The Last Supper (Alfredo's)

Thanks for sharing the story, bittersweet night for many.

I asked about the new restaurant last week and was told it would open briefly for CP packages then stay closed for a complete redesign through 2008/ :confused3

Alfredos was always a twice a trip dinner for us - first and last night. I am going to miss it!!!

We liked the place. I am glad we took the baby before it closed and have some pictures. We actually celebrated our 5th anniverary dinner there. Farwell to an old friend. Great story.

My wife & I ate at Alfredo's for lunch about a week before it closed. I always enjoyed it... in fact, we were in Rome in June and ate lunch at Alfredo's in Rome... now I know I can get the great Fettucini Alfredo whenever I want - it's just a little more traveling.

Was never a fan of Alfredos, but I did enjoy this "last night" review. They closed with a bang rather than a whimper, it seems---

We ate at Alfredo's on Aug. 30. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe it was the free dining plan but I did like the food. My husband is from Italy so I do know some great Italian cooking but I will say the food was not bad. Compared to Chef Mickey and Cape May this trip I would give Alfredo's a big thumbs up!

I enjoyed reading your post of Alfredo's last night. We dined there only once and for lunch. The food was OK and the service poor, but I guess it pays to be a regular. ;) It will be interesting to see how the replacement restaurant fares.

Hi CF!

Thanks soo much for the Last Supper story. We just enjoyed Alfredo's for the first (and last) time on 8/24. I remain totally baffled by all the negative reviews I've seen here, and I'm so glad to know it was one restaurant you thoroughly enjoyed and that you were there through the bitter end. It reminded my of the Titanic going down the way you described.....:guilty: :sad2: .

In all the places we visited over a 10 day stay, the service at Alfredo's was by far the most attentive, efficient and entertaining. The food rated in the top 3 of 10 for our family. I complimented the manager on the way out that night and told him so, and also expressed my sadness about closing.

Thanks again!

My kids always like Alfredo's. I loved going there for lunch to get the Fettucini Alfredo.

Nice report, sounds like it got a good send-off - lots of friends having a good time.

Thanks for sharing, we were a fan. But according to my Food and Bev. friends at Disney it did not get good reviews from the masses.

And personally and this does not pertain to most DISers, it was the Fettucine. Very few knew it was authenic but different from what most are used to and they complained. :confused3

Great story. I'm glad you shared it with us. Sad that they just started ripping it apart with guests still there :(

RIP Alfredos. It was one of the best dining experiences we had last year, and we were sad that we couldn't add it to our ADRs for our 9/22 trip. Good food, excellent service, a friendly wandering mandolin player... What more could a person want?

Thanks so much for posting about the last evening.

We tried to get a dinner ressie, but couldn't- so we were there for a late lunch/early dinner at about 4.30 on August 31.

We'll miss it too..... and are pessimistic about the new restaurant.

We'd been burned there the first time we tried it, and stayed away for a long time- but went back last year to give it another try and were glad that we did.

I guess I'll have to get my fettuccini fixes in NYC next year...... :(

I can see this being a valid reason. Authentic Italian cooking is very different than what most chain restaurants serve.

I never knew if the fettucini was authentic, I just knew I thought it was good.
I always hated to read those comments that Alfredo's was at the level of Chef Boy Ar Dee.:confused3 It's ok if you don't like it, but that doesn't mean someone else might not enjoy it.:earsboy:

Thanks for sharing your story.

I am not surprised at how soon it was being torn apart. That was the same as done to the DS that closed. Doors close and the wrecking crew was on the spot.

Thanks for the great final night wrap-up. We ate there twice about a week or so ago, once for dinner and then lunch on the day before closing. We waited too long to get a last-day ADR.

We are very sorry to see Alfredo's go. They had been there some 25 years. We enjoyed all of our meals there. Two, in particular, stand out -- one with our boys on the day Epcot was closing due to Hurricane Charley. Our waitress, Cinza, was so great with the boys, teaching them Italian words, posing for pictures, etc., even though the staff were in a hurry to feed everyone due to the impending weather. We had great fun, notwithstanding.

Another time, DH and I arrived after the lunch crowd had gone and spent a lazy afternoon eating, speaking with the waiters and busboy, DH practicing his Italian. We consumed a couple of bottles of wine as the afternoon slipped pleasantly away. Wonderful memories.

I agree that many seemed to dislike what appeared to us to be more authentically Italian cuisine than one gets at, say, an Olive Garden. I, for one, loved the Fettucine Alfredo and ordered it every time we went. Fresh pasta and lots of cheese! Yum! It was outstanding and so different from the gloppy white-sauce over boxed pasta served by most "Italian" restaurants. We never missed the tiramisu either.

Unfortunately, Alfredo's often was savaged on these boards, although I can immediately think of many places far more deserving of criticism than Alfredo's.

I hope the torrent of unjustified criticism on these boards is not what caused this, but I can't help but think the negativity on these boards contributed to Alfredo's demise. WDW apparently wasted no time in pushing them out the door!

I, too, am skeptical of what will take Alfredo's place. I suspect it will be more mainstream and far less interesting. Oh well. WDW patrons will get the restaurant they deserve!

Waiters I spoke with told me they will not be working for the new company and expect to be transferred.

Happily, I can go to the Alfredo's here in NYC for my fettucine fix!

Cheshire -- DH and I loved looking at the photos in the lobby -- and particularly coveted the photo with Alfredo and Orson Welles. So glad to hear it went to a good home!
