Chris - that was my mother who passed away, and I did get off in Madeira to fly back to Boston, in a very round about way!! I am back to get through this cruise, and am really looking forward to seeing everyone i had just met, and have yet to meet. A few of my wonderful friends are already on this cruise, and you did meet them at the Earl of Sandwich too that day.

I also remember someone from the DIS group having their mother pass away while we were on board and she had to fly back home to Boston(?) from Madeira or Gibraltar and it was quite an ordeal. I can't remember her username, though I believe she met a bunch of us down at WDW the day we disembarked for lunch at Earl of Sandwich.

Ahh, so you are one of the people I met that day with Caroline at Earl of Sandwich. We flew down to FL to meet up with LindaBabe and my mother at the end of the cruise.

Chris, I see Caroline responded to your post. Ask her about the broken bed in her cabin while she was getting suitcases from under. She laughs about it now, but I am sure it wasn't funny then.

My mother still talks about coming back to the room and finding a bed missing.

Actually Brent was on the Fantasy along with his lovely wife Yolanda and their son when I cruised in September. I never did meet up with Yolanda (she was our head server on the 2010 WBTA and the little guy was born 9 months after our WBTA - just saying! ). Brent said they often camped in the lobby so he could run a round alot!

Makes sense that Brent might move for the Med. He does get his pick of where he wants to go!

lol - i think people were mostly impressed by the size of the walk in closet and the balcony!! Love that room.

It would be nice to see the Walt suite in real. Are you open it for the stateroom tour. I remember the stateroom tour on the WBTA 2011 and we ended then in a one bedroom suite and they(or actualy the roomserver suggested it) had managed drinks, cheese, cookies etc for us all. It was so lovely to see the suite.

I remember the groupbrunches on the WBTA 2011. We couldn't book a Palo Brunch anymore because we were first cruisers then. And had 5 groups then.
Now we have almost all days aready filled, 1,5 year in advance.
On the Hawaii we could book a Palo Brunch in advance.
Remember all the people that they can't book a private Brunch if they are in the group. A private one you have to book on board.

Page 46 of thread 1 with 566 days to go? I bet we beat the 2011 record # of posts & threads!

It is about 10 pages a day, 570 days to go = 5700 pages. How many treads will that be????? More then 20???? Paul had invented this.
Our Hawaiin had one tread and only 83 pages. And the one in september (4 night on the Dream) is started in december 2011 and has already 7 (yes seven) pages.

SOUNDS AWESOME!! I also see that 3 of the cabins are filled with our fellow cruisers from our Oct 2012 Hawaiian 14 night cruise!! this is our first balcony room ever -so very excited! This sounds like a very FUN group! Glad to be a part of it -and looking forward to getting to know all of you pre-cruise -and meeting everyone in 564 days!! LOL!!

It is so great to see all the people booked of the wbta 2011 and now also several of the Hawaii. It will be a great reunion. And the most on deck 6.
We had a verrandah on the WBTA and now we booked one again.

I know we had been talking to you in Madeira when we were waiting on the buses for our tour. You told that DCL had helped you well to get back home. And you hoped to do it all over again. I'm glad that you get the change to make the whole trip with us again.

Well, let's just say that I had jammed that suitcase so well under the bed that when i tried to remove it, the bed legs came off too!!! Moral of the story is, get those bed height extender legs, or pack it all in a smaller case!!
Poor Eilean, though, came back to find only one bed in the room! Thinking they would just repair it in the room, the Magic staff forgot to mention that they were removing the bed all together.

Liesbeth, yes we did talk on the dock that day as i waited for the airport cab, and I am back to begin and end this wonderful cruise! I am very excited this time too!!!

DW decided to leave me at home alone on a Saturday so what do I do? Start researching the possibility of doing this cruise. So, I look at our options for timings and apx. flight costs. Sure can be done, just going to have to convince DW (which shouldn't take much). The only catch will be when the Double Dumbo Dare is held in 2014. Should be the week before we would board for this cruise. That would just mean we fly to LA the weekend before, run the race, spend a couple days at DL, then fly to Barcelona. We'll hold off on booking until we can do a OBB in May.

How helpful was DCL in helping you get home? Were they able to help with travel arrangements and did they help secure them at non-exorbinant rates?

Chris, to answer your question... DCL allowed me to make as many calls as I needed to, at no cost. One of my roommates, LindaBabe, called our TA in Pennsylvania, who actually made all the travel arrangements. DCL did arrange for pick-ups at the dock for myself and another family from Minnesota, who had lost their mother too. Have to say my biggest supporters were my 2 roomies, Eilean and Linda, who kept me calm. As for costs, they were all mine. I am definitely a strong proponent of travel insurance, it did save me.

WELCOME TO DECK 6 this is the party Deck with so many of our group on it. You made the right choice in changing!

Nothing against those left on other decks....but beware those on Deck 5 after we've been on the raz with all those boozy tastings.

Now Sue......you really shouldn't discriminate against those of us who are on the "other side of the tracks". We have feelings down on deck #2 too! We go up and down the same stairs (granted we go up and down a few more flights), we get let out for good behavior to go eat in the restaurants, we stumble down the aisles to get to our room after partying at Rockin Bar D just like the 5th and 6th floors....... *walking away shaking my head thinking that maybe Kirby the Bear didn't have it so bad after all. He was granted a little dignity while being catered to......maybe he stayed on the 6th floor......sigh*
