Hi everyone
Just to let you all know I'll be taking over the secret mickey from Sarah. Please can you pm me if you want to join in.

You'll definitely have to come and play with us! I do most things better after a couple of drinks, so we'll have to have some pregame libations. :drinking1 And some postgame libations. :drinking1 And probably some during-game libations. :drinking1

Count me in for the drunken shuffleboard :) no clue how to play but sure we probably won't care after the third or forth drink :rotfl:

ooooohhhhh ...sounds like a plan !!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

drunken anything always sounds like a good plan!

this info will be going up on the front page soon, but:

Secret Mickey Gift Exchange

Welcome to the 2014 WBTA Secret Mickey exchange

This exchange is a bit different from the fish extender exchange, but works along the same way as a secret santa exchange.
Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and should buy a gift for that cabin with a total cost of no less than $20 but no more than $25 (approx GB£16, Aus$25, Can$25)
The gifts can be one per cabin, or individual gifts for each person. You can leave the gift in that cabin's fish extender if they have one, or you can ask their stateroom host to put it in the room. Alternatively you can leave the gift with guest services and ask for it to be delivered to your recipient. You should attach a note to the gift that says its a gift from their secret mickey.

If you would like to join in the Secret Mickey exchange, please PM me with names of everyone in the room who is participating, ages of children, and your room number (if known). Please could you also include a vague idea of your favourite characters/what things you like to receive etc

Cut off date for joining the secret mickey exchange will be sometime in August 2014. PMs will then be sent out with details of your recipient. I aim to try and respond to PMs within one or two days, but please be patient

Wait a sec, we're not supposed to save them even for a few minutes (e.g., someone getting drinks then bringing over, meeting from another part of the ship, etc.?) What about when kids are swimming? Are we supposed to relinquish the loungers while they're in the water? If so, then I'm a huge protocol violator. Oops!

no thats fine, its just that some people will get up in the morning, go save a sun lounger, then disappear for a good chunk of the day, and expect their lounger to still be there whenever they get back.
I dont think anyone is going to argue with you for being next to an empty lounger when the person using that lounger is in the immediate vicinity, or popping over to get some food or something.

I'm not sure what the exact numbers were on our just-completed EBTA, but there seemed to be a fair amount of kids. We are okay with taking the boys out of school, although I don't think their school is as thrilled. I'm sure they'll keep taking my money though!

Luckily they have multi-age classrooms, so they will be very well-acquainted with their teachers. I think many families choose to home school their kids and then reenroll in regular school after the trip.

I seem to remember them telling us there were less then 300 kids on the just-completed EBTA but over 1,000 on the first med. I was surprised by how many strollers on the med but almost no wheelchairs, every different from the longer cruises.

If no one else has offerred, I'll organize the t-shirts if you'd like. val

Val, you mean shuffleboard t-shirts, right? :rolleyes2
Paul Brennan has mentioned he would be willing to do the gorgeous embroidered polos and/or zip sweatshirts again for the WBTA'14 which we all enjoyed so much on the EBTA'13. No pressure, Paul! :rotfl2:

I was thinking about group t-shirts for the cruise, not shuffleboard specific, sorry I wasn't more specific.

I must have missed the posting about the polos and sweatshirts for the 2014 TA. I saw them on the 2013EBTA and they were lovely.

I just thought some might like t-shirts with the group logo for the group and cruise, especially since there were no 2013 DCL TA merchandise. If not, that's ok - no problem - sorry I mentioned it.

I think it would be nice to have the option of a t-shirt

christina, have just tried to reply to your PM about the secret mickey, but your inbox is full.....

All on this thread---

As we hope everyone is aware, the forum rules of the DIS boards prohibit anyone advertising their own business or using this site for personal gain. As we are sponsored by a travel agency, this rule absolutely extends to competing travel agents, who frequently attempt to abuse our site to promote or conduct their own business.

It's come to our attention that this has been the case within this thread, that a travel agent not affiliated with us has been using this platform to promote their own business in booking travel and collecting money from our members.

This is a reminder that this unethical behavior is not permitted on the DISboards.

t shirts would be very nice.

BTW I received a survey form from DCL and mentioned the lack of transatlantic tshirts.

I remember on the 2011 WBTA there were t-shirts sold in the shops - have a blue one thanks to LindaBabe.

Valerie, it's very kind of you to offer to organise t shirts. Despite the fact that someone else has offered to get the embroidered hoodies and or t shirts made , it would be nice to have another alternative with graphics rather than small embroidered design, because as you mentioned dcl aren't very good at providing t shirts etc for the transatlantic crossings.
My personal choice is always to go with a graphic on my t shirt, so I don't think anyone would mind if you wanted to jump in to sort those out.

I agree that it's nice to have alternatives. Personally, I prefer polos (I never wear t-shirts) and the ones that Paul has come up with look terrific! But having a choice is great - and there are certainly enough of us here to support both!

I find it a little strange that I've seen two posts from people in this group that have tried to express their opinion to you as Webmaster that they believe there has been an injustice done. But they no longer exist. I know that this forum is sponsered by the DIS and I have always promoted this sight as a wonderful place to interact with people who know and love both Disney and DCL but I also thought it was a public forum. Except for when I'm actually on vacation, I can't think of a day that doesn't pass that I don't check this forum. My DS even met his wife through this forum.

No one in this group has solicited business or promoted themselves as an agent. People have come forward to organize many events including a fellow traveler that has volunteered to organize a group of us to obtain a discount at a hotel. They have not made any money off of us. No money has been exchanged to that individual and we are all responsible for our own bill (we are not paying any money to that individual or to an agency). I find this no different than someone that organizes an outside excursion.

I want to understand why the thread is being censored but I feel that this post will go the way of the others. Sadly, I don't see the same happening with many posts on other threads that are vicious and nasty and get way out of hand. Those posts get a gentle reminder to stay on topic. Well this post is on topic and I would like to think that you will be fair. Check with many of the people on this thread and you will get the same answer. I say many cause those on this thread know the people that will not agree.

Also another idea that worked well on previous transatlantics was several designs that people could choose from and then get their own shirts printed so that it wasn't all left down to one person.

Everyone has a different preference for clothing items etc, so several choices will definitely be the way to go

I am glad of the post by WEBMASTER. I for one was worried about handing over my cc details to somebody I do not know which Is why I decided not to book with her. At the end of the day the lady in question is making money for the bookings. As a fellow cruiser, if I were to help organise hotels etc then I most certainly would not be getting anything out of it except pleasure to help ;)

Just to add no-one else is charging for their organisation of FE, Champagne girls etc etc. So why should someone profit from hotel bookings!
