I don't know why I didn't think to look at Bass Pro Shop before. They have some, and I think I see the exact one my DH has been looking for.

He found some guy selling blue crabs by the bushel, so I see a crab feast in my near future.

If Bass Pro doesn't have them, I can tell you that we got ours at Home Depot. Or maybe it was Lowes. Either way, it was one of those stores.

Not that I use ours that often. Since we have a commercial grade steam box that cooks 15 bushel at a time, I just steam my crabs at the crab house. I don't have any pots to clean that way!!

I posted this over on the budget board but I was hoping ony of you guys know the answer to this question... TIA

I have only made a couple of Ebay purchases in the past and I have a question about an auction that I won yesterday. The item was a video game and the shipping listed on the auction was $10.00. I contacted the seller to verify that this was the correct shipping rate was $10.00 because it seemed more like an estimate. I waited most of the day for a response (didn't get one) and decided to go ahead and process the payment with my credit card. Well I didn't notice that he only accepted paypal and I couldn't remember my paypal password so I decided to try again when I got home from work. On my second attempt at payment the seller had added $5.00 Shipping Insurance. This amount was not listed in the original auction and it was not listed on the Pay It Now secion when I attempted to pay from work. Can a seller just increase the price like this? I have tried to contact him and let him know that I am prepared to pay the original price but I have no intentions of paying $5 shipping insurance on a $5 item.

No he cannot just change the shipping charges. When you put payment through paypal you should be able to adjust the price back to the original. In the comment section just note that the auction stated 10 shipping so you adjusted accordingly. Check his feedback to make sure not neg. I just hope that by outwardly declining insurance that he won't not ship the item and claim it got lost :headache:

I cant find anyone selling crabs here. Im use to the blue crabs and I sure miss 'em.

And Lara, FYI, crabs themselves should be cheaper this year.

Crab meat should be more expensive.

It's because the crab houses got denied their workers, so all those picking crabs won't have a place to go, which means there will be more out there, with stores trying to get rid of them.

But the meat prices will be higher for the same reason. There will be a lot fewer crab factories open this year, so the meat will be at a premium.

Am I still bound to this auction since he has changed the terms? I am also getting a bad feeling about this one, the only reason that I questioned the shipping is because past auctions that I have won the actual shipping costs have been much lower than what I paid.

Sounds like they're trying to get a few extra bucks out of you, 2C's.

If you have already tried to contact him then I would wait for his response. In the past if the seller tried to change the terms I was able to either pay the origianl terms or back out entirely. Keep all documentation/emails so that you can file with ebay if he tries to be a pest.

No, a seller can't add any charges that are not listed in the original auction listing.

Shipping insurance is usually optional. Your choice if you want to spend the money or not. $5 is ridiculous. It costs $1.65 to insure an item up to $50 in value. The $10 in shipping is probably inflated, but if they stated that flat rate in the listing then you are stuck with it.

I wouldn't pay until you can get a response from the seller. If you can't get a response from the seller, you can cancel the transaction. Unable to contact seller or No response from seller is a valid reason to cancel and on the menu list if you choose to go that route.

Good luck!

All this crab talk and I cant find a dang crab anywhere. Nobody sells them.

Just north of Tampa...you would think living on the gulf coast it wouldnt be to difficult.

You're right!! Florida should have crabs now. I don't deal with anyone from Florida, but I know the other Gulf states have crabs, so I don't see why it would be hard to find them in Florida.

Unless they're shipping them all up here to Maryland. Which is possible, because I know some places that are charging 3.65 a pound for crabs, which is way too expensive (turns out to be 146 bucks for a bushel) and then add the freight that we have to pay (another 23 bucks), and you're looking at it costing us 170 a bushel, and that's before we put our mark up on it and sell it to stores/restaurants/whatever.

Sounds like a stage name.

Next up, Rub It In Robin!

Of course, with a name like that, the stage would probably have a pole on it.

I'm having fun, thinking about us Losers pole dancing. I'd pay money to see it, but yall have to promise to keep your clothes on!!

Howdy, all,

Not much time to post today. I have a huge thing at work today and I am freaking out just a little bit. I cannot wait until this day is over - 3 hours and 22 minutes to go.
