The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Day 1, February 19

Very late take away dinner from Wolfgang Puck's Express

After we had finally landed, gone through immigration and picked up our rental car, we arrived at the hotel, the Clarion Lake Buena Vista, just to find out that they had messed up our reservation AGAIN! :scared1:

We finally were assigned a room,

hauled our luggage up to it

and then made our way out again to pick up some very late dinner.

We first went to the Hess opposite Downtown Disney to buy some drinks, tortilla chips and salsa. Then we made our way over to Downtown Disney, to pick up some dinner we had dreamed about since we had left Florida in early fall.

Our favourite, our tradition to start and to end a vacation with ....... Wolfgang Puck's Express

IMG_9508.jpg

Since we had to take it away we ordered two sandwiches.

IMG_9509.jpg

And once we had set up the table we could start to indulge in our first Disney meal!

One of our choices was the Rotisserie Turkey Club Sandwich, avocado, bacon, red onion, plum tomatoes, romaine and remoulade. It was heavenly! :cloud9: There was plenty of meat and it all worked so well together with the remoulade and the rest of the ingredients. Those sandwiches are huge and since it had taken us some time to get everything ready the fries were only lukewarm, but those herbed fries were still incredibly delicious!

Our second choice was an old favourite! :thumbsup2 The Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, with lots of romaine and plum tomatoes. Now ever since we had first tried it, it has never disappointed us and it was really good this time as well. The chicken is moist, the romain crisp and tasty with the pesto and the tomatoes were ripe and fragrent. Again, lukewarm fries, but that was our own fault as we had taken some time to set everything up.
We really enjoyed our first meal back in the best Worlds of them all! ;)

Coming up: A DISmeet breakfast at Cape May Cafe

So fun to have a tradition that celebrates your return to the World! I can't believe I have never tried WPE. I am going to have to fix that one day!! Both sandwiches look positively delish!

I agree with the rest of the gang... your airplane food looks pretty tasty!

Enjoy your new car!!

Karin, do you have a financial interest in WPE :rotfl:

I have only ever eaten there once, I had the pizza and it was yummy

Not long to my trip now ....... sooooo excited and hoping to do another dining review :thumbsup2

Yay for WPE, I love that you guys are have this as your first Disney meal. They should make you honorary WPE diners :teeth:

Karen, we will be dining at WPE for our arrival meal on our Sept. trip. It is all due to your reports. I was not to interested in eating there until I started reading your postings. Not I won't be stopped from trying WPE. :dance3:

Thos sandwiches look so good! WPE is going to be our first meal at WDW, we should get to Orlando about 11am and we are going to stop at WPE for lunch before heading to AKL.

It makes us feel we have finally arrived when we walk through the doors of WPE! And it took us years until we finally tried it too, but after that, we were HOOKED - BIG time! ;)
We have had pretty much all of the sandwiches they offer and while all of them are yummy, the Chicken Pesto is my absolute favourite. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing our excitement about the new cars!

They fed us quite well on the plane, and being able to sleep for quite some time was wonderful - shortens the time on the plane and you arrive less tired! :thumbsup2

We always try to have a WPE sandwich to start off the vacation and a pizza on the way to the airport! Kind of brings things full circle!
As for being honorary diners - it is embarrassing enough that most of the wait stuff remember us after a 6 month absense! :rotfl2:

Yeah! Another DISfriend who is trying WPE! There are so many wonderful things to choose from!
Can't wait to hear what you think about it! :thumbsup2

Those sandwiches look amazing!!! I love WPE.

They were so good - and this is the only place where I actually love lukewarm fries! The herbed fries are even yummy when cold! ;) :lmao:

I'm in!! Love reading dining reports!!! :)

Welcome!
How nice to have you on board for the dining adventures!

Thos sandwiches look so good! WPE is going to be our first meal at WDW, we should get to Orlando about 11am and we are going to stop at WPE for lunch before heading to AKL.

:woohoo: Starting your vacation with a meal from WPE is the best way to do it! :thumbsup2
The Creme Brulee is wonderful, and everything else is very well worth trying too! ;)

Yay! You are there, with an amazing food start!

Yes, we have finally made it to WDW food after 10+ pages! ;)

OK, I have to try WPE...if we ever go to DTD again. :lmao: Can't wait for your next update! :thumbsup2 Wonder if you'll like it... :lmao:

I told ya, you should try WPE! ;) Anything coming from Austria must be good! And Wolfgang is trusted fellow countryman!

Hm, the question is not if we liked the food, but did we like the company? :rotfl2:

No fair cheating..you know what is going to happen :lmao:

Yip, she should! And without a further wait - the next post will reveal the answer ......... :rotfl:

Day 2, February 20

A DISmeet breakfast at Cape May Cafe

The next morning we were up very early.
When we first planned the trip we intended to have breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express (yes, AGAIN! :lmao:), then Nicki (MickeyNicki) let us know that they would be at WDW that same weekend and they were having breakfast at Cape May. Now, Cape May has never made our list because of two reasons - a) it is a buffet and b) it has characters! :scared1: :rotfl2:
After a short discussion with Tom we decided to try Cape May, not knowing that Tina (tinacaplan) and her family would be willing to make the early trek over to the Beach Club as well.
Well, in the end Tina made a reservation for all of us and we were to be there at 7.45am!

We arrived in time a little nervous IF we would all hit it off with each other. It's something else having fun here on the boards, but meeting someone in real life is a different story.
But we were sooooooo lucky! ALL our new friends were so nice and it was like we had been friends forever. :grouphug:

Once we were seated, everyone ordered drinks,

then started chatting and exchanging gifts.

IMG_9518.jpg

I can't remember what everyone else had, but we got a plate of fruit to share to start with.

IMG_9544.jpg

Here is my second plate of food. Scrambled eggs - standard fare, nothing special, asparagus - nicely cooked, still had a little crunch to it, unfortunately they were only luke warm, breakfast potatoes, which I cannot remember at all, so I guess they were fine, but nothing special. And a piece of breakfast pizza, which was a bit hard and dry - nothing to write home about.

IMG_9543.jpg

Tom had about the same, plus some breakfast sausages. He wasn't impressed with breakfast either, BUT ......... remember, we did NOT go there for the food, but for the company! And the company was

GREAT!!!!!!

Here are a few more photos of the buffet .......

I am not sure we did get photos of everything as there were quite a few people around the buffet and we did not want to miss too much of our fun meet!

Coming up: An icecold treat from Ghirardelli's

Mmmm...Cape May looks delicious!! :cloud9: I'm going for the clambake in August, but I'll have to try it for breakfast soon! :thumbsup2

Looks like such a fun DisMeet! :)

Looks like you had a fun DISmeet!
We're trying Cape May for breakfast in August, so your review was very helpful. My nephews love Mickey waffles. Glad to see they can get some there. :goodvibes
