Just a quick note to say
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

to all you mothers out there, and step-mom's too

You are very important people :)

I would make it all big and fancy but I don't know how LOL

Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely mothers on this thread! Hope your kids and DHs treat you like the goddesses you are, at least for today (although really, it should be every day). And now, a quick definition of the mothers among you:

M aelstromming
O verly charming
T rip report writing (but in some cases, not finishing, *cough* Haley
*cough*)
H eck on wheels
E nticing
R eal cutie pies.

Now, get out there and tell your husbands to treat you right -- or they are going to have to answer to Lou's clown. :teeth:

Thank you Horseygirlie and Kimmie for the love on my mini trip report whathaveyou.

Happy Mother's Day to all and for Katy(?) YES, Stepmothers count. I think it is wonderful that your stinkerbelle wants to call you Mommy. My daughter calls her Stepmom by her first name, but I have told Emily that it is ok to call her Mom also. I guess we are lucky also, I was divorced for many years and I really like his new wife. Heck, I feel like we could be sisters.

Also, I think it was Jamal who mentioned the adoption party. I agree with you that all mothers should be honored as well. Some make choices, and some have choices made for them and sometimes, well, sometimes bad things happen. Anyway, to all who are here, Happy Mother's Day. Call your moms!

We're about to slip to page two, and I won't stand for it. Running to the store for supplies before the big Survivor night. Have fun all - any predictions? I think Terry SHOULD win, though I don't know if he will or not.

Blessings!

If Cerie gets in the final two, she wins. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot. Aras v. Terry, Aras wins (too many Casaya members on the jury); Terry v. Danielle, Terry wins (none of the other girls like Danielle). Should be interesting.

No Survivor here tonight ... the kids off to bed early, then West Wing, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy ! :cloud9: The best night in television.

We had a lovely lunch over at my brother's house -- his GF made stuffed shells, garlic bread and salad -- yum!! And brownies with whifft cream and strawberries for dessert. Double yum!!! My mom came, as well as my sister and her kiddos. It was a nice time, and best of all, no cooking!

Course we had to do some fording of flooded roads to get there ... I'm glad to be safely back at home.

GREYS ANATOMY WATCHER HERE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HORRRAY!!!!!!!!

isn't it the two day finale starting tonight?

[Melons, now you have discovered my secret. If I were to tell you that I LOVE the Poly and have absolutely no problem shelling out the cash for a week's stay or two, then you would have no reason to resort to "persuasion" now would you?

WOW

your intellect impresses me O master...

good thing I married a simple man... :lmao:

Oh Grey's Anatomy...how I do love thee...Dr. McDreamy...*sigh* Dr. Burke...*sigh* love em all!!!

hey Em's mom, thanks for saying we step mom's count too!!! :)

hope everyone is having a fab day!!!

Melons, I am guessing based on the trailers (do they call it that for TV?) that Issy does something illegal/unethical to procure a heart for Denny.

I was so glad that McDreamy flipped out at Mer last week. That was great!

Hello EVERYONE

and
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

So, I got to sleep in until 9:30 this morning. I can't even remember the last time I did that without being sick. It has been raining here for soo long I forget what the sun looks like, but...it does help when sleeping in....no sun shining thru the windows.

Kids gave me some really sweet homemade gifts and cards, and we went to brunch. :goodvibes

Now, down to business...
Thank goodness for DVD recorder...I am addicted to Survivor...hope Terry wins (he could be the first ever to win the car and the money, though I doubt it). And I LOVE Gray's Anatomy. I was NOT happy with Mc Dreamy last week when he basically called Merideth a *****. McDreamy was so NOT a FASTPASS...

Move It Or Lose It People - Part 1 of 3

Since I was asked so sweetly, here is my Manhattan trip report. I decided on Friday morning to hop in the car and tool down to the city that doesn’t sleep. Bridget, affectionately known to many of you as accident girl came with. The other two had to work and DH did not want to come. What???? I swear, sometimes I wish I was married to a gay guy – you know, someone who loves make-up, fashion, shopping and trip planning. But no, alas he is straight – hence my 3 children – and he would rather camp than shop. I guess I was a little slack in my training.

The funny part about this mad cap adventure was that many of you came with me. Tiny voices in my head. Keeping the other ones company I guess. I so wanted to share with you all where I was staying before I left but JW’s voice kept warning me about giving out too much information! So mad props to you sweetie, for keeping me safe.

The drive down was uneventful except for one, major irritant. Other cars. On my highway. In the middle of a weekday. What’s up with that?? Move it or loose it people, I’ve got a date with destiny and that destiny is 5th Avenue. All the way from 44th to 85th and you’d better not get in my way.

Pooh and Grammy have a franchise in Grand Central Station! The Café Spice. I didn’t bring my camera so I lifted this from their website.
84902getpic.jpg

I did take some pic's with my cell, but as many of you know, my laptop went back to the mothership (an issue with its male part d/t too much dissing) and the desktop my DH set up for me in the interim has no bluetooth softywary thingie on it.

I stayed at the fab-u-lous Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Can you say NYS employee discount people? $250/night savings. I ain’t cheap but I do love me a bargain. At check-in I very casually said to the hotel checkie-innie guy, “Does my room happen to have a Times Square view?” He replied, “Let me see what I can do…..why yes, it does.” Score! See, I am not a flirt. All it takes is a sweet smile and a friendly attitude. I practically skip to my room in anticipation.

A little aside here. We, and by we I mean my DH and me, have a skill. It is highly honed and we have passed it down to our children. We are the parking lot room view family. We could be the only people staying in a hotel. It wouldn’t matter. We’d throw open our curtains and lo and behold, we’d have the superfantabulous parking lot view. I kid you not. It’s our gift.

Back to the story. I skip to our room, throw open the curtains, and holy smokes, Times Square, in its full technicolor glory, front and center in my 35th floor, corner room picture window. LaLa, I was yellow! Thank you hotel checkie-innie guy! LYMI and you are the fastest of passes. I even said this out loud. Accident girl said, “better not tell Dad” but (see note above regarding our family talent) somehow, I knew he wouldn’t mind. Smack dab in the middle was the pole they drop the ball down on NY’s eve. I was dancing. Hey, I was pole dancing. Guess I don’t need vettechick’s lessons after all. Good thing too since she’s canceled them twice.

Dinner with Steven and Jimi, Show or Shopping and NYC Mass Transit Is Not A Fastpass - Part 2 of 3

Quick dinner with Steven and Jimi at the Hard Rock (I am a classic rock girl at heart) and then here’s where you all popped back into my head. Decision time. Shopping or show? Show or shopping? All you thespians were shouting Show! Show! and Pongo was shouting Shopping! Shopping! Shopping won folks and I’m not ashamed to admit it. The 5th Avenue prowl commenced. First stop – Sephora. I am a makeup forever girl. I enjoy being a girl. A girly girl. And make up is the cream in my coffee. Except I drink it black. The Ying to my Yang then. My 2 new favorite lines are Benefit and Tarte. Because really, can’t we all Benefit from a little Tarte??

Next stop Henri Bendel. I had never been here before but it has many, many fabulous things. Cashmere, bags, cosmetics.....

Bergdoff’s next. My dear BIL could not meet up with us as he is touring, currently in Ohio, in Grease. My dear BIL is the one that introduced me to my DH. We both did summer theatre when we were younger but he continued to pursue it and makes a career of it. My dear BIL’s GF however, was in town and works at Bergdoff’s. Can you say 30% employee discount people?? Cha Ching!! Horsey, sorry, I forgot to tell you about the little black number I picked up here. 'Cause, of course you can never have enough, just right, little black cocktail dresses. Mama likey. A lot. Perhaps I shall bring it in October. I’m sure I can find somewhere to wear it.

BTW, BTW, the NYC Mass transit system is not a fastpass. It is no Tube. It is so easy to navigate the entire city of London on the Tube. Red line is red, Blue is blue, yellow, yellow. And the map totally corresponds. The NYC subway system is a beast of a different color. The maps are colored but the trains are numbered. The numbers are not on the map and the colors are not on the trains. What’s that all about people? But I am not an adventuress for nothing and I have no problem seeking out attention. I do just fine. And Horsey, I thought of you when I saw the mounted street cops with the fine steeds.

Too bad. I was in the city yesterday visiting my mom for Mothers Day. We could have met up. Way to go JW. :(

Last edited by Loubon : Today at 06:25 PM. Reason: Or maybe it is people like me he was warning you about?????

Yes, Lou, I think it was. Somehow, I think the flashing chicken might have scarred my child for life! :rotfl2:
