The limit of 5

I did not find it made a difference. The stores get under 24 pins of each. Between five people it is easy to empty the shelves.

These ones sold out fast in my store today: Belle, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey & Donald. We had more people waiting outside this morning, even. Another local store did not get their shipment on time, that aggravated the situation.

So, based on the pins coming out next, I'd really say do not plan to get there past 10:00, any morning at all! And please request that the limit per person be lowered to one or two per pin, at least on the first day.

That's what I was figuring. In some cases, it may make it worse. Then people will think, Gee -- Guess I better get 5 then!
I think considering the low numbers per each going to the stores, the fair limit would be 2.
But I still would like to know what idiot decided to sell such low numbers anyway? How many companies base their sales on a few years ago, knowing that since then the sales and popularity have increased dramatically? And esp when their profit margin is so high on these! Sorry to vent. Just IMHO, for what little it's worth.

Barb, judging from the expressions of many CMs on the first Saturday morning, I bet the stores did not even know what to expect regarding the sale of pins. They had several from the Millennium set sent to the outlets, so I'd guess they were testing the ground.

Now that stores will begin trading, the fever kicked in, and I bet anything soon they'll sell LEs as well. I am sure this shocked many, many managers.

But I am definitely encouraging my local stores to decrease the limit. 5/item did not prevent some pins from selling out in the first 7 minutes!!

I wanted two sets. And knowing each store only had 12 Rocketeers, I thought I would buy one set, and run to the other store and get another set -- if possible. It only takes me 15 minutes between stores.
I was at the second store by 10:20. I took one of each. There was only one Rocketeer left after me.
While I was at the check out, the mgr got a call from the other store. A customer wanted a full set. And was shocked she pulled them and placed them on hold!
So that tells me at 10:25, both stores here no longer had full sets to sell.

By 10:02 you could no longer get a complete set of this week's pins at my local DS. That tells me that the limit of 5 per person is just too darn many. A limit of 2 would be much more reasonable. I hope Disney is listening!!

Well, just found out: One of my local stores sold out completely by noon! The racks are naked. And these pins weren't even as "fabulous" as the first week's.
Don't even want to imagine what it will be like next week. They have to lower the limit!

Perhap the phone call and pins that the manager held back were going to be charged and sent to that person. Holds are not supposed to take place on the first day. I would give them the benefit of the doubt that is what was up.

The strange thing is that at the Disney Store I went to, not one of the CMs was aware of any limit. And for some reason, they weren't shipped any of the Toy Story 2 pins. I had to go to another Disney Store for the Toy Story pin, then I realized that the first Disney Store hadn't put out the Belle pin either. Fortunately, I was finally able to get all of this week's pins, but I can't imagine what it will be like when they release the locket pin for Walt's birthday, that one's going to be very popular.

One happy note -- my DH (who used to laugh at my pin collecting) bought two sets of the B&W pins (# 3, 6, 9). Why? He wants his own set to keep and another set to trade at WDW at the end of the month. I've gotten him hooked, yippee!

Well I have an idea what was behind the phone call and holding the pin set. I think it was because of a screw up that involved me.
I was their first customer and I think the CM's were excited and frazzled that they had a line! ;)
When I opened up my TDS bag, I see they sold me TWO extra TS2 pins. I was charged for them, but didn't ask for them.
I am wondering if due to this, they ran out of sets more quickly and called the other TDS to cover themselves.
Not sure this is what happened -- but just wondering.
The store that held those pins today is the same store that would not hold two for me Thursday night! It was that store that I was told NO pin Holds -- Period!

The phone calls are most likely "guest recovery" situations and they would be made by a CM from one store calling another store and not guests calling up and ordering the pins themselves. In my Mom's district I know they have been given some discretion in this area.

Once again, our local DS here in beautiful St. Pete, FL and the neighboring DS in Clearwater, had NO CLUE about a limit policy. Fortunately, the rude people from week 1, must not have been that impressed with this week's pin offering; as there were most of each style at one store and all at the other. And this was well, after the stores had opened. I was not overly impressed with EVERY pin from the Millennium set and the same holds true for this set as well.
Your pal...Disneyboy

Mist CT DS sold out in 20 or so minutes.

Does anyone know which CT store did not get their shipment?

The DS I go to in Houston has a limit of one of each pin per customer. I would love to be able to buy two of each, but guess I am glad for the limit after hearing all the horror stories!

Laurajean,
The West Farms Mall store did not get their shipment.
