Hmmm...so it was the acid? I always find these studies interesting. Acetic acid, which is vinegar, has a pH of about 2.5 The pH of the gastric juices is about 1.

I think soda is more acidic that vinegar.

I believe so too, what damages teeth with soda is the acid from the CO2 that is mixed with water. Not a strong acid, but worse than the absorbic acid and the strong phosphoric acid in cola when it is affecting your teeth.
