The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

The "break his back threat" was not made by Hillary or even anyone from her campaign. It was made by a Dem "official" who didn't even have the guts to go on record with his name. For all we know it's the weekend janitor.

It's absolutely hilarious to me that you are so indignant about this comment. But you didn't even take the time to read it carefully. This article is someone's opinion - someone not affiliated with Hillary's campaign But hey, don't let that stop you from blaming it on Hillary.
Thanks for pointing that out but I suspect that this is falling on deaf ears. The truth doesn't fit the agenda for some.

Buzz up!on Yahoo!Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) hints at some behind-the-scenes activity to bring the Democratic nomination race to a close:

Q: Do you still think the Democratic race can be resolved before the convention?

Reid: Easy.

Q: How is that?

Reid: It will be done.

Q: It just will?

Reid: Yep.

Q: Magically?

Reid: No, it will be done. I had a conversation with Governor Dean (Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean) today. Things are being done.

Me likey! :thumbsup2

As far as the Clinton campaign calling Obama "liberal", of course Hillary fashions herself as a Conservative. People like Michael Moore and even more recently, Alan Greenspan, have famously called her husband the "greatest Republican president we've had in a long time" because of the Clintons' stances on free trade, globalization, welfare reform, etc....

The "truth"? You mean, like the truth about what happened in Bosnia? You mean like the truth of her "wee bit silly" comments about how she helped bring peace to northern Ireland? You mean like the truth of how she just slammed Obama in Richard Mellon-Scaffe's newspaper - a rag so conservative it makes the Washington Times look neutral - over the Wright controversy? You mean the truth of how she compared her DEMOCRATIC opponent negatively to John McCain, the REPUBLICAN nominee?

Is that the kind of "truth" you were talking about?

Hillary has become exactly what the neo-con crowd always said she was: a power-hungry ***** that will do anything she can to win, regardless of what it does to the rest of the party.

Feel better? ;)

Seriously, I was only talking about the truth about the back-breaking thing and not the rest. But please don't jump all over me, I've had enough of that today.

I gotta admit, those "tall tales" have got me scratching my head. I can't imangine it was intentional, because she and her campaign would have to know there were too many witnesses and film footage to dispute her story. On the other hand, I can't see how it's an inocent mistake, either, it's just too big of an "error". I don't know what the hell she was thinking! I support Obama, but was okay with Hillary if she got the nod. Now I'm not so sure. I mean, I'd still vote for her over McCain, but I don't think I'll be happy about it if it comes to that.

I'm a Hillary supporter and I'm waiting for her to speak on the sniper subject. It confuses me too to be honest.

Watching David Brooks (yes, that David Brooks) on the Today Show this morning, he said some polls show that 5% of voters from both camps will vote McCain in the general because of how ugly it's getting. The time is now to stop this nonsense! Aren't the Superdelegates there to protect us from this?

You have issue with things Hillary has said or done? Have at it.

But the point was Hillary was blasted and villified over something she had nothing to do with. That was my point. One which your rant neatly managed to sidestep. Kudos to you! You're going to make a brilliant politician. And hey you even managed to call Hillary a nasty name on Obama's behalf - you're really taking his playbook to heart huh?

BTW if you think big bad Hillary is being mean to your whittle candidate? You're going to be in for a huge surprise when the Repubs go after him. Or are you expecting McCain to drop out of the race so Obama can win? :rotfl:

There is a lot of talk on the Clinton side that the supers have step in at some point, look at the electoral college and choose Clinton, even though she's down in pop vote, states won, and delegates. What if the supers all decided to throw their votes behind Obama tomorrow because, as I have heard many Clinton supporters state, they are free to make their own decisions. Would the Clinton supporters here consider that "fair", respect the decision of the party elders and get behind Obama in the general?

Yeah, for every "McCarthy" (uttered by a war hero and a personal hero of mine, General McPeak), there are plenty of "Affirmative Action Candidates" and "But...but...look a scary black preacher" from Hillary's camp, so I think his "playbook" is a heckuva lot cleaner than hers.

As for the last comment...frankly, I expect Republicans to act repugnantly. They've been doing it for the past two presidents entire terms. I don't expect Democrats to act like Republicans...but Hillary is doing a great job of it at the moment. I'm sure Kkkarl Rove would be proud! :thumbsup2

Admittedly I wouldn't be happy about it or agree that it was the right thing to do. But, I do believe strongly that the SDs have the right to vote whichever way they believe is right for the party.

Of course I do reserve the right to say "I told you so" if they pick Obama and he loses the general election - specifically if he loses by a wide margin which is what I suspect will happen.

It's amusing to me how many folks seem to think this is some sort of neck and neck race. It isn't. I think Gore's intelligent enough to understand that. He'd have to be crazy to hop in as the nominee, and ask the leading candidate (Obama) to please sit in the back seat....

I bet Hillary is so proud today. After she took a dive into the mud of the controversy over Obama's pastor, it turns out he's had to cancel some appearances because he's getting death threats, his family is getting death threats, and the churches he's supposed to be visiting are getting threats.

But, poor Hillary, she just had to "honestly" answer the question about Obama's pastor when asked by a reporter. How could she possibly not? Did anyone else take notice of the giant pink pig that flew out Hillary's butt as she walked away.

Of course, Wright would never have been her pastor. Of course, she had to answer a question in an interview that appears in a newspaper that had accused her and Bill of covering up Vince Foster's "murder". How could the poor girl do anything else?

Hillary is everything the Republican rightwing has been saying she is. The former Bush supporters lament the fact that Bush pulled the wool over their eyes. I feel your pain.

Hillary needs a very public rebuke from a high-ranking SD and swift kick in her butt. The only saving grace about Hillary is, if she should get into the WH, she'll be the same ruthless ***** towards the Republicans. Let the games begin.

As far as I'm concerned, the magic number is 1627. That's the number of pledged delegates it will take to have more than half at the end of all primaries.

Current standings:

Obama 1414
Clinton 1247

Puhleeze! What makes you think Hillary could? Look how she's divided her own party. What makes you think she can bridge that divide?

Right now, there are Republicans who are looking at Hillary's behavior and saying to Democrats "I told you so". And they were right all along about her.

It's amusing to me how many folks seem to think this is some sort of neck and neck race.

It's not amusing. It's hilarious. Any other candidate would've been laughed off the stage, but not Hillary. She gets lousy press? Hell, she ought to kiss the press's feet that they even talk about her as if she's a viable candidate.

I hardly think that's because of Hillary.

But I do agree with you that she is not more likely to beat McCain.

I welcome giving you that opportunity...

They seem to be catching on as of late though, don't you think?

No, but Hillary's comments should be filed under the heading of "Don't add fuel to the fire".

Just once, I'd like to see her and her husband take the high road. Just once I'd like to see them pass up an opportunity to prove the Republican right had them pegged all along.
