I know most people are sick and tired of talking about it and at this point, probably care less, but our FP selection date is coming up in 2 weeks, with our trip scheduled for Dec. 10. The last word I heard was that it's in management's court. All I know is that it will turn our trip up side down, if they announce its opening prior to us leaving.

Rumor on Touring Plans is October 31. That's all speculation and rumor at this point so we're all just waiting to see what they announce. There is a more fulsome thread on ROL in the Theme Parks board that indicates that they might be in the final testing phase and it is with park management now.

If there is a FP+ available when it's time for you to book, you'll know.

My issue is that my FP date is only a couple weeks away and I really want to do the night time safari. Sunset is around 530, but when would ROL be? If it will cause a conflict, I'll just do daytime safari. :)

My guess and it's only a guess is they would probably do a show around 6 and a second show around 8.

I so hope this is correct. That would work beautifully for me the week before Thanksgiving.
its almost a guarantee they will have more than one showing it's just trying to figure out when they will be. In the winter months they of course will be earlier than the summer months.

The last I heard is they are testing the full show until the end of September. That is they are hoping the show could run for a period of time without having issues. Then I heard that an October release would probably be announced. However, things can always change with Disney especially since they have been so silent about this show. I heard this on my trip last week. I can't quite remember where I heard it though.

For what it's worth, we were really disappointed in the night-time safari in August. The driver tried really hard, but the animals were few and far between. Daytime is much, much better.

I would definitely book the FP for daytime safari. In my experience, the lines are so much shorter toward the end of the operating day. It would be well worth doing the safari twice if you want to see daytime and nighttime.

Even if ROL is ready, it's not enough just to start running the show for the public. They'll want to create a big marketing splash, which probably takes some time and money.

FWIW we did 2 night safaris on our June trip to experiment with different times. The 1st one we did very late (like 9:30) and it sucked big time. The 2nd one we timed right at sunset and it was awesome. We saw lots of animals (and a real sunset) but the best part was the lions! They were out running & playing & chasing each other like real cats! They jumped from rock to rock & ran all over that central island area. It was so cool....

From what I've seen/heard there will be some sort of previews for RoL whether it be CM or AP before it opens.

Yep, I would expect as much.

Agree with previous poster. We did the safari twice last week. Once at 9pm and there were very few animals out and visible. The other one was at about 6:45, closer to dusk and it was amazing. The giraffe put his head in our truck, zebras blocked the road, lionesses were so playful with each other. It was the best one we have done.

I am going dec 2017 and realized there is like 5 things I want to do at AK, then whatever night stuff they have. I just have no idea if the new avatar stuff will be opened by next dec or just rivers of light?
