And in the interim Bush continues with his incoherent babbling about the economy, Cheney actually states what we've known all along that he has no interest in what the American people have to say about Iraq war, and Bush enable polluters to keep polluting with his overrule of EPA scientific advisers on the Clean Air Act. :scared1:

Just another typical day in the Bush Administration. :sad2:

Well, it seems the Cons aren't happy enough with the way the Obama Church issue turned into a non-issue, so they've actually dug up some blog nonsense that even Drudge won't touch on Obama's extended family in Kenya. Where are you LuvDuke? We need a good "You Can't Make This Stuff Up"! Good Lord..... are they that desperate? :rotfl:

It was such an incoherent mess, I'm not even sure what stuff they can't make up. :lmao:

I'm watching our friends on the other side of the aisle work themselves into an ever growing frenzy like there's a merging of the Wicked Witch, the Energizer Bunny and an Avodart Ad: They seem to be figuratively saying "I'M MELTING" while they keep going and going and going. They have a "going" problem. :lmao:

They do have several options-discuss all the candidates rationally, support their favored candidate positively, or get spun up like a top and spew venom about the candidate they really, really don't like.
I listen particularly carefully to the extremely agitated ones on the chance that they will stop for a second and share their thoughts about why their favored candidate really floats their boat. (Heck, I'd even go for a little compare/contrast.)
I'm still waiting to hear even a modest amount of intelligent civil political discourse from these angry posters.:rolleyes1

You almost always make me laugh LuvDuke, I Don't know how you can stomach watching however!

From what I've seen you will get NONE of that my friend

Watching them is a guilty pleasure which is why I'm racking up the Purgatory time.

Have you taken notice that the thread from our friends on the other side of the aisle in which they claim to proclaim their nominee has almost nothing about their nominee? However, you will find some "NoBama" stuff. Go figure.

I see it here and there, but I don't go to the most notorious thread :lmao: People who would never vote for him in the first place NoBama, Please.... get your own logo :rotfl:

Take special notice that the same ones gnashing their teeth over Obama's racist church that he's attended for 20 years, won't even question the Southern Baptist's racist past.

Btw, it isn't so past. They just apologized for supporting slavery, which was a foundation stone for the Southern Baptists, in 1995. Yup, 1995.

Wowie zowie, wasn't that enlightend of them.

After reading the last page or so, allow me to state out loud something I've been thinking;

In political terms, there's still years to go between now and November. In other words, personally I take nothing for granted in terms of what will happen and which party captures the White House and what happens to the razor-thin Democratic majority in Congress.

Assuming a best-case scenario for the Democrats, I've come to the conclusion that one of the most important pieces of legislation to put through is the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. Targeted by Republicans since the Reagan administration, the Fairness Doctrine is what has really allowed the unchecked explosion of misinformation and bully pulpitism that has allowed to dominate the public airwaves.

I'm not saying get rid of Rush or Hannity or their ilk. Far from it. As an example, what the reinstatement would do is simply require any station airing three hours of Rush to also air three hours of programming from the other side. It would also force Fox News and Air America to both alter their programming schedules to move more towards the center.

Before it was dismantled, the Fairness Doctrine worked. Both sides were heard, and rhetoric was much more civil. Time to bring that back, and enforce responsibility for those who control what is heard on the public airwaves.

Who will decide what is fair?

Make no mistake, the proponents of reinstating the FD are specifically targeting (right wing) talk radio. However, with the internet and other numerous media outlets for people to choose from, which weren't available when the FD was first implemented or even just 20 years ago, there's no need to impose it ever again.

(sorry (again) for the intrusion but this is a hot topic for me)

Perhaps this would be a good thread on it's own. But I suspect many people don't even know what the FD is/was.

I'm with John on this one--I'd have to have a much clearer understanding of how this was to be administered before I signed on.

It's descended into near-porn. Whatever you can do to distract from your candidate, I guess... :)

There's a banner ad for John McCain at the top of this thread. Now that's funny.

Not that I've noticed. Maybe it's a right-wing (oops, VAST) conspiracy!!!

:rotfl2:

John, all kidding aside here. But after seeing your 'Hillary in the White House while Bill...' thread this morning and your other busy posting on the Dis I have to ask:

Do you work?

I believe in the Fairness Doctrine. For those who are interested, they can find how out it worked in the past instead of getting their back up afraid their favorite rightie radio gas bag will be removed from the air. Do some research and then decide. What a fresh idea.

But, I think before we take a look at reinstituting the Fairness Doctrine we ought to take a look at the actual result of the Telecommunications Act and how it has impacted the flow of information. We need to roll back the rules as to who can own how much in any given market. That's where all of this starts. Too much media is being concentrated in the hands of a few to the detriment of us all.

Roll the ownership rules back and the Fairness Doctrine will take care of itself.

Actually, I find the banner inspirational. There are true heroes in this country. There are those who put duty and honor ahead of their own personal gain. When it was McCain's turn to be heroic, he was just that.

The banner is a reminder that when some like McCain and Kerry were getting shot at in Vietnam, others like your president were getting bombed in Texas.
