The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

AND since it's unlikely that any opinions are going to be changed on this topic, perhaps we can agree to disagree.

Actually, that is a point that is going to be pushed by the McCain crowd as well. It's obvious that he has the "experience" edge since he's been in Washington so long. If we're going to win this general election, it's something that we're going to have to get used to seeing. I don't have a problem at all with pointing it out to people that haven't found it, for whatever reason.

Really...If a fellow Democrat wants to know something, I don't have a problem answering the question. It can only help us in the long run.

Have you seen his wife? At the risk of sounding sexist, I don't think that's a problem for him (thank you, little blue pill ;) )

I guess it depends on how you define "substance", then. Personally, I think that this page of his site ( http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ ) does a lot more than spit rhetoric at the twenty different topics it covers. Every topic is linked to another page where he outlines his plans, and even asks for others to submit their ideas.

If that doesn't qualify as "substance", then I would submit you have a standard so high that not a single candidate in this history of this country, much less this election, would reach it.

Last comment- I promise.

I just went on his site again (I haven't been on there since the NJ primaries as that when I voted). It has much more detail on it now then I remember it having a few weeks ago.

Maybe I am wrong on this - but it looks like he heard that people wanted more detail from him and updated his site recently to reflect that. I am pretty sure when I went on to read his healthcare plans before Super Tuesday there was not a link to discuss the ideas with others or present your own ideas.

And if that was there, it wasn't as prominent as this looks completely new to me.

I am looking forward to reading through this additional information.

Just because she has them doesn't mean her husband gets to see them.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Ok, that is seriously the hardest I've laughed at anything on the internets in a while. If I'd been drinking something, I'd have done an honest-to-god spit take.

:lmao:

Barack was in Dallas today for a rally and I saw something I never thought I'd see in Texas. Thousands of people who knew they couldn't get in to the rally stuck around anyway, just for the chance they might get to see Barack Obama. People are hungry for change and it is evident in the crowds. Seriously, that is very big news in Dallas, the future home of W.

On to happier things-Amanda, I love your Pixie Dust Blog! So much fun to read.
:goodvibes

Aw! Thank you  It's fun to write to be honest. I'm going to be updating it soon with some resturant reviews, I've just been so busy that I haven't had time.

Interesting commentary on TV a moment ago. It was noticed that McCain could have offered his plans and ideas to address the real problems of the country during his address last night, but instead he decided to just attack Obama. The ulitmate irony is that he decided to forego substance to whine about Obama being short on substance.

Attention All Hypocrites: please pick up your McCain for President buttons in the lobby.

:sad2:

Not to mention that whole "Bomb Pakistan" nonsense -- he never said it, and I had hoped that McCain would be a little more honest in his rhetoric. I guess kissing the well...you all know where his nose is...of the right wing is more important than personal integrity. Too bad about that.

And there's the story. You see the crowds that both Clinton and Obama are drawing today, and then you watch McCain's address--well, let's just say, I don't think they run out of cheese and crackers at the McCain events.

:thumbsup2 See...we can get along after all. ;) Glad I could help!

I think that part of his site has been there for a while, but I can't swear that it was there as far back as the Jersey primary. I know it was there on Super Tuesday, as I linked to it a few times in the day or two leading up to that, but no matter. The criticism you spoke of did lead to him putting more "meat" into his speeches, which, in the end, I think is a good thing. It makes him a much harder target on that subject, and you know the Republicans will be swinging for the fences. :teeth: That's one of the reasons why I'm against the "national primary" idea. I think the process does help to "vet" the candidates, and you usually - though not always - come out with a stronger candidate for it.

Michelle Obama is in town today and is having a rally. I'm bummed because I've got a test tonight and can't go :sad1:

Yes and if he brings up about Michelle saying the American bit all Obama has to do is start singing...Bomb Bomb Bomb.. bomb Bomb Iran.

I just dont get how people could want to stay in this war till what is thought of as Winning for another 1oo years :confused3

When I think of the lives that would be lost and the MONEY it astounds me. I am not against war (as much as I hate it) but when it has shown that it can not be won I say get out.

Ohhh...The HuffPost blog had a good article about that a couple days ago. What Barack actually said was that if there were terrorists there, we knew where and knew it for a fact, and Pakistan wouldn't do anything about it, we would. For that he was attacked as "naive" by quite a few people, including the white house.

Well, guess what? The latest "big" terrorist that was killed a couple/few days back? Guess how we got him? :teeth: Yep...the CIA went into Pakistan - without government permission - and got one of the bad guys. :lmao: Yeah...BAD Barack for suggesting a successful strategy. ;)

Looks like McCain has decided that the easiest way to White House is to scrap the "Straight Talk Express" and sell his principles down the river. No wonder why he is stuck talking to small rooms.

Oh, that was clear way back when he started snuggling with Bush after the way Shrub and Rove swift boated him in the South Carolina primaries in 2000. And in case there was any doubt, he voted last week against a law banning waterboarding, despite having talked about how awful a practice it was for the last couple years.

I forget which one, but one of the NY Times Editorialists mentioned McCain's small rooms the other day. :teeth: They cut from him talking in front of "what looked like an exclusive golf club, from all the old white men standing behind him" to Barack in front of 17,000. :teeth: Talk about a contrast.

I'm telling you...the McCain / Obama debates will remind everyone of the Nixon / Kennedy debacle. If I was a Republican strategist, I'd be pulling my hair out trying to find a way out of having more than one or two debates, and try to get them run on some obscure cable channel so that as few people will watch as possible. :teeth:

I went to the McCain website today to see if I figure out his plans for the economy--after reading the offering the only thing that jumps to mind is, "he has the nerve to say Obama lacks substance."
While I was there, I looked at his Iraq propoganda. For a guy who has been around for a while, there just doesn't seem to be any connection with reality.

McCain's Website said:
Create the security necessary for political progress and stability
John McCain believes that only by controlling the violence in Iraq can we pave the way for a political settlement. But once the Iraqi government wields greater authority, it will be incumbent upon Iraqi leaders to take significant steps on their own.

Ok, so we've "surged" when can we expect these significant steps. Now granted, if we're staying another 100 years, they have some time...

McCain's Website said:
These include a commitment to go after the militias,

Really? Now that's rich. We've been arming the militias to fight the "terrorists." Now the thinking people out there will quickly figure out that strong militias weaken the impact of the central government and cut the knees off of the security forces we've been training. Typical of the Republicans, there will be no clouding the issue with facts...

McCain's Website said:
a reconciliation process for insurgents and Baathists, more equitable distribution of government resources, provincial elections that will bring Sunnis into the government, and a large increase in employment-generating economic projects.

What is that? A Christmas Wish List? And he thinks Obama is running on Hope?

If that's as deep as the McCain plan goes, then it's just more of the Bush nonsense and double talk.

Doesn't he have one of those, "If I'm not enjoying any sex, I'm not going to let anybody" sort of looks?
How can he NOT enjoy sex when he has a hottie wife like this:

Yeah ... I'm jealous. I wish I looked like that. *sigh*
