As y'all know, I don't post here very often. So I'm more than a little confused by the several posts I've read this morning addressing the racism and meanness. The allegations are pretty general and it is not clear to me what was the underlying offense.
However, something Horsegirl just posted, "and not Zoob either on that thing you said about humor" makes me think that I was one of the offenders.
Having searched my mind for what I posted here in the last week which could trigger this reaction, the only thing I could think of was my name the caption contest for the thong picture. Horsegirl chastised me when it was posted and I clarified then that I was not making fun of the person's weight, but rather her willigness to bare her previously unmentionables in public. Realizing my humor could be misinterpreted, I changed the subject. So I'm more than a little concerned that a week later I am potentially being chastised for it again.
On balance, I think I exercise my humor to uplift and it is seldom at anyone's expense. Maybe people read the repartee between me and Mel or me and LaLa and think we're being mean. We're not. I'm also pretty quick to come alongside people and encourage them. And when I cross the line, I'm pretty quick to apologize for it. At the same time, I've had my name changed, associated with all manner of extra curricular activity and used as punchline in someone else's tag. Where I found that humor over the line, I asked for people to leave me out of that line of joking.
Maybe none of the above posts were referenced about me, although Horsegirl's most recent post is hard to take any other way. The point is, if something I posted was offensive to y'all, I'd appreciate you telling me directly. If I'm wrong I'll apologize. If I think you're wrong, I'll tell you so and we can argue (in the classic sense, not the bickering sense) about it. I reckon there are a lot of people reading this thread today wondering whether y'all are talking about them and that's no way to make people feel. It's no way to resolve conflict.
