Been very busy since returning from WDW. Took a couple days off this week to help my oldest with his Eagle Scout Project - his project was to paint 4 buildings in the city park. Took him 3 days to complete with the help of 12-16 boys (and 2 adults) each day.

My MIL is here this week-end and it has been dang hot (mid 90's).

I still need to fill you in on our trip.

How about you?

Wow!! Your son is getting his Eagle Scout award? That's awesome! My brother was really involved in scouting as well; when he got his Eagle award it was a big deal. My dad was moved to tears!! So when is your son's award ceremony?

Yes, you still need to fill us in on your trip! Don't think we forgot, Mr.!

As for me, I went back to work this week and that was a big adjustment. But I'm sure each week will get better and better. Not much time to DIS anymore though. :guilty: My girls have one week left before school starts.

I have not forgotten. Just been very busy with work and family.

He still has a few merit badges to earn befor he will get his Eagle. He needed to complete a project and getting it done before school starts was the best (they start school on the 5th). Even the summer was hard because he works and has an "un-girl friend" (she is his girl friend - he just wont admit it, they do everything together).

Anyway, I am hoping he will have his Eagle before school is out this year. I need to get my youngest motivated - he still hasn't earned his 1st class and he's been in for 2 years now.

What type of job did you get?

I'm teaching pre-school. They hired me to be their Kindergarten teacher, but this year they are not doing private Kindergarten because they did not have a teacher in time and they had already told the parents it was canceled for this year. So I'll teach Pre-K this year and then next year I'll teach Kindergarten, like I usually do.

DW has taught pre-school for several years and now she has gone back to school to be a teacher (only 1 1/2 - 2 years left). She misses being in the class with the kid though.

Though I must say, your dang hot would be a cold front here.

You know what, Paige? I totally understand what you are saying. Vegas was H*LL! We come here to Virginia and people think the summers here are going to be all terrible for us because it's humid. PLEASE!! Okay, yeah, we have had some humid days here, and they aren't that pleasant. But The temperature varies here during the summer (low 80's up to high 90's). In Vegas, nearly EVERY day during the summer was above 100 degrees and many days it was above 110 degrees. There was no reprieve. Spring was hot, fall was hot until November. I am LOVING this weather here.

What grade does your wife want to teach?

To me, pre-k is more difficult than Kindergarten, yet Kindergarten teachers get paid more because we have to have a degree. I'm looking forward to moving back to Kindergarten.

Early Education K-3

She had 2 years of school before we got married and then earned her CDA several years back and loves to teach.

Hi Cy. :wave2:

Bonnie.........There's a federal Pre-K program that is in the public schools. This is the Pre-K I taught. They are required to be degreed and certified and are on the same pay scale as all public school teachers. Just FYI, in case you find you prefer Pre-K to K.

I thought to teach Pre-K in the public schools you had to have a degree in early childhood education. My degree is in elementary ed and I didn't think I could teach anything else (not that I want to). Trust me, I won't prefer Pre-K to K!! :teeth:

Vegas is ridiculously hot.........we're usually 5-10 degrees cooler, but sometimes more. We're up to like 27 straight days of 104 and above...........same time period without rain. 40 days or so of above 100 this season.

Aw, you never know! I am degreed in elementary ed. I just had to be certified early childhood. In my case, since the Oklahoma degree was K-8, the Texas certification was PK-2 or 1-6 or 1-8. They let me take the certification exams for the general elem ed 1-8, with PK/K endorsement. I also now have my ESL and G/T endorsements. After I had experience teaching all those, the endorsements changed over to certifications. Don't you just love bureaucracy?

What is a G/T endorsement?

Hey, Paige, speaking of tricks......I just sent Brent that Snakes on a Plane phone call from Sammuel L Jackson. He was rolling. We have no desire to see the movie, but it was funny to do the personalized phone call.

I need to go. It's time to start up Fever Pitch. Later!

Guess what just happened, cousins? RAIN! AND IT IS 82 DEGREES! It must be the magic of the DIS coming truuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....................don't you think?

Cool!!!!!!!!! For the first time in a looong time, I am cool. My grass is ALL watered for free courtesy of mother nature (and during the FORBIDDEN hours, too).

How 'bout you?
