hi gals! happy Saturday morning! I'm super excited today because we are going on a little mini-vacation today! we're going to the lake side of Michigan and stay at a pretty place and go to the park. I can't wait-even though they say it may rain the whole time

yeah, we get an early spring break (College). I'm up in Massachusetts, so we can still get snow into the beginning of April!! That stinks for my teams, I have 5 spring teams practicing and playing and it's a pain to have to change locations, cancel officials, cancel buses, cancel meals, plan inside practices, etc.

One year we didn't get to play on our regular field until towards the end of April. We're out of school the 2nd week of May, Graduation is usually the day before Mother's Day. Such is College Athletics I guess. Our saying up here is "This is New England, wait 15 minutes and the weather will change!"

So what exactly do you do, JeannY? You teach college?

no I'm an Admin Assistant in the Athletic Department. Kind of the assistant to the Athletic Director. I have 11 teams, 4 in the fall (Football, men's & women's soccer, & volleyball) 2 "winter" (men's & women's basketball) and 5 spring (baseball, golf, men's & women's lacrosse and softball).

I have to take care of the whole department, coaches, staff, student-athletes, plus I cover the Sport Fitness Studies major and do everything for those instructers/professors. Thank goodness for computers and the decision that was made a few years ago that the professors had to type up and copy each of their own tests, quizzes, instructions, etc.

I don't have enough time in my day to do what needs to be done now, I can't imagine what it would be like if I had to do 7 professors/instructors tests etc. I've taught them to use power point, etc. so they can use their laptops right in their classrooms.

Extremely busy, luckily I work all year, not just the academic year. The kids are so funny when they're leaving for vacation/break or for the summer, they'll say "have a nice break or have a nice vacation, etc." they think we're off all break or summer too. I say to them "ya know all that stuff you get during the summer? well, I'm the one who works here all summer doing that!"

I really do love my job too! People will ask my boss things, and he'll say to them, "I don't know, ask Jeanny, she knows what's going on!"
His wife gave me a sign for my desk "Do you want to the Man in charge? or to the Woman who knows what's going on?"

John will "remind" me of something that needs to be done, I've already done it. I've been over here in this position for 11 years and I was in another department for 6, so it amazes new staff/coaches what I know. I actually had to show John where the circuit breakers for the building were and he's been here 6 years longer than me!
