What? Yes, the DCL cruise we went on was the Panama Canal Cruise with Hurricane Katrina. The boys were getting older, we were cheaper... Same old two boats..

Now its all new! We're coming back. My husband has grown fond of the casinos but I miss that Disney quality that engulfs the ship. We both miss good food...ah!

I will be here gleaning all sorts of information!

Welcome back! Which ship are you considering? Which port? Which time of year? I'm heading on my 3rd cruise this November out of NYC. I'm excited.

ah yes, the "Katrina Cruise" that was NOT impacted by Katrina. But Huricaane Hillary in the Pacific that made us miss Los Cabos / Cabo San Lucas and go to Manzanillo instead.

Welcome Back.

The Magic has been refurbished (many years ago).
  • Added the AquaDunk and the Twist and Spout slides. Both available to Kids and Adults.
  • Shutters: has gone to a "Library book system - so no more hunting for your pictures on those big "bulletin boards"
  • Parrot Cay: changed name to Carioca's - theme Brazilian
  • Adult Entertainment District - the names and decor have changed, but the venues remain the same: Rockin' Bar D is now Fathoms, Sessions is Sessions, Up Beat / Off Beat / Diversions is now O'Gills - an Irish Pub
  • Shows: maybe still the same: "Twice Charmed" and "Disney Dreams, an Enchanted Classic" - both have been updated since '05. I think the third show is "The Golden Mickey's" - I don't remember if it was playing back then or if it was still "Hercules - The Mus-ical"
  • Cruise Pricing - WAY higher than back then, but Panama Canal cruise still one of the best Values per Night on DCL
  • Chocolates on your bed at night - disappeared for a while, but has returned
  • Atrium - The Chihuly sculpture is gone and there's some other abomination in it's place, they removed one of the staircases and moved the Helmsman Mickey statue off to the side instead of centered right in front of Lumiere's MDR.
  • Dinner Dress Code - WAY WAY relaxed - its almost anything goes now.

Sounds like some new fun... I wish the shows were new tho. I understand why not...

Current shows on the Magic - Twice Charmed (yes, it's been updated); Disney's Dreams (still the same, but with some added/different vignettes); and now Tangled.
