The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

There is nothing to discuss. This incident speaks for itself.

Have a nice day. Goodbye.

Which incident?

Foster's death?

or the Racist & disgustingly unpatriotic comments made by BO's "spiritual advisor" for the past 20 years?

If the question is should the SDs step in NOW & support either HC or BO in an attempt to end the nomination process, I wouldn't agree with it. I want to see how the final states vote & i want the vetting process of both candidates to continue for two more months.

- This primary season has been a tea party compared to others in times past.
- Vetting is paramount in a you tube, internet based electorate.
- If the final decision is made in June....it leaves 5 months to prepare for the Repubs.
- As long as the Convention isn't a circus, all this sniping that everyone is getting all emotional over will be forgotten.
- This primary season has been a tea party compared to what the general election will be.

See, my problem is that we have hashed and rehashed all the issues. What more do we have to talk about, except for petty back and forth personal stuff that can only injure our party's chances come November? Many Clinton supporters, when faced with the fact that as of today, Barack leads in the overwhelming majority of ways that could be used to pick our candidate, say, let's leave it up to the supers, they can vote however they please. I say fair enough. The supers can do as they please, even if that means to end this contest tomorrow, for the good of the party, throw all of their support behind Obama. Would the Clinton base come out and support Barack in the general or would they consider it unfair? I get the feeling from many Clinton supporters that when talking about the supers, there is an automatic assumption that they will vote for Hillary, but what if that's not the case?

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I know it's the perspective of many that the primary season should end to stop the sniping etc. I don't share that view. I know that many here infer (& polls suggest that 20-30% of HC or BO supporters) will take their balls & go home because of the perceived bad blood.

I disagree. I think that after 5 months of 529 attack ads in the general election.......that 80 - 90% of BO or HC "bolters" will come back into the fold. The enemy of my enemy is indeed my friend.

As far as the Supers deciding now or later....I believe the popular vote of the states that have yet to vote should be a consideration for the Super Ds. Also, I want to see how both of our candidates fare as the... er.......sniper fire ;)....intensifies over the next 4-6 weeks.

I'm curious to see how all this plays out. :)

First of all, Laugh O. Grams excellent post:thumbsup2

I want to make a couple of points and then I will go back to lurkdom.

If some of you supporters of Senator Obama would just acknowledge that he is just like every politician, saying anything to get elected and not Superman, there would probably not be the great divide between supporters of the two.

Secondly, I do lurk on the Senator Obama supporters thread.
The bashing of President Clinton has got me puzzled.
If Senator Obama is to become the Democratic nominee, he is going to need the full support and FUNDRAISING abilities of the former President.
This election is going to cost plenty and Senator Obama will need every dime.

1) Why should we admit it when he's yet to demonstrate it? :confused3 I'm more than cynical about the typical political process. One glance through my posting history on these kinds of topics is enough to show that. But, while he's certainly spent time building up his record to the point that it is a bit inflated, he hasn't come anywhere near to pulling a "sniper fire" kind of whopper out of his hat.

2) He out fundraises Hillary 10-1, and has set fundraising records for two months straight...I think he'll be just fine without her "fundraising capabilities".

Ya know - the bolded part of your statement pisses me off.

I voted for Obama in the primaries because I thought he was the better of the two candidates. I do not believe the man walks on water, I do not believe he is a God among men. I do believe he has tried to run this campaign with integrity and while he has stepped in it with this Reverand Wright Fiasco - it doesn't change my vote.

I have not bashed Hillary, I have not called her supporters any names or questioned their intelligence.

THAT ALL BEING SAID - I DO THINK HILLARY CLINTON HAS RUN A PISS POOR CAMPAIGN AND HAS SHOWN HERSELF TO BE LESS THEN CREDIBLE.

She isn't entitled to be President - she has to earn it like everyone else and Maybe had she treated the primaries like what it is - a vote for the people instead of assuming it was in the bag - then MAYBE she would be up in votes.

Your gal is losing - I get you are disappointed - but quit trying to make it out like it is Obama supporters that are causing her to lose. She has no one to blame but herself. Just like if Obama lost he has no one to blame but himself.

THE BUCK HAS TO STOP SOMEWHERE - QUIT WHINING!

My God.

I mean seriously if we are going to get into this petty kind of bull then why not start talking about the fact that if Hillary can't keep her man happy, then how is she going to keep the country happy? Let's talk about her credibility as a wife. Or the fact that she seems to make things up - Freedom for Ireland anyone?

I think that BO & his operatives do 90% of the whining.

Are you kidding me about the fundraising.
Do you think this money is going to continue to roll in at this pace all the way to the General?
He already is taking money from special interest groups. Something he said he wouldn't do. This really does not bother me because this is what EVERY POLITICIAN does.

I am not whining. I will be the first one to sock it in on Senator Obama come election day.

Yes, I am disappointed on how this campaign is turning out, but I am not one of the hypocrites on both sides who will not vote Democratic because my candidate is not there.

Why does everything have to turn into a flame war? I just don't get it:confused3

Ya know - I've stayed out of this fight for the most part - but I am going to STRONGLY disagree with you on this one. The only Clinton supporter I haven't seen whining is Robin. The rest of "you" are to busy complaining about BO to realize that your own candidate screwed up. Tiem to grow up people - you can't blame everyone else because your candidate had a crappy campaign.

I'd say Amanda's ******** jar is full and running over. :lmao:

Again I've avoided this arguement up until now. And I was not just flaming you but yes your comment pissed me off - which is what started it.

I'm not a hypocrite either - and I will vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination - however she has severely disappointed me. When this race started we had two awesome candidates - now not so much.

Am I alone in being tired of reading this crap? The BO supporters think he walks on water - SAYS WHO?

If anything Barrack Obama has shown to me that he is NOT like every politician out there which is what attracts me to him the most. But that doesn't mean Hillary was denied a chance to prove that she was the best candidate - she just didn't do it.

"Shame on you Barrack Obama!" - Um honey you can't figure out if you were under sniper fire or not? And you seem to think you had something to do with peace in N. Ireland. Ya may want to tone down the disgust.

Many people who i associate with don't believe the Pastor's comments about "GD America" to be "petty bull". Most are Independents, Reagan Democrats, Senior and/or Vets. Many are just "tuning in".

This is a big issue now & will be a bigger issue in Nov. if he wins the nomination.

(re: HC not keeping her hubby happy....whatever.)

(re: HC freeing Ireland & dodging bullets in bosnia....dumb politicalspeak by a politician...similar to BO droning on how he was a peachykeen community organizer & a really swell state senator.......thankfully McCain is just as capable of dumb politicalspeak.)

1) I'm afraid you're going to have to prove that assertion about him taking money from special interest groups.

2) Considering his average donation is just over $100, yes, I think he can keep it up indefinitely...at least through November, which is all that really matters. He's had well over a million different people donate to his campaign...raising money is the least of his worries.

3) I'm no hypocrite for saying I will never vote for Hillary Clinton. She may share some of my beliefs on some issues, but I could never support a candidate that thinks torpedo'ing a fellow Democrat to get the nomination is acceptable behavior. I will never support someone who shows no signs of even knowing what the word "integrity" even means, much less demonstrates it through her campaign. It's not hypocritical to refuse to support someone that will not live up to my standards, regardless of what party they are in. (BTW...since I don't know if you've seen me say it before, I'll say it again...I will simply not vote for president if she is the nominee. McCain won't be getting my vote...nobody will.)

I think that BO & his operatives do 90% of the whining.

I have been a vocal supporter of both candidates from the beginning-and I will still vote for either in the general against John McCain. I've posted on both "supporters" threads and I see a lot of anger on both threads. I do feel that there is more anger on the Hillary thread, but I think that's more about the results than anything else. The Obama supporters would be just as angry if he were behind.

Guess what people-THEY ARE BOTH POLITICIANS!!!! They will both do whatever it takes to win. That's why they're in this. You don't put yourself and your family through this unless you are willing to do whatever it takes to win. Obama has made mistakes and will probably make more-Hillary has made mistakes and will probably make more-HOWEVER, either of them is better than McCain.
