It's been a crappy day. Really crappy. I did not sleep very well last night. I kept having this insane dream, and every time I'd wake up, then go back to sleep, the dream would continue!! Needless to say, I'm really angry with DH for being so rotten in my dream.

This is one I have not heard of. Are civilian's now living in military housing? If so why, when there are waiting lists on most posts?


DS and DDIL are both active military. They no longer live on post but thet had to start paying utilities before they moved. I think utilities should be included in your housing allowance. But then we all know military families are the "rich" people. Gee you guys get paid so well for putting your lives on the line.

They have let a company (outside of the government) take over housing on base. So they are rebuilding or refurbishing all of the housing on base & we now pay BAH to live here. As of now we get free utilities, lawn maintence, reg. & emergency maintenece........basically everything you got before (except the lawn maintence).
DH (Fire Eater) might have a better explaination than I do.

We both think it's rediculious to pay what we are to live in this 1950's 1000sq ft crud of a house (you know I want to call it something else). Anyone who has lived in base housing knows exactly what I'm talking about.
That is why we are looking out in town for our own house.

My DH is no longer active military, but we lived in base housing both here and in GA. We never really wanted to, but thought when we got here that DH would be off to pilot training fairly quickly (didn't happen--long story, we ended up staying 4 years) and then in GA they had just been pulled off base closure list and we were uncertain about buying there for fear that it would close and the community would have no one to buy our home when we moved(we were only there 2 1/2 years, and it turns out it we should have bought, but we were young and stupid)
Anyway, around here (Offutt AFB) the housing has been privatized, run by a management company. They are required to keep occupancy of a certain percentage (I don't know the actual #) and if it dips below that then the units can be rented out to civilians. For starters, base housing isn't actually
on base (not all of it anyway) and thus there is no problems with civilians having access. The houses ARE very old and while fairly well cared-for, they have problems(poor insulation, windows, etc.--these have been built and maintained by the lowest bidders for years, after all. Around here the housing allowance is good enough and the market has allowed many to be able to buy rather than pay their entire BAH to the military. Also, according to rumor, the rent for civiilians isn't the same as those giving up their BAH which doesn't seem fair, either. Also, officers and enlisted are not paying the same amount for the same house, which bothers some people. My new neighbor, who just moved in the last month from housing, said she just didn't feel safe there any longer when her DH was deployed. I could go on and on about my feelings about this, but I will spare you all that!

I am the foreman with the whip, but I also pick the crabs -- when and if I have the time (or the inclination). My main job is to weigh the crabmeat and check it to make sure there aren't any bones.

Crab poisoning is an infection you get from crabs that gets into your blood stream from the cuts and knicks you get from picking. It happens more often if you get poked or biten by a live crab, but it's also possible to get it if you cut yourself on a cooked crab, too.

Basically, you grab the crab the wrong way, and get poked. With a live crab, it's because of all the bacteria and other yucky things on the crab. With a cooked crab, it's most likely because you have some type of allergic reaction to the crab.

So what happens, the poke turns into a streak. The infection starts spreading through your veins or something (making it look like a red streak).

I poked my thumb yesterday, and now I have a red streak down my thumb, across my wrist, and halfway to my elbow. The entire streak kind of burns on the inside and is tender to the touch. My whole arm is stiff and sore.

I took some antibiotics and hopefully that will help. I know one person that had it for a few days before they ended up having to go to the hospital, and the ER told him it was a good thing he came in when he did, because the infection almost made its way to his heart.

Yes I did thanks for noticing. I am sure it makes my butt look big bc well my butt is big I got it from JJ's shopping cart thread but it is sad that I cant type bc now my tag has my own darn name spelled wrong.

I hate the mall! It was a zoo today. What is up with that on a Thurs morning , it wasnt a holiday or school day off bc it was all little kids.

Tried to go to Stride Rite they were packed. I like to get Ds5's shoes there bc of his physical therapy issues. I settled on New Balance ones at Modells since I had to go there and return the baseball cleats. Of course the baseball cleats cost more too bc they didnt have the same exact pair

Then we tried pants at the Gap. DS5 is now a husky so they dont have them there, only online

The the indoor playground was packed so I reminded DS5 to be careful bc of the little ones. He has never been little and parents always give the eyeball when he is on there. Well this one kid wanted to play with DS5 (he was probably 2 or 3) and the mom wouldnt let him. DS was playing tag with another girl and this kid asked to play so DS tagged him and the mother flew up out of her chair and glared. WTH? I was watching DS5 like a hawk the whole time 1) bc he is bigger and 2) he has his physical limitations so I dont want him getting hurt. He did nothing more than tag the kid. Not even hard. Jeez go to your own private park if you dont want your kid near anyone

So I treated DS and myself to TWO trips thru the drive thru , McDs for him and Taco Bell for mommy

We have had guys at my work get blood poisioning from not wearing gloves when handling some of the metals they work with. One guy waited till it was almost to late to say anything. He ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks

Well, IAHD, since none of my crab meat makes it to Red Sox Nation, you'll have to forward your complaints elsewhere. But if you tell me where you got the meat, I'll be more than happy to call my competitor and complain about their terrible product!!

However, Lara could possibly end up with my meat. But I doubt that also since she likes to pick her own crabs.

The bloodstream is very pure. So if anything gets into your system, whether it be bacteria or any other foreign thing, it can cause havoc. Since we deal with pointy things like crabs and knives, we're always getting pricked and stuck by something.

I'm currently running a low grade fever, so I'm keeping a very close eye on the situation. I took an antibiotic that I had for my spider bite that I didn't finish.
