The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

I've booked my MIL onto the Puerto Rico excursion + transfer, she didn't fancy coming up to Florida with us so otherwise she would have been hanging around the airport before the Condor flight. Thanks again to whoever first pointed us to that possibility.

Sue, are you US citizens or EU? Because the anxious thought just crossed my mind that immigrations for non-US citizens might take ages at the port of San Juan so we might be stuck in that line while the tour is waiting for us ... It took forever (and was so annoying!) last year at the port of L.A., whereas it was a breeze both at Port Canaveral and New York City.

Annichan - We are Brits and live in Yorkshire, England. What part of Germany do you live as we lived near Monchengladbach for 3 years many years ago and love coming to Germany on holiday.

The one saving grace is that LOTS of EU citizens will be getting off the WBTA on the 20th so the queue for immigration should be shorter on the 27th as that cruise seems to have proved very popular for Americans.

The tour company are aware we have to get off the ship to meet them at 8.45am and we do dock at 7am
ARE YOU EARLY DINING??? If so you will be eating at 6.45am on your dining rotation so have no problem.
We are late dining so our Farewell breakfast will be 8am and we may just go to Cabanas for our breakfast so we can get off a bit earlier.

It was I that found the web site of PuertoRicoCruiseexcursions and am glad it proved useful for you and others.

We too are getting the Condor flight home but on the 27th as doing the B2B after the Transatlantic crossing. I take it your MIL is flying on the 20th??

Where does she live, does she have a connection?

At least you know she will be looked after and get to the airport OK.

:thumbsup2

Do you now if there's some shoppingtime?
I like to buy a thimble as a souvenir.

Connie

Connie. It really depends on what time you have to check in for your flight home. They do say that at the end of the tour of Old San Juan and the Fortesses there could be time for a look around the shops before going to airport.

I know for us we have to check in at 3pm for our flight at 6.15pm and the tour would finish around 1pm (it's a 4 hour tour) so there would be time for a quick meal and /or shop PLUS I bet the tour operator could tell you where to find your souvenir thimble.

Ask your questions on the page when you check availability.

Hope that helps .

Hey folks! Just finished paying off our 7 day Mediterranean and this cruise for our first Back to Back experience. So NOW it's real!! Also got Disney to do the pre-hotel in Barcelona, flights to Barcelona from Baltimore and back from Puerto Rico and all the transfers. Very reasonable! Surprisingly. :-)

I tried to read through all the posts but has a running group been started? I will be training for a half-marathon in October so will need to log some miles in. We had a Running Group on the Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise last year. Loves it! We each got a log sheet to track our miles, whether we were running a half marathon, marathon or ultra marathon. One mile a day will get you at least a half marathon status.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ah, thanks to you then! Yes she'll be flying out on the 20th, we have a fairly prompt flight to MCO so I'm glad she'll have something to do. She's connecting on to London, so it will be a very long time between getting off the ship and getting home!

Okay folks, I've finished updating the FE sign-ups from here and the FB page, and passed the list on to Sarah, aka CDNDisneyMom, who will be taking over the FE organization. Her husband, Andrew, aka Puredata, will be taking over the Mojito tasting, as soon as I finish updating that list. Sad to say, we've had to cancel this cruise. We've rebooked on the 2015 EBTA as the timing on that cruise works better for us on a number of levels. We'll miss cruising with all of you, but perhaps we'll meet up on another cruise. Have a great time!!

Pat, see you next year when we've crossed over to the dark side called shorter days and EBTA lol

Thanks for the update. It is my first Champagne Girls as I was such a newbie to the group in WBTA 2011 I was too shy to join in but after cruising with you all and getting to know you more here and on Facebook we are joining practically everything!!! party:

Champagne Girls 2011 was a lovely afternoon, hope you enjoy this year's event.

I'm going to post the groups once everyone's PIF'd and confirmed their reservation details with me and that they still wish to attend :)

We are also flying back on the 20th and looking at the tour and airport drop off. I know there are more that have that flight. So she will be not alone.
We are going by train from Frankfurt to Arnhem. (direct train)

We are late dining as well (on that cruise, at least - on this one (WBTA) we are trying out early dining for the first time). So we will probably do the same as you and head to Cabanas instead.

Our friends will be getting off and doing that tour before taking the Condor Flight back so she will have company. We are staying on the ship for another week and friends from the US are joining us.

Cannot wait for this cruise!!! Just caught up on reading everyone's posts a lot of new cruisers. Welcome!! Haven't started saving up yet. Taking a trip to mainland Japan next week so I have been preparing. Excited to see Tokyo Disney for the first time. :)

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and say hi!

I'm Kirsty and am travelling with my good friend Elle. We're in a 9C GTY.

I have just paid our balance and booked our flights from the UK to Barcelona - flying out on Friday 5th so we can have the day to explore.

We're now thinking we might fly to MCO on Saturday 20th, spend the day at WDW and fly back to London on Sunday 21st. I wish we could stay longer but I have to get back for work!

Does anyone know what sort of time we could realistically be at San Juan airport after disembarking? We will carry our own luggage off and forgo breakfast (thinking we could grab some snacks the night before and keep them in our room fridge) so hope to be some of the first off the ship.

Thanks - looing forward to seeing you all on-board!

In answer to my own question...:rotfl2:

DCL just confirmed with me that any flight after 11.30am is ok to book, thought it might be helpful for others to know!

Hi!
Welcome to the group.

Thanks for sharing this... I was a little bit cautious about the 12:15 flight I've booked, but I can breathe a sigh of relief now :goodvibes

Welcome
Where are you all staying in Barcelona ?

Hi Christina!
We are booked at the Doubletree Barcelona. I'm not certain where others are staying but I think there is a wide variety of places that are close by. We chose to stay here because it was a chain we have been at before and the rates were reasonable, only $123 euro with breakfast for two included. The hotel that the cruise line had suggested was much more expensive than ours and was even further away from the port and some of the places that we'd like to visit, so we went with the Doubletree instead.
I'm looking forward to meeting you onboard!

You're welcome. I thought I had better check as we wanted to book the 11.46am JetBlue flight to Orlando so we could maximise our time there also.

We plan to skip breakfast and walk our luggage off the ship and head straight to the airport. Hopefully we'll make it in good time!

I may be a little premature in asking but am in super planning mode...

- Will DCL be releasing excursions for these ports nearer the sail date?
- Has anyone given thought into what sort of things they might like to see and do at each port?
- If I were to want to spend time at a beach, which port should I do it at?

Thanks :thumbsup2
