We are going here in June. Has anyone stayed here. I would love to know about it. First time at DL and we are excited!!:yay: How far is it to the gate and how is the transit. Or do you recommend any other hotel that is nice at a great price. Thanks

Sonya

I would recommend many other hotels over the Jolly Roger, both for proximity and overall cleanliness. What is your price range?

Shooting for walking distance, b/c I'm not a fan of the ART (trolley transit)

1. Howard Johnson is always my #1 pick, especially with the ent. rate or the disboards 15% discount.

2. Anaheim Plaza is close and cheap. Nothing fancy, but clean and spacious. It's usually around $70 a night.

3. Tropicana and Camelot are both directly across the street, get overall good reviews, but might be at the top or just over your budget.

Have you looked at this map? It's great for locating your hotel in proximity to the DLR entrance. www.accommodationsneardisney.com

Ditto the recommending many other hotels befor I'd recommend the Jolly Roger. For $80-$100 a night, there are much nicer places to stay. There's the Anaheim Plaza and HoJo's which were previously mentioned & that I will vouch for them being preferable than the Jolly Roger. The Anaheim Plaza usually runs $60-$80 in the summer; HoJo's has a great deal where you can get rooms starting at $59 a night if you have an Entertainment Book card. Both are IMO nicer than the Jolly Roger, especially HoJo's :thumbsup2

Wow I had NO idea. How do you get the disboard rate. I've never heard of that.

I stayed at the Jolly Roger in May of this year. It looks a little non-fancy on the outside, but the inside has just been remodled and looks great. Its also very clean. We had a great stay there. We drove to the park everyday and parked there so I can't say anything about the walk. It is pretty close thou.

You also get access to the pool, fitness center and gift shops and the Portofino Suites!

The only thing is I would not spend $80/night there. It is pretty much a little bit nicer Motel 6. No extra ammenities in the room. We paid around $60/night and I think thats about as high as I would go.

You can call up in-house reservations (sorry don;t have the # handy right now, but I'm sure someone else here does!) & let them know you're a Disboards member, for the 15% discount. The Entertainment card discount is even better, with rooms being about half what they'd normally be. The only downside to that is that it's not available every day. You can check on availability here: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

Thank you guys. I know I can always count on my disers to find me the answers

I stayed there for the Expo (super close to the convention center) It was very cheap, and it was just fine..inside was nice, outside kinda ratty. We walked to the parks..no big deal, about 20 minutes. There was what looked like a parking entrance across the street, but I don't know if you'd be able to cut through there and we didn't try. I guess there are alot of hotels closer and probably nicer, but for cheap and decent it was fine.

I would definitely go HoJo or Anaheim Plaza over the Jolly Roger......keep your eye on the HoJo Ent Rates, if they aren't available now they might add them.

I removed the 800 number because that will take you to the general reservations connection, where normally they know nothing of the entertainment rate.

For the Entertainment Book:

.entertainment book

You can also just buy the card that you will need from E bay. I have seen them for less than $3.00 per card. I would see about buying the book, you might be able to find it for a good price as well on the same web site. Specials from Entertainments site, are available throughout the year.

It's one of those places that's fine for a place to rest your head. Like most places, you can leave your car in their lot for the whole day on the days you check in and check out (some places don't let you). The check-in desk staff is friendly and helpful (I had no problem getting quarters). I don't know what's up with the lot across the street now, but when I stayed there a year and a half ago, you could take the Lion King tram to the lot and just cut through the lot (saves you some time walking).

I agree with the other posters regarding staying elsewhere that is closer. I also recommend Hojos Ent rate or Fairfield Inn. They were very nice and very clean rooms. I stayed there this past June for around $87 a night. it's about 5minutes closer to the DL entrance than Hojos and a lot closer than Anaheim Plaza, imo. Literally in FFI's parking lot is a McDonald's, Millie's (coffeshop type food place w/vegetarian options), and a Mimi's is right next door. FFI also offers a Pizza Hut express, Seattle's Best, and room service from Millies restaurant.
