention how disappointed I am that I apparently can't wear Acqua di Gio anymore, unless I just somehow ended up with a bad bottle. It smells all chemical-y on me right now, though it used to be one of my favorite fragrances. I haven't worn it in probably 10+ years and reading this blasted thread ;) has been a very bad influence on me, so I decided today to buy a bottle and give it a go again. I got it at Kohl's (way closer than the mall); I'm hoping they'll let me exchange it for a new bottle to see if maybe this one just went wonky or something. :sad2:

I'm also a computer dork...I work for a huge bank, researching trends in their ATM network, specifically new installs that aren't working as well as they should be for whatever reason. Basically, I stare at spreadsheets all day long and crunch data and compile new performance reports and send witchy emails to vendors to tell them to get their butts out and actually FIX an ATM that's not working, not clear the 11th check jam of the day and then pronounce it good to go, stuff like that. It's actually a lot more fun than it sounds.

There are SO many!!! What shades do you like? Stila has some pretty sheers.

Oh - and welcome!! I love makeup talk!!!! :thumbsup2

Thats a shame. I hate when stuff doesnt smell the same on you, after a while. I remember years ago I loved Chloe Narcisse (do they still make that?)

All of a sudden one day I was like WHAT is that SMELL?!? It was *me*!!! :scared1: Smelled like butt. :scared:

ULTA ANGER

So - as someone previously mentioned, coupons are not allowed on 'prestige' cosmetics... the thing is, I swear on my mothers grave, that I was able to use those last year ON 'prestige' cosmetics.

I know those coupons started that way - but I thought they had stopped. Apparently they started again.

LAME LAME LAME! Who needs 20% off ONE 'non prestige - non salon - non anything good' item?? Seriously?? 20% a $6 lipstick is a whopping $1.20. LAME!!!!

Whatever....

PLUS - they could have told me LAST NIGHT when I tried to use my coupon (on 'prestige' items) but no. They said I couldnt use it until today. :headache:

That being said.... I still bought the Lash Injection set, my Bourjois lipgloss AND got a .01 free bare minerals sample, with a super cute, itty bitty Kabuki brush!

I'm divorced and studying to become a Surgical Technologist. I pass the instruments to the surgeon (among other things). Get ready for this I can only wear bare minimum makeup and absolutely NO nail polish or purfume when I am in the operating room :headache:. When I went to orientation and they told us this I almost said, "OK, nice knowing you." I see nurses with a full face on, but since I am a student they are more strict with me. If I show up with nail polish on, I'll get sent home. But it is really interesting work and on the bright side, it takes me about 30 minutes to get up and get out the door. Although by the end of the day I look like 20 miles of bad road. :scared:

Anyone here from Pittsburgh? I got some news! I went to Ulta (the one at the Plaza at the Point) to pick up the Lash Injection Layering kit. After that, I went to the Mall of Robinson 5 minutes away. This mall is about 30 minutes from my house. Anyway, as I was walking through the JCP I noticed a great big bare spot in the middle of the store, you know where they usually put the make-up department. I asked and you guessed it!!!! A Sephora is going in! No more driving an HOUR to get to the South Hills Village! :woohoo:

I know what you mean about Ulta's coupons. The good ones are so rare. One way I "test them out" is to shop online. I put what I want in the cart and put the code in. If it discounts, then it's a "good" coupon. I knew when I walked in I wouldn't get 20% off the Lash Injection. I needed a lighted mirror so I used it on that.

I rarely buy online though. I can't stand waiting around for my package to come.

I used to *love* Narcisse! I don't remember having seen it anywhere recently, unfortunately...that's one I wouldn't mind smelling again. It'd take me back to 1991 instantly. :thumbsup2

I read that coupon and was sad. Really--I can get the non-good stuff cheaper at Wal-Mart, so why would I want to get it at Ulta? Makes no sense. AND my Ulta didn't give me any free samples with my $40 worth of stuff I bought! That's why I like Sephora soooo much better.

Has anybody tried the WEN hair care line? I saw an infomercial for it yesterday while we were painting, and got intrigued. I have dry curly hair, so I'm always on the lookout for the perfect product.
