Aside - hi, everyone...no idea if I'm a loser but Danae pointed me here and I read a previous post and I had an AHA moment and I had to post.

Paraphrasing my favorite Peaches and Herb song..."Reincarnated and it feels so good!"

OK LOSERS, I need some advice... and I know you guys won't go all Miss Manners on me.

So, I'm having a baby (big shock, I know). DH and I live 6.5 to 7 hours away from family and lifelong friends. We don't go visit too often, but usually 3 times a year or so.

At Christmas when we were back we told everyone about the baby. My aunt and cousin said to let them know when we were coming back so they could throw me a shower. We knew then that we would be back in April for DH's cousin's wedding.

I hinted to my best friend from high school that it would be nice if someone was going to throw us a shower that the day after the wedding would be good, because I didn't know if at 7 or 8 months pregnant I would want to make that long of a drive to come back again. She said she would talk to DH's sister about throwing one.

A month or so ago I talked to my friend and she said she had spoken with SIL and they were going to throw me a shower that weekend. SIL said the same in an email several weeks ago.

SOO, I had DH go with me to do registeries at Target and Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago so when they called and wanted to discuss guest list I would have it ready.

The wedding is three weeks from Saturday. I haven't heard from either of them. I HATE this kind of thing. It's fine if they aren't/don't want to throw me a shower. I'm a big girl, we can afford to buy all the baby stuff ourselves. I'm just frustrated because I know my aunt would have thrown one that weekend if I'd let her know in advance when for sure we're coming.

Anyway, I also am thinking if we don't have anything planned that Sunday that I'd like to call my aunt and see if we can get together with my side of the family that day before we leave to come back on Monday.

I also know my friend was out of town for work for the last week and I don't want to pressure her by calling and asking what the deal is. But, even for them to get a guest list together and mail them out at this point it would be giving less than 3 weeks notice to the guests.

OH, I forgot to add in the fact that I would hope they had reserved the community room at the bank (it's free) because these two live 40 minutes North of everyone on my side of the family, both out in the country on roads my side wouldn't know existed, and the bank is in a town right in the middle of everyone that they could find easily.

Thanks for listening to the pregnant lady vent. I'm just tired of wondering about it.

I cant keep up with this thread, I sure dont have the time to read 20 something pages then keep up.

So I will rely on blurbs from the pie lady.
Um, yeah...being caught up? So NOT a loser requirement...we're not really talking about anything real anyway...jump in at any point.

Do you have:
a. at least one basket of laundry that is clean but not put away in your house (not folded is bonus points)
b. food in a bag on the floor of your kitchen that you haven't gotten around to putting in the pantry yet
c. Christmas lights still hung anywhere
d. An "oh crap, unexpected company" hiding place for stuff that you don't have time to put away

If you answered yes to any of these...you're a loser.

Malibu -- tough situation.

I'd feel funny about bugging them.

But I wouldn't be happy about making last minute plans either.

Maybe they want it to be a surprise! Good luck!

Today is not my day. I had a big long reply typed and then instead of hitting post I closed the page. My brain is disconnected today:sick: .

malibu: have DH call SIL and ask. Maybe it is a surprise?:confused3

TFS: At least your pets go in the tub where it's easy to clean. I woke up this morning to DS talling me the dog hacked in the upstairs hallway and the living room. I told him to put a paper towel over each spot and I'd take care of it when I got up. Mind you, this was at 8:45 so I should've long since been up, but this whole being able to breathe out of only 1/2 my nose is not accomodating to a comfortable nights' sleep!

Queenie: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: yay on your post milestone!

And as far as the minister is concerned--nothing surprises me anymore about how people act toward others, especially in an anonymous forum such as this:sad2: It's really quite sad. I have thought of things I'd start threads about, but I just don't want the hassle

So I have planned a great, helathy;) meal tonight. it's fried food night! Once a year or so we drag out the dee fryer and fry all kinds of junk. I have been dying for some fried mozz. cheesesticks and mushrooms! Yum. Do you ever do this or are we just different?

OK...I have to go and be a Winner tonight (don't hate me) I have scouts....

See everyone late tonight.

I've never had fried pickles. How do you do 'em?

No green tomatoes at this time of year. I used to give all my green ones (in Sept--right before frost) to my neighbor who was from AL. Never did those myself but I remember having them down in GA.

I like my fried pickles with cream cheese in them. YUM!

Cut the dill pickle into "coins," bread and deep fry. With the cream cheese, I have seen it smeared on the coin before breading, but I prefer "coring" the pickle and filling it with cream cheese before slicing. Then bread and deep fry. Yum!

dill pickle slices, coated in seasoned cornmeal, deep fried until golden brown. Great with ranch dressing.

The hisser's the pisser :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I have a basket that has quite a variety! It has clean clothes(folded and unfolded), items to be dry cleaned, known dirty clothes, and a few items i suspect the husband put in there....Its like a grab bag!

So DH came home. I made him check the pantry for Hisser the Pisser.

He thought I'd lost my mind, but he looked anyway. Didn't see anything, so now he's convinced I need some type of medication.

Ya know...if I even suspected there was a snake in my house...I would be at the nearest hotel.

Though at my parents house they once found a RATTLESNAKE in MY bathtub. They think it slithered up the willow tree on the side of the house to the roof and got in through a vent. So it is possible that the hisser is the one that did the deed in your bathtub.

You're not alone, someone else posted a little while ago that they did the exact same thing. After they were done frying dinner, they were looking around the house to see what else they could fry, and I think they came up with fried bananas!

My favorite is just plain old french fries..I could eat a whole bag of them..

Shore, What a day. :drinking1

Southern - MMM fried pickles. Good stuff. I've also had fried dill pickle spears. Neve have had a fried green tomato yet tho.

mdrob - good thought on having DH call, but he won't do it. He's very non confrontational.

OOH, more on the fried food topic. I miss getting fried cauliflower. It's sooo good. Then again that much grease just doesn't sit too well with me these days.
