The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

There are some posters that only care about "me" and if their life is good, well then there's something wrong with everyone else? They must be doing something wrong if they struggling? The problem with some of the posters is they live in a very small world, detached from what the real world is like. They don't have a clue.

The economy has me very worried. I know that personally we've seen our income decrease by 30% over the past three years, due to lay-offs, and there being less jobs in a particulary field and more people going after those few jobs.

They're just ignoring the signs.

I'm on the job market this year and the latest trend...hiring freezes. Luckily, most of the positions I'm up for will pass through, but next years' applicants are going to be hosed.

The recession is here.

They've already claimed that there WILL be an economic disaster if a Democrat gets elected.

Yeah, just like those horribly depressed economic times we had with Bill C.

Darn that lousy surplus and all those new jobs created. :lmao:

Yes, when Hillary or Obama is elected and the economy is good, we'll be reminded that the President has nothing to do with it.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey, how old are you, just curious? With all this talk on age, I'm wondering about you!

Answering late - busy busy day at work - but I know Bob the Builder from babysitting my nephews. I just turned 46 <gasp> 4 more years til AARP.

My first vote too was for Anderson! He came to speak at our college - and I was INSPIRED, I tell you!!! :rotfl2: Which is saying alot - because compared to Obama - he was like John McCain.

All I knew was he was pro-choice and not Jimmy Carter.

After Reagan came in and cut my financial aid and student loans - I joined the Democrats and never looked back.

I know some say they switch parties as they get older - but I could never envision voting Republican or leaving the Democratic party!

Bob the Builder
(Can we fix it?)
Bob the Builder
(Yes we can)!!!
:cool1:

I've seen the same McCain ad twice here in the DC metro area - I think his entire platform will be the war and terrorism. Might as well scare people into voting for him.

Well someone needs to take up the slack since Rudy "9/11" Guiliani is out of the race. BTW do you know what a hereo Rudy was during 9/11?;)

Hmmm....I'll have to think about that, but my initial reaction is "Edwards simply doesn't carry the same weight as Al." (again...no pun intended ;) ) Yes, it might sway some to Hillary's side, but I think a lot of Edwards supporters - of which I am one, though I was already leaning towards Barack before Edwards got out of the race - will find the optimistic message that Barack has to be more appealing than Hillary's pragmatism.

But, like I said...that's just a hunch on my part. Would be interesting to see how that played out (though I hope JE comes over to Barack's camp as well, obviously).

Not for anything - but how great was Al's endorsement of Dean?
question...do you agree with this statement.....

Who says Pres/VP candidates have to like each other? It's all about what they can bring to the table.

I dont and just wondering if it is me......I seem to think you get a lot more done working with someone you like.....
Please answer my question above pleeeeeze

OK - I will!! I think the answer is No - you don't have to like each other...... supposedly JFK and LBJ didn't like each other - but LBJ was picked to get the Southern vote......

Personally - I think it would work better if the two got along and were best buds. I believe Clinton & Gore started out that way.......

Just watching Keith now, and saw Mitt's speech. What a piece of hoohey. (I don't think I can use another word here). Though I did like the caption, "Mitt out of Luck."

Goodnight everyone...sleep well and see ya all in the morning or afternoon depending on where you live.

Night

Check this pic of Mccain in front of the Conservative convention...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Does he seem a bit uncomfortable (to say the least) to you? that smile couldnt be any more fake.:rotfl2:

In the olden days...the VP was always the runner up...even if they were a different party!:scared1: I forget when they changed all that.

It's the only thing they've got-fear. It's also worked pretty darn well for them in recent history. I'm just hoping that the majority of Americans are savvy enough not to fall for this again.

Holy smokes! A guy can't take 5 days to go up to Michigan for a funeral without missing all the actiopn around here, including a new Lib thread! Other than checking out the Obama/Clinton horse race on our side after Super Tuesday, I haven't had a chance to catch really any news over the last week. Seems I've got quite a bit of studying to do before I feel even partially back in the loop!

They have the "fear" tactic - but they also have a war hero with zillion of years of experience - who is able to cross party lines to get things done. I am not willing to write him off as impossible to win yet.....

I've been thinking this for a while - but can you imagine the ads of Obama is the nominee - they will emphasis his inexperience in ad after ad after ad. Remember what they've done to our past nominees - Dukakis, Mondale, Gore and Kerry ....

That may be able to swing over people - especially should a terrorist event occur - or something pop up that's national security related.......

I think a united Clinton\Obama ticket is the only way to go for this election. They really compliment each other and balance the positive and the negatives of each. Just my two cents.......... The past is littered with failed predictions of the future!! ;)

Of course they will. The spin machine is already working if my Republican mother from Chicago is any indication. I usually don't talk politics with her because she is strident and rapid and is usually looking for a fight and then gets her feelings hurt when she gets one. When her TV is not tuned to Dr. Phil and Oprah, she watches Fox News. Yes, I still love her :). My sister said that my mom was going to support Hillary and I was pretty surprised considering she HATED Bill. I brought it up with her and that was a HUGE mistake. First all the Clinton hating crap and THEN she started on Obama. "Only 2 years in the State Senate and 2 years in the House" ... I pointed out that he was in the Illinois State Senate for EIGHT years, but she just kept on going ... onto how "All the blacks voted for him!". I pointed out that I was not black and that I was going to vote for him.

YIKES! It's going to be a LONG election. If we get my Clinton/Obama Dream Team she will have an apoplectic fit.

That "point" is being repeated over and over again by a poster on the Obama "Cult" thread.

After Jefferson was the worst, most back stabbing VP anyone could have the misfortune to have. ;)

The Obama supporters are out in full force here (our primary is this Tuesday). They were standing on street corners with signs and chanting, waving at the cars while I drove DD9 to school. She wanted to open the window and tell them if she was old enough, she'd be voting for McCain :lmao: and here I am in my mini-van studded with Dem stickers. :rotfl: I am raising a little Republican (but she hates Bush though so it's alright)
