Yeah, just like Red Baron, Tombstone, DiGiorno, Celeste and Totinos. I checked them all out before deciding on the one that came with the appetizer. I was too tired to sit in a restaurant and too tired to eat anything that would make dishes and a mess.

I'm confused. Did you buy it at a CPK or in a grocery store?

So was the dip deal through CPK or Vons?

It was packaged through CPK, and even had a letter on the back of the box with the blessing of the CPK owners that now you could have a night out, in with their new app & pizza. They were all shrink wrapped into the same package for easy packaging in the box.

I will check that out for sure.

I'm throwing my cards in. Goodnight US lasters. Good Morning Oz Lasters.

I'll be tossing in the cards soon as well. I have to feed the cats, I've already taken out the trash. Not much left before bed since I have to be up relatively early tomorrow.

good evening all. Just got home. Food porn shortly (I hope).

Alison - I'm downloading the 645 pictures on to another USB stick. Just in case.

The countdown is well and truly on for me at work as the project I'm working on is nearly complete.

We (well....I) planned a farewell dinner for the core team members that are still remaining in the wind-down period. The restaurant of choice was The Flower Drum; an institution all by itself in Melbourne...legendary service, superb Cantonese cuisine and an amazing track record for being one of those establishments that has managed to stay at the top of the restaurant tree for well over 30 years now.

Being the main instigator of, what I've dubbed, the Woo Hoo :woohoo: dinner and also being keeper of the purse on the project, we naturally gravitated towards the Chinese equivalent of the degustation menu; complete with wine matching. And the thing about being Chinese? We aren't talking about portion sizes fit for ants here...

I'll let the food do the talking; because all I'd be doing is going WOW! Delicious! for every single thing I ate. It's been close on 24 hours and I'm still in a food coma.

The first entree...er....appertizer for the North Americans. Farmed Jade Tiger Abalone, thinly sliced and wok tossed with spring onions. Served with prawn and shrimp sauces.

Second appertizer. South Australian King George Whiting fried in a crispy batter and served with fresh lemon juice and 5 spice powder.

Third appertizer. Quail Sang Choi Bao - minced quail meat cooked together with chinese sausage, ****ake mushroom, bamboo shoots and spring onions; served in a lettuce leaf cup.

2011September8FlowerDrum019.jpg

First main course or entree. Fresh South Australian Crayfish, wok cooked with house-made chilli XO sauce, served on a bed of egg noodles.

2011September8FlowerDrum024.jpg

Second main course. Peking Duck!! Not just one....

2011September8FlowerDrum026.jpg

...but two serves each!

2011September8FlowerDrum029.jpg

Third main course. Black Angus rib eye beef cooked medium rare, dressed in a black pepper sauce with seasonal vegetables.....

2011September8FlowerDrum030.jpg

....served with Special Fried Rice.

2011September8FlowerDrum032.jpg

I didn't hold much hope for dessert. Afterall, the Chinese aren't exactly famous for desserts....and sure enough....we were offered the choice of Deep Fried Ice Cream or Banana Fritters.
None of us could make a choice; so, we got offered one of each.

Surprisingly adequate!

And to go with coffees and teas, the kitchen brought out huge plates of house made Almond Biscuits.

I'd like to go back to sleep now!

If you do enough research, I am certain that you could obtain a good hotel rate for Sydney.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:
When you do let me know. Now I am picky but you won't likely get anything under $120 a night if it is at all good. Even on 'sale'
So CPK has frozen pizzas in thier stores for you to purchase and bake at home?
Yes I've seen them. Wish we had them here...
^ :lmao:

I don't feel like doing anything but going to bed.
me too!!! :faint:

I'm now on my 2 hour train trip north to the hunter valley. The rest of the family are already up there and will meet me at the station.
It's a long story but my brother is a DVC man but before that joined a local vacation club and got a week in a 2 bed for a bargain. Weekending in areas like this will set you back at LEAST $150 a night for a basic room as Sydneysiders love going to this wine region. make it 4 and it gets pricy. He got luxury for a week for no more than a 2 night price.
I can't stay the whole time but I'll get the weekend. TBH a couple long lie ins at home is what I'd like this weekend but this was booked a long time ago.

So...2 hours and counting....
Of course you have to love the pricing. It's $4.40 one way between home and the CBD which is no more than 30mins...and $7.80 for this trek.....:confused3

I'm last :woohoo:

Sounds like a good weekend at the Hunter. I'm happy to trade places...if you want to drive DS round to his various activities this weekend...and look after him whilst DH is away. :rolleyes1

My turn at last.

Enjoy the food porn. I've just realised that the Dis does NOT like a particular type of mushroom....not exactly like I'm feeding it crap and keeping it in the dark....but I wonder if Chitake works instead? (Probably).

I know its a case of know when hold em'....know when to fold 'em. But seriously?!!! We're way after page 250!! Now's the time to go all in. What sort of lasting and double down do you call this?

Where in Sydney am I likely to get anything for around $120 that's on the "good" side?
I don't think I've done less than $180 a night in Sydney and that's for a 3 - 3.5 star place.

Love the food porn. Thankfully feeling a lot better now. But I'm drugged....so who knows....

That all looks lovely. Truly. :goodvibes:
But I'll trade you the crayfish for the Peking duck :)

(In strong Asian accent) "Do you want banana fritta?"

"No....I just want to hear you say it!!!!" :lmao:
Sob...that's one of DBFs favourite lines....

We went to Billy Kwongs last week (Kylie Kwongs restaurant) and I gotta say while it was good it wasn't great. It's all bio organic blah blah so they jack up the prices. We had the specialty duck in orange sauce as well as rice noodle rolls.
