Hey Mel - if you want super nice wait staff who smile and dote on you with attention, and bring you the tastiest food with a smile, and would never laugh at guests behind their back, go try Les Chefs de France. That's the best restaurant at Epcot!

Blessings!
Mark

Mark, we're actually going there for dinner this coming trip. I have an ADR. I'm looking forward to it, actually. And... I am learning to string together a bunch of french curse words especially for the occassion. I would print them here for your enjoyment, however, it'll probably get through the filter which reads english and I'll get booted. For good. So I'll just PM you my fantastic French curse words. Heh, heh.

But... we're actually going there for dinner this trip. Oui!!!

Blessings!
Mel

I think Tangerine Cafe meets any need at any moment. However, I will say that it might not be the most romantic of restaurants. But then again, who wouldn't want to sit outside while Mo'rockin blasts music at about 6000 decibels and the belly dancer shakes her money maker (s)?

Blessings!
Mark

It's moneymaker. Singular. Man!!!!

skent10 - the grass is greener isn't it - even if it is spraypainted, eh, GAAristocat ;)

Our first stop was always Chez Harvey's when we crossed the boarder.....DD LOVES the place. Also, for some reason we had to have multiple orderings of PizzaPizza for her as well!
Stocked up of the big cans of Timmies to brew at home.

Pongo - you did it. I want my Suthurn' cooking! Never did try a deep fried turkey....oh well. DH LOVES fried green tomatoes, so we have to visit Folks when we are south! He also loves the livers and gizzards :confused3 Fried Okra for me!

I miss Steak and Shake! I know, not the best, but the fries are to die for!

Skent10 - at least they have S 'n S in IL - isn't that where they started?

I don't miss Waffle House though... ;) I returned our WH Credit Card when we left the state :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I know it's late for lunch, but I haven't eaten yet. The house is half clean - I've used the Mr. Clean in the sink for a few hours trick. Ssshhhhh! Don't tell DH :lmao: :lmao:

Sweet Tea, now that is is a southern drink. I get some strange looks when I drink it up here. I miss a lot of southern foods: fried okra, pickled okra, boiled p-nuts, red velvet cake, cornbread, grits, biscuits n gravy,I am sure there is more. That doens't include the restaurants I wish we had here: Krystal, Sonnys BBQ, Chik Fil A (OMG I loves me some of that), I am sure there are a ton more of these too.

My mom got me this great Christmas ornament this year:

It was an ornament of The Big Chicken.

I have NO IDEA what any of the above foodstuffs taste like.

Seriously. No joke. I wanted to try grits last trip but was too full to get to it.

Mel, I am sooooooooooo sorry for you, that you've not tried any of these southern delicacies. Girl, you are missing out!!! People always think boiled peanuts is so weird~but peanuts are actually legumes (like beans), and not nuts. And, well, you boil beans, don't you?? Anyway, they are some of the finest eatin' on this earth. Red velvet cake...surely you jest!! Actually, it's a variation of a chocolate cake. But it has a bottle of red food coloring in it to make it red. It's very popular around the holidays. Fried okra and pickled okra (we buy that in jars, most people don't "put up" pickled okra anymore), mmm mmm!!! Cornbread, too! Come on down, Mel, Marky Mark and I will teach you all about these southern Good Eats!!! :thumbsup2

Oh, and don't try grits at Disney. I PROMISE, you will not get good grits there!!

Mel - I highly recommend grits (with butter and cheese). Of course, the slow cook kind is SO much better...don't know what you'd get at WDW, but I'm thinkin' instant.

Lil' G - You never fail to get a smile out of me...and today I laughed out loud at your "melon" talk. :goodvibes

And here's a dancin' 'Nanaman  cuz I got ALL my ADR's for September 30 - October 8. Heck, I feel so good, here's a a whole chorus line of 'em!

You HAVE to try the grits at 1900 Park Fare. They are the best grits I've ever had. Really. Can't say enough about the grits.

If you do end up trying grits...don't ruin them by putting sugar in them....make 'em good with some butter, salt and cheese!!!
Red Velvet cake also has cream cheese icing and it is even better when there is pecans sprinkled on top.....it is heavenly.
Pongo...I ate Chick-Fil-A yesterday! YUM!! Did you ever mix their sweet tea and lemonade together?!?!

We where leaving that day so we really didn't have much time to do anything else but that and walk around Epcot a little. It was nice. The food was ok. It was not outside but in the World showplace. It was decorated very nice and they had some of the characters there as well. We are going to be there this Mother's day again but I decided that we aren't going to do it again. To me it just really wasn't worth it. Again we will be leaving that day but we have a later flight this time and I would rather just get to one of the parks for the last time! Here is a pic of us with the Beast from it!

This is what I was worried about. My DS would probably eat a couple pieces of bacon and a roll and say he was stuffed. Really worth the $$ for him :lmao: . If it was just adults I might consider this more but with him I think I will book elsewhere.

I see you are going back again on Mother's Day. The crowds must have been okay??????

BTW - Any ideas of a which restaurant to book for Mother's Day lunch in Epcot??? My family is very picky so most of countries will not work. I'd pick LeCellier but (gasp) my mother really did not care for it. Very picky :rolleyes1

That's it Frickles I am soooo mad at you ;)
Eatin Chik Fil A and then tellin me about it (No I have never mixed theirs but I love tea & lemonade together)

I love Waffle House, my dad used to take me there when I was little just the two of us and get me a half of a pecan waffle and we would sit and eat.

I wish we had one around here.

Who is going to mail me some boiled p-nuts??? But they have to come from some man who is standing in a gas station parking lot with a kettle and a cardboard sign that reads:

BOILED
P-NUTs

That always cracks me up, it's not that much more effort to write the e and a in the word.

And we could probably start a war here over BBQ (being from NC BBQ is pork with vinigar based sauce) ;)

Hey Mel and fellow Maelstromers....I'm planning on riding that ride on our May trip just because....a tribute of sorts, I guess....

DH and I are trying Le Cellier this trip and the cheddar cheese soup. When you said you preferred Le Cellier to Yachtman's, especially for the price, I decided to give it a go.

It's cool to know that we'll be there the same time as the happyhaunts.... I plan on sporting one of Javamom's shirts during our trip. I'll be on the lookout for Tigger ears and someone (or multiple people) yelling CALLLLVVVVVIIIIINNNNN!

I am not scoring many points with you by telling you that I am still wearing shorts and that I have been eating Chick-a-fway(as my 4yr old says). If I could send you some p-nuts and a samich I would!!! You could send me an awesome NY bagel!!! ;)
Thanks for getting together the chat last night! That was just too fun! To chat with Wobin too was just awesome!!! Since we are on the subject of food, here's you a nana for the good work. Slice it up and put it on some fresh white bread with a little mayo.

Can't forget the black-eyed peas (a veggie...not the rock band) and chicken-fried steak.

Your last line about your husband cracks me up! :lmao: I was born and raised in Texas. You talk about a LONG drive from one end of a state to the other...

Anyway, gotta LOVE that southern food....YUM!

I'm right there with the grits and chicken fried steak, but black eyed peas - not!

Pongo - don't think I let it slip past me that you mentioned Sonny's BBQ in your inital post about southern food. That is the best BBQ ever. I could eat my weight AND yours in their food. In seminary my buddy and I went every Monday night for all you can eat pork. Waitresses saw us coming and had our drinks waiting for us at the door when we walked in.

I love me some Sonny's. Just ask Rhonda!

Blessings!
