Tink – sorry about the butthead, I mean boss (can I say that on the Dis – sorry mods) Haven’t we all had one of them.
Frickles – It was 49 degrees yesterday, I’m gonna break out my shorts! And don’t worry about not having anyone to talk to in your new neighborhood – you’ll always have your Disfriends!
MommyP- I didn’t realize your upcoming trip was sans kids – mine is too! Can’t wait.
Chapter11- welcome back, sounds like you had a great time. Bling Bling.
Momofmnm – Looks like you had a great time turning 29. And you found your very own Ohana.
Kim – I really, really tried to watch the EE but WW was so riveting! Hopefully there’ll be a repeat cause I couldn’t watch it at 11 and still be able to get up for work this am. I am a weenie – need my ZZZZ’s!
Rhonda – Sorry about the ornaments but now you won’t need any excuses to buy more!
Pongo –arrrrrr!
Lou – The group shot is great!
Java – Sounds like you had a memorably last day with the church. Hope the new job is everything you hoped it would be.

Everyone have a happy Monday. By the way, did everybody read Michelle’s TR? Her mom is def an honorary Maelstromer!

But one day when she was about 3, I heard a terrific banging on the wood floor. She was sitting there with one of those little wooden mallets that go with those pounding toys for babies (y'know, with the pegs) and just whamming on the floor with it. When I asked her why, she told me in her super sweet little high pitched voice "There's some ants in here so I'm just SMASHING them with my hammer!" With a huge smile.
This is sooooooo my little princess. We live in GA. We have ants. She does NOT like ants in the house - her favorite weapon is a shoe - she just pounds away! And the quote from your daughter is spot on!

HaleyB Did I understand from LaLa's trip report that you have secured a trip during free dining? WAY TO GO!!! There are going to be so many of us there during that time frame! I really might have to switch my MNSSHP day.

Rhonda I didn't know you could have too many Christmas ornaments! Shhhhhh. Don't tell my husband!

I am now neglecting Jack. I have to get off.

Kim-ah ha ha on Piper-love that girl! Love that name! You are a better woman than I-I don't hide my disgust of ickywickybugs! Your tr is great-looks like a new installment. I gotta read it later.

LOLOLOL! NOOOO! I will be celebrating 23 years of wedded bliss, alone, just DH and me, no teenagers at the Poly(sorry Jen), on the beach, with lots of mai tai's when we go. We were just finishing up school when we got married in June of '83 and so we took a late honeymoon to WDW in the fall of that same year, so fall at Disney has special meaning to us.

Page two - that's just WRONG!

My son tried to use me as a fastpass this weekend when he came face to face with the Easter Bunny. Apparently we need to go into training before heading to Disney this fall - can't have him climbing my legs in fear when face to face with Mickey! (My husband was just laughing at both of us - me with 3 plates in one hand, two drinks in the other and my son crying and trying to climb my leg - he was six inches off the ground already before someone else took pity on me. No soup for husband!)

okay GA- I am blaming you for missing wondepets with Jack! Too funny! Poor lil guy. Jack is still scared of characaters. He just turned 4! All the pix at Diz with characters, his head is under my shirt! Looks very attractive.
You are really funny and so sophisticated. Can't wait to read your tr report. Okay now I am gone

Morning guys and gals! Hope everyone had a good weekend and back to work.

I need to go OT and have a rant. What better place than here. Cyber friends. This is not a wine and cheese party but I need to get something off my chest and I think it is better said here than to go off on offending parties.

Some of you might remember that we had to cancel our December 2005 25th anniversary trip due to the fact that my DH had a massive stroke on Nov 21st. It was a life changing event that I really haven’t dealt with yet. He is basically OK but since he had a frontal lobe bleed he does have serious memory problems and tends to be emotional and say things without really thinking.

Yesterday we had our annual Easter egg hunt for all our families and friends. This is a big event we host every year for the last 20 years. Kids had a great time. Our “friends” thought this would be a good time to speak to me concerning issues they have with DH. Issues that they have apparently discussed at great lengths among themselves. Basically that he is not the same person, etc, etc. NO joke. They are telling me? How hard it is for them to deal, blah.blah. No ones life changed more than mine that morning.

Long story, short version. I have not felt as alone as I do right now. I guess I can’t talk to “them” because “they” are having a hard time. I feel like my support group just took a giant leap. They probably don’t see it like I do. They think they were being helpful. I couldn’t think of a worse time or place to have their “little talk”.

I had 2 choices. Get it off my chest here or tell DH and hope he doesn’t remember. Bad joke but so truthful.

I feel better already. Thanks for letting me rant. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. Sorry to be Monday morning downer but Mondays are always busy here and this will be 3 pages back by this evening.

LY/MI guys.

Sometimes people are just so involved with their own feelings, they don't think about how what they say affects others. KWIM? So, so sorry you had to go thru that. But You are not alone here on the Dis!

Oh Grammy. :grouphug: :grouphug: I had no idea about your DH. No kidding about life-changing. I'm glad you came here to vent it. I could see your friends bringing up his change in behavior if he hadn't had a stroke, or they didn't know about it --- but OMGosh! They not only have terrible timing, but obviously not a clue what you're going through.

I'm so sorry that you got broadsided with that. :sad2:

Petite, I'll go for, after a year and a half on the South Beach diet. 20 somethin', yeh right. But I don't wish. My DH and I have raised 3 great (sniff, sniff) adults and I have alot of precious, precious memories. And I'm just turning 42 later this month so I've got lots of tread left on these tires! I read everyone's TR's and I smile everytime because I have all of those wonderful memories of my kids to look back upon.

I'll try to do a TR, but I'm sure I could not do it the justice that everyone else has with theirs. Plus, with just the 2 of us, it might not be suitable for the Dis!

Thanks for listening. :grouphug: You know how sometimes you just feel better if you say something out loud. I just really needed to say some things out loud.

Although I don't post too often here, I've read EVERY POST on this thread and joined it from the very first day. I feel like part of the family here, even if folks don't recognize me. And when I read your post I was deeply saddened.

I know you wrote it just to vent and didn't want it to be a "wine and cheese party" but I wanted to respond anyway. I watched my grandmother go through SO MUCH with my grandfather after his stroke. The man she married no longer existed...at least not in the same way. She was around him all day long and cared for him, shaved him, brushed his teeth, the endless doctor's visits and hospital trips...and so forth...mostly on her own. She felt the impact of his stroke more than ANYONE else and we all tried to be there for HER (I live 3 hours away, though) as much as we could as well as him. It took a BIG toll on her. He said mean things to her (even called her the B word--1st time ever in their 52 years of marriage) and it broke her heart, even though she knew it was related to the stroke and not something he would have ever done before having it. I worried so much about her and her well being. It NEVER crossed my mind to discuss with her how troubling his demise was to me. She didn't need that burden on top of everything else! It saddened me so to hear that your family unloaded on you. It honestly breaks my heart. And at an Easter party, no less.

My grandfather passed away (it'll be a year on May 5th) but I was so proud of my grandmother for how she handled herself and the situation. I told her she was such a wonderful role-model and that I hope to be able to honor my wedding vows with as much dignity and class as she did (you know the part..."through sickness and health...as long as we both shall live").

She is one classy lady...AND SO ARE YOU! Hang in there. We are here for you and recognize what a challenge you are facing and the strength that you have to endure it.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Many hugs to you and just a note to tell you that I am thinking about ya

Hey everyone, guess what...

Tonight, Mr. Silly asked me why I hadn't booked the trip yet, or something like that. Soooo.... maybe I am going to get in on the free food deal after all.

I think he was serious, I have only pestered him about it ceaselessly for the past 8 days. Today I pulled out the, we can't go to California this summer and that trip was already in the budget... so... and we could go to Epicot, (his favorite park). Twice even. And get us some more of thet yummy wine from the F&WF. And free food. And I priced it out on the Disney site to show him how very affordable it would be.

So now all I have to do is convince myself we really can afford it. I think I am going to list a whole lotta stuff on ebay this week.

Thinking about you - anytime you need to talk to anonymous cyber-friends who care deeply about you, you just tell us whatever you need to say!

Yep! I think I am going to have the exact same dates as you. Sept 29-Oct 7th although if we drive that means the kids will miss 10 days of school. Yikes. No problem for Sophia, but I bet Max's teacher has a fit. He will be in 5th grade.

I had to promise that this REALLY would be a budget trip, instead of my Disney Math Budget trips where I add days because it is less per day that way and upgrade our tickets because that gives you more 'value' so no water parks and more and I think even no hopping this time around (we added hopping last year and used it all of 1 time). MNSSHP is in though, that is why we picked those dates. If they offer it on the 5th and 6th we may go twice. It was super duper fantastic.

And I do love Lala.

Grammyof2--I'm glad to be a part of this group that you feel comfortable enough to vent with. Sometimes it's a lot easier to let it out with a group of "anonymous" friends, and I hope you know how much we all respect your grace and strength while you're going through such a difficult time. :grouphug:

Chapter11--I am so jealous! Diving is one of the very few activities DH and I can enjoy together, but being pregnant for basically three years straight was a total bummer. It's only been in the past couple of years that we've been able to take vacations again where we can dive. For DH's birthday this year, I have him booked for Epcot's DiveQuest. I've heard mostly good things about it, so am hoping it'll be a nice surprise (now I just have to find his C-card and sneak it into our luggage for our trip). I wish I could do the dive with him, but someone needs to watch the kiddos--maybe next time. We're always looking for new places to dive and vacation. So feel free to share if you've got any great spots! :fish:

Dearest grammy;

Can I just reach out of this computer and give you a lil snuggle? :grouphug: As others have said, it is absolutely not a downer to share your day here. I am so sorry for you that your friends and family used a beautiful family gathering to unload on you. My guess is you must be a pillar of strength and folks feel you are a rock. Am I right? I did not know about your Dh either. Thank you for all your humor and senstivity, but that is only part of why I love to chat with you and so many others here. We all have common denominators that make life challenging. So while your struggle is unique to you, please know you are not alone. ANd hay, it's not all bad to tell your Dh stuff that he forgets! ;) Hang tough grammygirl.
