The Mad Chatters thread Part 14

I am going to do a few things before I have to make dinner! I'll probably be back sometime tonight!

The only thing I don't like about the TGM site is it is somewhat overwhelming at first...just the sheer amounts of info he has. I also found it confusing the first time I used it (I no longer do). Another thing is about 3/4 of the info on his site could be found here on the DIS (the 1/4 you don't see really rocks though...like his park day ratings...I could go on and on about the beauty of those) but it's easy to get to there (once you figure his somewhat strange "filing" system out) and you don't have to ask a question and hear 24 people bicker over it to get an answer. He also hosts a chat board...while it is in NO WAY anywhere as big or as hoppin' as the DIS you can usually get pretty intelligent answers fairly quickly there if you cannot find a piece of info you are looking for. I will qualify that with the people who frequent the TGM boards are intensely loyal to doing things TGM's way. So...if you don't want to follow his suggestions...don't ask there! :lmao:

NO :sad1: ...with this trip to Maine this fall we will be broke.

DO TELL about your trip. I have always wanted to go to Maine and go whale watching, see the stunning parks and see the fall colors and soak up the atmosphere. It is on my must do list for me.

I get the Unofficial guide every year and a few other guidebooks....I am a over planner. I like the park crowd ratings though...that could help a lot. Once you pay you get access to it for a year?

We flew last time but this time I want to drive so we can see New England :)
I don't have a lot planned yet but we want to stop in Washington DC, Philly, Boston and Salem. Also Cape Cod, DH lived there for awhile when we was a kid. We love lighthouses so there will be plenty of those to pick from :) His grandparents ( the reason we are going ) live in Belfast ME....which is in the middle of the Maine coast. Very neat little town full of artists...thats what his grandmother is. We will have about 17 days, DH is taking two weeks vacation...it is about 22-24 hours to get to where they live if you drove straight there....thats about all we have planned so far.

Actually it's for one trip. So I always buy in right after my last trip...then I use TGM to scope out the best time for my next trip (ie lowest crowd times) and then I input my travel dates. About 2 weeks after the trip it does expire...but then I just renew again with a guesstimate of my next trip. You can keep bumping it back until you take another trip. So knowing May 2008 you could buy in now and then use the site to gather info until then. Even by checking on things further out. If you thought hmmmm....I don't wanna go in May, I would rather September 2008 then you can update your travel dates. It's a good deal (I think). :)

I would trade a week at WDW to get to do that. It sounds fantastic!! What an amazing time you will have!! What sort of artist is dh's grandma?

Oh and I just checked...you can input a travel date up to the year 2010! So it might not be a bad idea to join early!! ;)

Lastly, I used to buy guides each year as well. I have not purchased one since I found TGM...so it saves me money!! :)

I do still check them out from the library to double check (I am neurotic) but I have found all of the info I need at TGM. And he's so current. Up to the minute (well, give or take a few) with info!!

I am excited about it...just a lot of planning to get done before September.
She has done it all....she experimented with all types of painting and paints. We have two of her canvases in our living room. I love them. Now she does mostly greeting cards and she does a series of santa clauses every year. They are wood cut outs and she paints them to represent different countries versions of Santa.

I will have to do that sometime :) Dh's whole family is artistic...not me :sad2:
FIL was made pottery for awhile and was good at it. DH's little sister is an amazing sketch artist.

Where are you all staying for your WDW trip ? And how long?
