[Chapter 11]

Evening all. Just trying to catch up a little on what's been going on. People have had a fair amount of time on their hands this evening. Right now, I'm typing this while enjoying the latest installment of kitty wars at our house. We got a new kitten about 2 months ago, and he delights in tormenting our old cat, who's almost 12. Much hissing, spitting, swatting and general unpleasantness -- not unlike my honeymoon (but I digress). Sorry that we'll be missing the big Maelstrom meet in October, but we're pretty much locked into December (9th through the 16th, if anyone will be there during those days). No Poly for us -- we like the Epcot area, so we'll be staying at the BCV. Given the number of people going in October though, looks like I'll be enjoying many a trip report in the months immediately prior to our trip.

Be careful of the pictures at TL - last time I went to one of those places, there wasn't much, shall we say, picture worthy? More like stomach churning most of the time...

It just wasn't the same as when I was a teenager. There were hotties everywhere then! LOL.

Hey, quick question for our resident theological expert -- what does the "Maundy" in "Maundy Thursday" mean? I've always wondered about that.

Hey - as best I know Maundy means Holy. I will admit that I don't know the reason why it's called Maundy instead of holy. I'm pretty certain though that its some old timey tradition that has just been carried forward.

Now, the trip report I can keep up with, this thread on the other hand is out of control!! I just pop in when I can and try to guess what everyone is talking about!! It is like overhearing people's conversations on the Disney busses -- you catch little snippets and just fill in the blanks with your own creative ideas! (now, where did I get the idea to eavesdrop on people on the Disney busses...Buzzton, perhaps?? who was taking care of that cat anyway??)

That was me. AFter the Good Friday service we carry one large cross (not sure if its actual size or not) up to the site of the original meetinghouse in town. It's about 1.5 mile walk, in the dark, carrying the cross. Usually a couple of the male deacons start out with it, but everyone takes a turn at bearing the burden at some point during the walk. It gives everyone a lot of time to reflect on all that transpired both during the original Good Friday and the service that we've just left.

The cross is erected on the hill, and the sunrise service on Easter takes place up. Standing before the cross, with the sun coming up in the east, and the moon still visible in the west, is a beautiful way to feel part of the greatness of God's universe.
