Day 2, February 20

Dinner at The Wave

After we had settled into our room we rested a little while and then drove over to the Contemporary to have dinner at The Wave before hitting MK for EMH.

We arrived perfectly on time, signed in and were asked to wait in the lounge. So we sat down, picked up the drinks menu and our buzzer went off! :rotfl2:

We were then led to a small table right in the middle of the restaurant, but close to a pillar.
Our server was quick on hand, asked for our drinks order and left us to study the menu.

She soon came back with our drinks, took our orders for the main courses and rushed back with

a basket of Whole Grain Bread and

some Butter with sea salt. I was still busy taking photos of it when the table next to us complained that the bread was still frozen.
So while I was still trying to get the best picture of the bread it was whisked away by the server and we were told she would be back with some eatable bread real soon.
She reappeared about 2 minutes later with some nice hot bread. We both had a piece, spread with butter, which melted into it. :cloud9:

While we were still enjoying the bread, our main courses arrived. Tom had ordered the Chili-marinated Flat Iron Steak with Grilled Vidalia Onions, Boniato Mash, Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, and Marinated Beet Salad. Wow! Flavour sensation - the steak was very tender and was perfectly complimented by the sauce and mash. He was really happy.

I had something I had enjoyed last summer, the Apple Brined Pork Tenderloin with Bourbon Sweet Mashed Potatoes, Warm Spinach-Bacon Salad, and Sassafras Jus. The tenderloin was cooked to a perfect light pink and was juicy and tender. There is just the slightest hint of Bourbon in the potatoes and the serving is small, but it is MORE than enough, since it is slightly sweet. But together with the Spinach and Bacon it is heaven on earth. I really hope they keep it on the menu as I intend to have it again! ;)

We had nibbled a few snacks in the afternoon and did not intend to order dessert, but they had just recently changed some of their desserts and we could not resist.

Tom ordered the Freshly Made Gelato,

IMG_9617.jpg

Popcorn Gelato, which had such a nice taste of popcorn. However they do it - it was delish!

IMG_9614.jpg

Rocky Road Chocolate Gelato, which was not too sweet

IMG_9618.jpg

and Peanut Butter and Jelly Gelato. Believe it or not, but you can really taste the peanut butter and jelly! :goodvibes

I wanted something hot and something cold.

So I ordered a pot of their lavendar infused Earl Grey tea. I love this tea - wonderful flavour! :thumbsup2

And I ordered the American Flavors,

IMG_9624.jpg

Mississippi Mud Pie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream,

IMG_9620.jpg

Key Lime Cube with fresh Citrus Whipped Cream,

IMG_9623.jpg

and Boston Cream Pie. All three of them were very good and it would be hard to pick a favourite!

Once we had finished dinner we walked over to the MK to meet Tina for EMH until 3am this evening/morning! ;)

Coming up: Breakfast/Lunch at Krispy Kreme

I too have had the steak at the Wave and it was delish both times !!!Now the new dessrt trio looks absolutely delish!!!

Love seeing another good review of The Wave. I recently added it to our Aug/Sept trip after debating on it for months. That pork dish looks really good!

"Wow, what a shame to miss you by two days. And thanks for leaving some Ghirardelli ice-cream, what about the stuff at Beaches and Cream, will you leave some of that too? "

Yes, wish we could meet you, we feel like we know you from your wonderful reports. We do love Beaches and Cream and my son must have his fudge mudslide with each trip. I usually have to help him with that!

Your Wave dinner looked quite good. We may have to add that to our list.

Hmmm...I seem to recall hearing all about that meal, pretty much as soon as you had it! :lmao:

Hi Karin

We just love The Wave! We have always had good food and good service. And I love their dessert trios, that way I get to try three desserts at one time (or even 6, if Tom has some too!)

Subscribing, I'm really loving your reviews.

Welcome! :flower3:
How nice to have you here. Hope you'll like what else is in store for this trip.

We love The Wave. Tom and I went for the first time shortly after they first opened and have come back at least once every trip.
Hope you'll like it too! :thumbsup2

I love your reports! I am so in!!!!!

I love new readers! ;) :goodvibes

Maybe are paths will cross sometime in the future. :thumbsup2

We only had good experiences at The Wave and we have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Not just your usual park food, I love that they are a bit different.

Yummm!!! On my next trip after this summer, I will definitely be getting to the Wave! :thumbsup2

Good choice! The Wave is yummy! Love the desserts! :thumbsup2

That could have very well been the case! :rotfl2:

Linda!:)

Like Karin - I am eagerly awaiting one of your cocktail laden reports!

Karin - soooooo love reading your reviews - The Wave is somewhere we've never been but I've read so many good reviews we may have to consider it!

We are just beginning to whisper to ourselves (very quietly) .....2013?.....2013?......but it seems such a long time away! :sad2:

Till then, we live through amazing reports like yours!:thumbsup2

Shari, you HAVE TO try The Wave. We love a late dinner, then just stroll over to the MK for Evening EMH! :cloud9:

If you whisper WDW in 2013 ......... why not shorten the wait time with a visit to Disneyland Paris?
We will have to skip our visit in February as well, as we both just bought new cars, but we are planning on short trips to Paris, Italy and Germany in the meantime.

I think you've sold us on The Wave! We love having meals in the MK resort area so then we can pop back into the park for more fun.:cheer2:

We had a lovely trip to DLRP this February but realistically, if we want to get back to WDW (and the girls are both classed as adults now, therefore more expensive!) then we have to tighten our belts, holiday wise, till then. We can have a few days away around England to keep us going. If a great DLRP offer came up and we could afford then we would jump at the chance.

To be honest, we have had a pretty traumatic few weeks recently and the thought of a trip to WDW is keeping us all going. It's the magic healing power of Disney.:wizard:

Try The Wave for breakfast. They have some yummy sweet potato pancakes that remind me of Boatwright's!!!

We tried The Wave as our Group Meal in Feb 2009 with Jordan, Winkers and Blue !!All enjoyed their meal except maybe Blue's Hubby who had Green stuff( veggies) on his plate and he doesn't like green:rotfl2::rotfl2:He did say the Pork was great though!!!;)
