Actually, I have a teenage daughter so I am around teenage boys often enough to know the style / attire the OP is talking about. I also grew up in the 70s. The hair today is much shorter than a lot of the guys I knew back then. The OP thinks s/he is getting old. I am guessing they are not old enough or they would look back that far and realize the kids today are much better groomed than boys were back then.

You know, styles and trends come and go. This too shall pass.
I certainly would never use these fashions to judge these kids. They're just being typical teenagers. My guess, OP, is that when you were growing up the generation above you probably complained about the short cuts or whatever. I grew up in the 70's and will never forget when the girls of the 80's started wearing big hair and dressing like Madonna. They were scandalous! Then they grew up and started complaining about the girls and boys and how they dress today. And so it goes......
