Well I also loved her response to him --- I was just sick of them both acting in love when they (well, HE) had decided that they weren't going to be together.

Photo taken 5/11 outside of the Land pavillion. Notice the DisBoards logo and the Crocs graphic. Does it belong to you? Sorry we missed ya!

It could be Scrappinmom. My sister said she bumped into her at MK last week, and that she had the stroller all decorated. Apparently she (scrappinmom) is writing some sort of a book, and was giving away freebies (glowsticks, ice cream coupons, etc).

Shelby, did you see my sis? They were in the Springs building (middle one) and probably spent a lot of time at the pool. 3 kids 4 and under -- all platinum blonde. They got back last night and said they had a great time and loved SSR.

Here's a little report from moi!

Friday after work I picked up the kiddos and headed downtown to a local festival kick-off parade.

We grabbed some eats at the over-priced food court and people-watched. Zurg would have been impressed at some of the completely inappropriate footwear I witnessed there. Sadly, I did not think to run home for my camera before we left to go there, or I would have taken a shot or two.
Sum it up to say: platform camo with the laces up the leg. I wonder how many points was that worth?

After snarfing junk food with maximum velocity, we headed toward the parade route to find a spot. Set up my portable chair with arm rests and cup holder, spread a blankie for the kids, and then notice an older couple from my church right in front of us. They signaled for my kiddos to come up closer with them, and all was good in the world. The parade, sadly, was not a fastpass. It had it's great moments, like when the various soliders, sailors, fireman, etc..w ould pass by and everyone would stand and clap. It was on the whole, underwhelming. The kids of course, loved most of it.

We stuck around for several hours and headed toward the river to find a good spot to watch the fireworks. Now, normally, I would not head to this location, as in the past, there has been trouble with kids fighting and whatnot here. But I noticed that this year, they had the fabulous idea of fencing it all in and making sure that people that entered had admission buttons and the entrances and exits were policed. So, I felt safe taking my 2 kiddos with me, alone, into a park at night. We found a little hill next to a water fountain and settled in.

Actually, I settled in and the kids entertained themselves on the hill. They rolled down and down again. I then challenged them to roll up the hill instead. I struck up a conversation with the only other hill occupants, a couple with 2 little grandchildren. Our kids all played together and had a great time. He was an ER doctor, and yes, I shared an abbreviated version of the story in my signature. I focused only on the reaction the PA had when she saw my wound. He loved it, cracked up. Said he's seen more than one PA hit the floor.

The Grandma treated all the kids to cotton candy. Picture 6 kids hyped up on sugar chasing each other around a hill. Actually it was a win-win situation because we ended up with the whole hill for just us 6 people. I told myself it was because the park was just at lower-than-normal occupancy... sure that was why, right?

We had a lovely evening, said our goodbyes after the fireworks and made the long trek back to the vehicle. Amazingly, it only took about 10 minutes to exit the downtown area. That has to be a record?

Saturday night after church, I got an email inviting me to be an alpha tester for a new online game, called Bang Howdy. Yes, it has a cowboy theme. It is very different for anything I have seen thus far, but then again, I haven't played but a couple of the many ones that are out there. My favorite being www.puzzlepirates.com
Yes, I am a bit of a gamer geek, it's the computer geek within! So Bang Howdy was fun and continues to be so. Later that night, I took the kids to the second-run theatre to see The Pink Panther. We all laughed and laughed. Today, the kids are still running around saying "I want to buy a cheeseburger" with a really bad, extreme, French accent. Frankly, it sounds more like they are regurgitating (that one's for you Zzub) - seriously it does.

This afternoon, hubby took all (and his Mom) to a Mother's Day Brunch at the Hilton. It was very yummy and I had the best prime rib, yummm! I came home and messed around with Bang Howdy some more, took a nap. I woke up to the smell of fire, but it was just the barbecue grill. Hubby made some hotdogs and sausage for us. It was delish! Now I am Dis-ing and catching up on my Maelstrom friends.

All-in-all an excellent Mother's Day weekend. I hope you all had a great one too!

Oh yes, I did talk to my mother too. I sent her a Pooh and Friends sweatshirt with my kid's names on it from Disneyshopping.com. She will love it to wear to her quilting retreats.

Later 'stromers!

Me TOOOOO! That was soo sad.

No school tomorrow ---- too many roads closed and washed out. I'm supposed to drive out to Portsmouth to meet a client ... I'm thinking "no." I'll find a way to get to the office to answer the phone, but not driving further away than that.

DH just called me. He is working out in this horrible rain. Again. He had to work last night too. Last night he had to respond to a HUGE fire in the middle of a downpour. He came home SOAKED.

Tonight he has had to rescue several people who, for whatever reason, decided to go down mostly flooded streets. Sometimes it makes you wonder what goes through peoples minds. DH said he saw big heavy construction equipment floating in some areas...and people would still try to drive down the street...in small cars. It just doesn't make sense.

SChool was cancelled here too. The kiddos will be happy about that. In the meantime I have to sit here and wait for a lull in the rain. My dogs are too 'cool' to go out in the rain. One of them hasn't peed all day. I am actually impressed by his ability to 'hold it'. Hopefully he doesn't spring a leak!!!

Man I hope you all dry out soon!!

Our last stop before we hit the road for the return trip was the site of the World Trade Center. It is both painfully haunting and wistfully hopeful. Like most New Yorkers I know, my BIL won’t speak of it much. Gone, but not forgotten, and may God have mercy on my soul, not forgiven. In all my days I will never comprehend the utter lack of regard for human life. Ever. And I hope that sentiment, gone, but not forgotten, will be reflected in whatever they eventually agree to do at that site. Reflection there makes you thank God for what you’ve got and quit yer bellyaching about what you don’t. And hold your loved ones close. For the future is uncertain, and can’t be forseen.

Sheri/Chris, you were right near my old office and if you saw the firestation there on Liberty Street, TenHouse, you may have seen my brother. He is the cutest firefighter there. When I lived in NY I worked on Broad Street. I agree with you 100% about gone but not forgotten and not forgiven. I have moments where I relive my experience all the time. And sadly, this is why I live in Virginia now as opposed to NY.

Ok, it's times like this that I wish that I watched more TV than I do. I just find that I have no time for it. I spend most of my "free" time here with you guys or playing a puzzle game or two. It's not that I don't like TV, I do. It's just that there are only so many hours... enjoy for me, eh?!

Ooooh that was good stuff. Okay, it looked like Burke was dead. But in the previews for next week, he obviously isn't. Right?

I kept thinking McDreamy and Meredith were gonna go at it in the elevator. I just knew they were. :sad2:

Forget McDreamy and bring back McSteamy. OMG. Now he was hot.

I know one webmaster who was muttering the same refrain at the television set... Burke? What the heck? What an ending!!! And Izzie... I still can't believe she did that...

Tomorrow night's two hours long... and they have a LOT of loose ends to tie up for us.

Okay, I have to brag on my men here for a minute.

Yall remember Sheridac's bling she got for her birthday? Guess which Mama got one just like it for Mother's Day today. And then guess which Mama got taken out for dinner last night and after church today too? Yeah, little ole me. I even laid down for a nap and in comes DH with a CD. It was that rainstorm relaxing stuff. He pops it in and goes "Just thought you might like this". And actually closes the door and leaves the room. For like, hours. I napped all afternoon. The kids were on their best behavior. So then DH cooks chicken on the grill for supper and while I was cleaning up the kitchen afterwards, DS sees me. He comes up to me and says "Mom, today's Mother's Day. You shouldn't have to mop. Here. Let me do that for you." The child is eight. What the heck, I let him. He was beaming. Oh, I love my men. And my girl.

I got much love for the fam tonight.

Sheridac, LOVE the Manhattan MiniTrip. Must've been awesome to be at the WTC site. You know, awesome and heartwrenching all at the same time. I cried myself to sleep every night for three weeks straight right after 9/11. And I'm sure I probably wasn't the only one. I don't think we as a nation will ever forget those scenes.

Javamom: Hey, do ya still have the Maelstrom shirt logo laying around? I need to get you to send it to me. I'll pm ya. LY/MI

ZZUB: Okay, the first rule of thumb when you ask a group of women for their opinion is that you must follow up once the decision has been made. So spill it. What'd you end up doing about Mrs. ZZUB's Mother's Day gift? Inquiring minds want to know. Oh, BTW, I LOVE the scripture in your signature line. That one has given me a lot of strength along the way. I knew I liked you. You know, in a strictly platonic way. Not stalkerish or an over the line kind of way. Just in the you deserve a farting head on a moped kind of way. :moped:

Allright, when is Melly Mel coming back? I miss that crazy canuck. Can't wait to hear what adventures that brood of hers got into. I bet she took some creative photos, don't yall?

OK, you all have me more interested in catching this show than ever. Is there any way I could start watching and have a clue about what's happened if I've never seen it?

Definitely, Jamal! It's on DVD, too. In case you WANT to start from the beginning.
