Does anyone know if the new laws about having to have a passport to go to the caribbean have gone into effect yet? We are taking a caribbean cruise in May and need to know if we need one or if we can use our birth certificate.

The girls had a great Christmas! We are enjoying our week off!

Does anyone have MSN messenger? I am having so much fun with it, it's like a new toy!!

So glad to hear...

I don't have MSN. DS does the AOL version. How does it work??

Great question. I thought they extended the deadline until 2008, but I have seen things about needing one still. So i don't know :confused3

You can chat back and forth and you can add other people into the chat. I just joined MSN so I could have an account and chat with people.

Since it's not till May you might want to just get them. Even if they aren't enforcing it right now they could get very strict at any time... you wouldn't want to have to pay extra to rush them... and then you'll have them for 5 or 10 years. Who knows the way things are going before long we might need them just to get on a plane!

Kim this is from the governments website:
Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

No I think the answer is not yet.

Bye Bonnie!

Thanks for the info. We are going to go ahead and get passports just in case. If we miss the boat we would have no way of getting on a plane and would be stuck.
