Good Morning Fellow Maelstromers!

It is still morning on my coast. I'm so glad everyone has gathered over here. We're going to the doctors/hospital in a little while and I've been up for a while reading this. You guys make me smile when I need it.

Mel: your song. I love your song!

Lala: why does a banana need a sword?! And why is it even dancing? Weird. Scary weird.

Javamom: congrats on the new job! I'm so happy for you. Seriously. I can't wait to read all about your adventures in the World. If you do make up some shirts, please let us know. I'd love to own one. I'd wear it with pride.

And a point of clarifcation: ANYONE can be a Maelstromer, even if you like the ride, Mark. Although the fact that you like the ride is cause for some concern, but that's really the topic of another thread. Even if you've never been on the ride. Maelstromers are Disers who read and write trip reports and feel some compulsion to join into the every day lives of not-such-complete strangers.

You just have to know the code.

Whenever someone says "Maelstrom,"

the proper response: "is a fastpass?!"

On a less jocular note: please pray for us today. Not a good day in the Zzub house. A lot of emotion.

Zzub, I'm so sorry.

We will definitely say a prayer for you and your family. I wish there were something more we could do but just know that we all send a great big hug your way and will be praying that God will give yall the strength you need to get through this.

:grouphug:

Oh, and on a lighter note, I'm sorry for the masked sword wielding dancing banana man too.

Won't do it again. Promise.

OK, since we can post ANYTHING here :woohoo: how's about some opinions on Crocs at WDW?

Are they really good for walking all day? Don't your feet get all sweaty in 'em? And what's this I hear about putting them in the microwave?????

Help!

Crocs are great... just about anywhere. They are comfortable, they breathe and they're pretty darn ugly. So ugly that they're cute. I think they're cute, anyway. My DH gets stuck on the ugly part. And won't even kiss me if I'm wearing them. Do I care? No! You can't wear bad shoes to WDW. It isn't prudent. I've done it and paid the price.

However... I can give you an example of how GREAT Crocs are. I have a friend named Scott. We'll call him Spot. And then we'll change it, again, and call him Himler. Now... the happyhaunts go camping with Himler. That's right. Camping with Himler. Last summer Himler lead us all on a hike on the Bruce Peninusula which consisted of about 6 hours of walking along a beach over HUGE boulders (not sand), climbing up and down an escarpment and walking through a very narrow unmaintained trail in the woods. Six hours. I was the only one wearing CROCS. No socks... just Crocs. With the strap around the back of my ankle instead of flipped forwards like I usually do. To keep them more secure. I was ALSO the only one who had NO blisters or foot pain afterwards. AND...AND... I scampered over those unstable, rolly boulders just like a mountain goat. They have TRACTION. They're great. Ugly. But... great.

I have a pair of light blue ones (exactly like Mommy's avatar). Mommy is the Paris Hilton of Crocs, though. She has 3 pairs. Not that I'm jealous or anything. I think.

Listen LaLa... Vettechick's ALREADY got her OWN big horns. I need some big horns. I want to wear the big horns. Unless they clash with my Tigger Ears.

And... prayers to you, ZZUB. And your family. Always.

You know we'll all be thinking of you today. Big Maelstrom group hug for ZZUB!!!

Hey all. I was thinkin' a couple of things:

First... we need to RENAME this thread. I was inspired by ZZUB's last post and by Mr. Dan Murphy's comment that The Swan/Dolphin Cheerleaders, who got booted, started a new thread on the CB and it's still goin' strong. So... I was thinking that we should call ourselves and this thread : The Maelstromers ... well? Let's have a vote. All you Maestromers, out there, get in on this vote. 'Cause there seems to be plenty Maelstromers out there. I think.

Also, I think after our new title... we should have a theme song. This is my crappy attempt at that ~ To that famous tune we all know and LOVE:

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
The tale of a locked-up trip

That started on a FASTPASS ride
Aboard a viking ship

The weather started getting rough
And Vette's got locked-up too

Mel made a slight off-colour joke
On that Disboard, we were through!

So this is the tale of the Maelstromers
We're here for a long, long time

We'll have to make the best of it
It's an uphill climb

We're starting out just fine
Disfriends came; we grew and grew

The Mighty ZZUB came to play
He named our new thread, too!

So join us anytime you want
You're sure to get a smile

From many stranded Maelstromers
On this CB isle...

I think. Heh, heh.

Oh... we DO need shirts... we DO!

But... NO BANANAMEN! Geez!!!! LaLa... bad girl, LaLa! Mel.

Ohhhhh can I be a Maelstromer??? Can I? Can I?? Huh? HUH?????

Love the theme song

Alrighty then...I'm climbin' on board the Croc train. Purple for me...or hot pink...or sunshine yellow...or ALL THREE!!!!!!!

I decided to read the Cuthbert trip report on the other board since everyone is complaining that they are fake. I have only read 2 - cause they were pretty much awful. But did anyone else notice that - at least through day 2 - every one of the moderators have responded about how good the posts are? With just a couple of other people? They (mods) are the only ones keeping these reports at the front of the list. I've never noticed every moderator posting on a trip report. What's up with that? Did they write this thing, or know who did? Those reports are awful. I don't get it.

Just thought I'd stir the pot a little bit... :stir:

hee hee hee

Blessings!
Mark

I agree these reports are pretty bad. It is pretty funny how on the first installment, three mods respond (and maybe one other person???) Makes you wonder...

Zzub - I tried to send you a Private message about today, and it wouldn't let me. Just wanted to let you know that I've got you covered in prayer (as do many others). If there's anything else I can do, please let me know.

Blessings!
Mark

Prayers are always good to have. A few extras have gotten me thru a few rough days too. Having a sister that is teminally ill is hard to handle too. Prayers are coming to all that are in need.

:grouphug:

prayers out to you Zzub....:)

Well, I am done playing over on the TR board so can I come and join you all?

Yeah Friday.....is there anything better? Well, maybe Friday at WDW!!

Alrighty...

I'm gonna attempt to change the Title of this Thread. I've got to go back and read Dan Murphy's instructions... which seemed so very complicated yesterday. But not today. 'Cause Techno-Mel laughs in the face of those instructions. Now. Ha! Haaaaa, haaaa!

God... please don't let me spontaneously combust.

Oh yeah. On Friday's, the Maelstromers all do shots of tequila with oranges.

Or else we have a Coke.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Damn! I'm away from my PC for a few hours to SLEEP and look what happened! 6 pages in those hours. Damn......

Mel - LOVE the song! I'm sooo joining the Maelstrom club but my horns need to have blond braids because I am girly that way. I am waiting for the rest of the story with the creepy guy. After I ge back from the weekend I will have a lot to catch up on and I still have to write.

Zzub - hugs out to you and your family!

and I have to tell you guys a funny story....

Tuesday was Drama Queen's (my sister for those not in the know!) 21st birthday.....we had to go over to Lakeland for the party which was at the Texas Cattle Company....

I am not even sure I should be admitting that I am with this party.....

Well we all arrived and of course she was late...English Super Mom and she show up finally about 1/2 hour late and we are all seated - about 15 of us. I am doing Atkins and am limiting myself to wine, so I order a Reisling, Charming - what else - a Bud, English Super Mom - a margarita ---WHOA!!! This woman hasn't had a drink since they came out with premade bloody mary mix! I am positive one drink would put her under the table! I was a little taken aback but whatever....English Super Grandma - ordered a Coke - no wait they don't have Coke products - a Pepsi, with no ice - true to her heritage....and Drama Queen ordered a Flamin' Blue Texas Rose while in the meantime her boyfriend was getting her 2 for 1 Tie Me to the Bedpost's....The Flamin' thing came out and it was a little shorter than the big mugs in Germany....mugs...not jugs....because if you've seen any of my family pics...you know DQ's got her jugs hanging out too.

She was milking the drinks at first and didn't like the TMTTB ones but drank them....she finally finished the Blue Rose as well....she was getting giggly, the fun part of the Buzz, then she was getting loud, more giggly - and if you seated near our party room I AM SO SORRY!

By this time I was standing holding Haley as she was being fidgety and between me and DQ was a high chair - she loves her big sister and she wants to be as close to me as possible....since I am soooo much fun!! (those are her words but the way - sober ones!)

Then I see it...the look....the glazey eye...then the action....the hand over the mouth....no one else is noticing the birthday girl....I couldn't drop my kid and run her to the bathroom...it wouldn't matter there was no time...it came..........up.......and up............all of that Flamin' Blue Texas Rose.....and the other two....I had on strappy black heels....not a great mix....my feet were sticky.

English Super Mom was pretending not to notice, English Super Grandma was exclaiming loudly how she'd have to die her hair before she could come back here....Charming, my brother, DQ's friends were all trying desperately not to laugh and I am holding Haley trying to get a napkin over her dress - thank goodness she wore her hair up....

Samantha kept wondering why she was spitting on the floor....we told her it was due to the bad steak...- yes this could be considered lying to my child....but do we really know it was the alcohol? I mean the filet could have been bad.....

So we scramble to leave - never had any cake which Samantha is still pretty ticked about - and I take the girls outside and get them buckled....pull a cold one out of the cooler and tailgate til the rest of the family comes out....no just kidding! But she went home and not 20 minutes later is calling me to go out...

she wants to go to PI...I am like no way.....am I ever taking you to any place with alcohol! I said she must be adopted as I have never publicly lost it....in the public restroom, sure, in front of millions, no way.

Now going to Florida I have seen my share and been in involved in many drinking escapades.....never have I seen such velocity, even at the frat houses...I have to give her a 10 for that!

English Super Mom called later to say she was sprawled on the porch passed out....

and she was up the next day at 8:50 to the DMV for a new license......can't wait to see the pic!

lillygator...thanks for trying to explain on the TR board how all of us were feeling...it seems, though, that your plight fell on deaf ears...oh well.

At least we have our new home...here...for the Maelstromers. A place where you can sit back, realx, and enjoy the idle chit chat! And to top it off, we will get to hear the rest of Gore, the Bloody Aside...while wearing the big horns!!

yup...and when I asked outright if any of the moderators were writing them, they...

can you guess?

yup.

YANKED my post.

pathetic, pitiful and sad.

That's because they know you know!!

The CB is better anyway. I think I am going to be very happy here. All the cool kids are here (well, except me, I'm the dorky one the cool kids had do their homework!)

Way to go Techno-Mel...lovin' the new thread title!!

Now...how much longer do we have to wait to hear the rest?? I thought this was a FASTPASS!
