The Magic is on her way!!!

Does anyone know if she has to do any sea trials? I'm wondering since she got some sort of engine work if that means she has to do sea trials before heading over? Tonka's Skipper? Truck1? Or any other maritime experienced person?

Wow!!! I'm SO glad I found the boards and the info about the dry dock and booked her for May!!! I'm a lil jealous of all you who get to sail her this month but I'm reasonable and happy that I have her two days after my anniversary. Still, this is Soooooo exciting!!!

Hi Silver,

I will have to give you a BIG..........maybe........, but not likely!

Sea trials are usually only done on new builds or a massive rebuild to test systems and especially see that the vessel operates(IE speed) and maneuvers to design requirements.

One famous cruise ship problem was back in the 60's when the QEII was on trials and she had major vibration issues, required quite a bit of redesign and alterations.

While the Magic, I am sure had quite a bit of machinery and engine work done I would expect they would be watching her closely as she sails and in a worse case, she would have to return, but its not likely.

The Bottom line, is nothing is impossible in the maritime world, but sea trials are unlikely.

Enjoy your cruises everyone!:thumbsup2

I was playing around on DCL's site and noticed that they've replaced the main stateroom photos with artist's renderings! It looks kind of funny, but I'm sure they just want people to see that the staterooms have been updated. I wish we had a cruise planned on the Magic, but here's hoping for some great itineraries for 2015!

My friend who is an officer on board just changed his Facebook status to 'time to say goodbye to Cadiz, Spain' So excited to see more of his pictures once they finish- its been fun seeing little bits as he's been posting! And boy- it looks like the crew had LOTS of fun in the local bars!!

Yay! Can't wait to board her again on the 20th to celebrate our 20th anniversary!!!!
Safe travels to the Magic and her cast & crew. °O° See you real soon in Miami!

Do you know when the Magic is schedule to arrive in Miami? I will be in Miami for a long weekend, Oct 17-20 and hope to get a glimpse of her.

Well, she sails 10/20, so you can see her that morning.

I read on one thread some time back that it was due in on the 18th, but I don't have any facts to back that up, just what I read on the DIS.

That eould make sense if they are planning to have a press event with news on board, etc. Plus adding in anything they have ready for her stateside, bedding, blankets etc. Full kitchen stocking versus startup.

The Magic should be in Miami on the 18th Oct and not the 20th this to give the arriving CMs to get onboard and restock and then train with lifeboat drills and crew training in the new areas. I forget whether this is early in the day or later in the evening.
