Now, I do have to warn you, the Monistat does make my face FEEL greasy at first. I think the tendency for us girls with oily skin is to use anything we can think of to dry it out and shy away from anything that adds moisture or shine. But I think you'll find that once you put on the foundation, it will mix well with the mosistat and look smooth and finished - not powdery and not oily. And best of all, it acts as a barrier and prevents the oil from breaking though. At least for me it does. :thumbsup2

I totally relate with that. I used to try to use every drying/mattifying product under the sun but I quickly learned it only made things worse. I'll definitely have to try the Monistat because that sounds exactly like what I've been looking for (and it's cheap!)

True. You kinda have to let it 'dry' before applying your makeup. Wait until it feels powdery.

Thanks for the tip. I've found that my foundation stays on a bit better when I let the photofinish actually "set" as opposed to when I'm in a big hurry and I just slather everything on quickly.

Arelys- I love Laura Mercier oil free foundation and her oli free primer.

I have tried a few Laura Mercier products (lipstick/lip gloss mostly) and have loved them, so I'll definitely look into the foundation. Thanks for the recommendation. :goodvibes

BTW - your signature pictures are absolutely gorgeous!

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, and I think it's time to join in! I am such a makeup junkie! When I saw the sign go up in my mall last year that Sephora was coming, I nearly fell to my knees and cried.:rotfl: Of course, I was there the moment it opened, and have gone so often over the past year, I think the salesladies know me by name. Just went yesterday, in fact, and came home with Nars "O" lip gloss and nail polish, and a small tube of Lash Injection for my upcoming Disney trip. Love it!

I do have to rave about the Monistat trick. I had been using the Sephora brand primer, and I liked it, but the Monistat works SOOO much better. My makeup looks fresh and perfect all day. I can't wait to see how it holds up in the Florida heat and humidity.

Thanks for all the tips, ladies, and keep them coming!

OMG, I have to tell you all what just happened. I must be doing something right because I was just carded!! :lmao: And no, they don't automatically card everyone - the last time I was carded there was 5 years ago. I swear, it's these hair extensions - I really do think they make me look younger! The timing on that couldn't be better because I turn 47 tomorrow. :scared1:

Now back to the topic of makeup: someone asked earlier about self-tanners, but I don't recall seeing a response. Does anyone have a recommendation? I really need to do something about my veiny legs for the summer and I'm hoping if my legs are darker they won't show up so much.

It *is* the extensions, hot tamale!!! :cool1:

Selt Tanner - I like Loreal's spray one - for body - and the gel one for face. I also use the Jergens one for the tops of my hands and feet (as those seem to grab color more and the Jergen's isnt as dark)

Great website for self tanner (I think Il add this to the first page of links!)

Stila too. :thumbsup2

Ummm - have you tried www.everydayminerals.com ?

I like them WAY better than Bare Minerals - and theyre cheaper and their color selection is awesome AND you can get a generous free sample to start with for only $4 shipping. :thumbsup2

Ok just need to thank you :flower3: i ordered the everday minerals trial pack today (I have been looking for some mineral pwder makeup but at a cheaper more reasonable price) and of course just had to get some eyeshadow, lipstick and brush to try :) and then i have to go and buy some monistat for my face tomorrow so i have had a productive evening afterall...THANKS

Professional airbrush or regular makeup session...airbrush is 100 and makeup is 75. I'm going to be taking some head shots next month. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I tried the new Jergens one that is supposed to work more quickly. I got a few samples somewhere and it actually worked well.It did not make me look like that horrible orange color ...it added just enough color so my legs did not look glaring. I only used it once and I think I have enough for a week or so from the samples so I will try it a few more times and report back. I like it b/c it is not drying..I find the L'oreal makes my legs dry.

How-d. So I got the Monistat and today is the first day I put it on. My face does feel smooth. My questions are 1) how can you fill in pores and 2 Ihave deep () around my mouth and I mean deep how can i hide them or make them not so obvious?

I"ve been avoiding this thread up until now... because i'm absolutely addicted to Make up! I can't get enough...

I love to try new products.. My gf's refer to me as a walking cosmectic counter. :lmao:

It can smooth pores to some extent. I was going to get the Strivectin filler when I was at Sephora but the girl there told me there was a better filler it was in a pink jar and she said you had to kind of work it around like some kind of putty. Well she asked if I wanted a sample, and I of course said yes. She got a scraper out of the draw and took some from the open sample on the counter...no way would I put it on my face after God knows how much bacteria had built up in that moist medium. Unfortunately I dumped the sample before I got the hame. There is not a lot that will fill in nasal to mouth folds short of a face lift. You can soften them but the putty might work. I used the Patricia Wexler filler and it soften them considerably.

Thanks I'll look into getting that then, facelift dont think DH will go with any more plastic surgery for me :rotfl:

:welcome: I think there are many people on this thread just like you and you are in good company. I can't say that I am that bad yet, but since reading this thread I have tried Everyday Minerals, Mac Fluid Line, some Twofaced stuff and Philosophy. I want to try some other stuff, but I havn't had a chance to yet. I think my DH is starting to think I'm nuts and am starting a mid-life crisis. :lmao:

I have started to recommend stuff to my GF's. :cheer2: Just last week I had one ordering some Philosophy skincare and some EDM. I also had to write down the name of the monistat stuff because she is thinking of trying it. She also partly thinks I'm nuts to, so I can't wait to see if she picked some up over the weekend. She just kept saying are you sure I can use this instead of the smashbox stuff. I told her to google the name and she will see other people commenting on how great it is. I think she was afraid I was trying to punk her or something.

Restylane injections work great for those folds between your nose and mouth. :thumbsup2

OMG, how did I miss this thread? I have found my people!

I have far, far too much makeup and refer to Sephora as a candy store for grown ups. I wish that I had spotted this thread last year when I was desparately searching for a good, waterproof mascara for our WDW trip (oh Tarte 4 day Lash Stain, how I wanted to love you) and ended up bringing along a tube of Lash Injection that I had gotten as a sample.

Then, once I found the thread I was reluctant to peek at it because I was afraid that I'd find new & different things to spend money on (and I wasn't wrong, Advanced Eye Hope).

Anyway, my nemesis is dark circles under my eyes (as well as the oh so lovely crows feet). Crows feet don't bug me but the puffy, dark circles do. Hylexin was a joke, as was Philosophy's Dark Shadows. Clinique's all about eyes helps as far as softness but the circles are still going strong. Skyn Iceland is proving to be too thick & clumpy to be useful & I'm currently eyeing (no pun intended) Origins perfect world for eyes. ANY advice appreciated for banishing those bad boys.

I can't find one that is a true gray. Everything I'm finding is too silver or too shimmery. I posted about this in my first post, but it got lost. :confused3
It's not matte but I've just picked up a bottle of OPI's Let it Roll and it's a gorgeous grey, weimaraner kind of color.

Last one...does anyone know if any product exists that will help stop someone from biting the skin around the nails? It is my (really gross) nervous habit and 99% of the time I don't realize I am even doing it until I start bleeding. :scared: Because of this my nails always look crappy and it ruins every manicure I ever get.
I've got the same bad habit. Usually a manicure will help to deter me, or keeping lip gloss on (because it's sticky enough to make me realize when I'm doing it). I haven't found a fail proof deterrent, though. Believe me, I wish I had.

I have awful dark circles and the best thing I've found is EM concealer (I use bisque) applied with a damp brush. Used alone, it doesn't do much but if you wet it a bit it works wonders in getting rid of the dark circles. If you use monistat as a primer, that will help keep it from looking cakey. I also sometimes will mix it with Well Rested for Eyes (also by EM).

Hold strong Bella, hold strong! :lmao: Oh, who am I kidding, like I can resist makeup. :rolleyes1 How much is shipping? Please tell me it is really, really expensive and would defeat the purpose of a sale and I'd be better off to wait. :scared:

I never checked in all weekend, but I just looked back and I don't see any pictures of Kim's extensions. I know the last time you posted a pic you vowed it was the LAST time, but please, please. You are in good company now and I'm dying to see how it looks, especially if you are getting CARDED now!!!!
