Hello, Michelle!

I had to get up at 5:30 this morning to take DH to the train station. But I stopped at McDonald's on the way home and got the girls some hotcakes and sausage. I even got them a Pirates Happy Meal toy. I'm mighty popular at my house today.

Did you see FC started a new thread and people started saying the usual stuff and the mods got on and reminded people to be nice? I was glad. FC has his quirks, yes, but I don't like to see people being so mean right out where he can see. That's what PMs are for.

I'd rather have someone be mean to me in a PM than out in the open for everyone to see!

Ok, I have to ask, being new here and all, but what is with that guy? I am a little confused: He posts as a man and a boy. He has Suzy and Perla as mommies and he says he is Flowers Child. Can someone please set me straight on this without it becoming and issue?

i'm a strom fan! i find it calming!! no AC on here, just got all the sliding doors open and windows creating a fabulous cross breeze!!

i'm sure in a coupla hours it will be time to turn on the air!

Lucky you, we have had 3 days of 95+ heat and a heat index of over 100. I'm tired of heat and I want some relief. Thank god for A/C.

I feel your pain, we had to replace ours last year. Our house is only 9 years old. We had a Janitrol (or as A/C guy called it, Junkitrol) and replaced it with a Fedders, went up in size too. I'm not sure it is cooling as well this summer as the old one did last year before it went out. Good Luck!!

I can help you with this! If you went up in size but are not getting the cooling you expected, the problem may be that your ducts are not sized for the larger ac unit. Did your guy count all your ducts and measure the dimensions of your room? This will give you an accurate picture of what tonnage you want your ac to be.

Plus, and here's another problem, if your furnace is a 4 ton unit, and they put in a 5 ton ac, the ac can run maximally at 4 tons only. So you paid for 5 tons but your ducts and your furnace (which is a separate unit from the ac unless you have a heat pump) are only rated for 4 tons.

If you have the reverse, a larger furnace but a smaller ac, that's ok, because the blower unit on the furnace is what powers the ac. You just can't go in the opposite direction. If you have a heat pump this does not apply.

I would call your ac guys back, if you know the tonnage of your ac is larger than the tonnage of your furnace, they messed up and need to fix it. Also, if it's still under warranty you should be able to get them out there to do what's called a Manual J house measurement for accurate sizing of your ac.

If it's not the right size you'll pay more in energy bills, and potentially have trouble with mold/mildew in the ducts.
