The "I've Waited Forever to Go Solo" Mom's Leaving Everyone Behind Trip! Updt 3/11

So I think I left you just before the IASW Incident as I call it. Here is the scenario....

I decide to hop on IASW since there is no wait and I need to get out of the rain and heck, its IASW. So I enter in to the ramp/queue just as a family is and they are in front of me. It is a Dad, Mom and 4 kids if I remember, maybe 5 but I really think 4. As we are walking down the ramp a woman comes through and is trying to pass through the family. Apparently the family cut her off from her child as she was just outside of IASW. So can you visualize, her child, this family, me and this woman now trying to manuever through to her child.

Well I think she said something to the effect of "Excuse me you came between me and my child". It didn't not sound or look to me like she was rude or out of line at all. Just letting these people know she wanted to get by because they had come between her and her party. Well this Dad starts yelling, I mean YELLING, LOUD, and calling her a F-word A-word. She looks absolutely appalled (and I am sure I did too). She says something to the effect of "You need to watch your language there are kids here" and this doesn't seem to bother Mr Manners. He is screaming at her, calling her white trash and telling her to go back to her trailer. :scared1: The F-word is thrown around a few more times, the woman is like "You are crazy, you are a jerk" and Dad just keeps giving it. All the while his four children are right there, and his wife, and other people, like me. But that didn't seem to matter. The woman gets to the end and tells the female CM that this man is crazy and is yelling at her. CM looks like a deer in the headlights. Man yells "I will not be in the same boat as her" and again references her going back to her trailer. Boat with woman and child takes off. Female CM says nothing to this crazy man. Nothing. A older male CM comes to swap places with her. Yours truly gets the pleasure of riding behind this "family" in their boat. As soon as we are all seated they are all laughing and giggling and oldest son, maybe 12 or 13, is high fiving Dad. :sad2:

It made me so mad. His behaviour in of all places Disney World, his disregard for speaking that way to another human being in front of his own kids as well as other people, and his blatent celebration over it with his son. This man was the lowest of the low in my eyes. I didn't really enjoy my ride. I kept hoping that when the boat came to the end security would be waiting. They weren't. I was really disappointed in how the CMs handled this. They did nothing. They heard the woman complain, they heard the man on his tirade. And they did nothing. I really wish they had a zero tolerance policy for this sort of behaviour and they booted him out of the park.

When I left I had hoped to see the woman and just tell her I thought it was incredibly rude how she was treated but she was gone. Who can blame her. But believe it or not I would see Rude Man and his wife with the scary neck tattoo again the next day.

This traumatic experience required something to up the magic pixie dust factor. It required chocolate. So I headed towards Liberty Square and got myself a nice chocolate chip cookie (1.91). There was a woman trying to photograph herself with the Castle in the background by herself so I offered to take it for her. It is nice to help someone out and that definately increases your pixie dust factor for sure. Side note: the view from the Castle on the side right here, by Sleepy Hollow, is one of my most favorite views. :thumbsup2 I tried taking my camera out to get a shot but the batteries were dead.

Now I wandered over towards the Haunted Mansion. It was dark and stormy and that just enhanced my walk up. There was no line, the bright side of going during weather like this. I got right in and enjoyed this ride. It takes me back to my youth and riding it when I was a kid. I even remember a Haunted Mansion board game I once had with pieces that looked like some of the ghosts.

I was still not ready to call it quits so I sloshed over to Mickey's Philharmagic. I just love this show. The sights, the sounds, the smells, it has it all. Except tonight I was freezing! Being very wet and the high AC is not a good combination. I was really wanting a warm blanket right about now. If you travel in August please pack one light sweatshirt or something, you just might need it.

I exited and stood in the gift shop for a bit. It was raining so, so, so hard now that I decided to just stand there for a little while. That is when Incident #2 took place. Yes another over the top, crazy cranky guest. This time he was irate over the movement of his stroller. You see he had put it in a spot that you can't leave a stroller and so it had been moved. As a result, and due to the fact that during this freakin' monsoon he had not bothered to cover it with a poncho or cover or something, it was wet. Well he started laying into this CM, again YELLING, and while he didn't use the F-word, he dropped the A-word a whole bunch of times. Yup. In front of all the guests, children included, waiting in this gift shop for the rain to stop. The poor CM just took it and kept saying "I'm sorry sir, we had to move the strollers". I wish they empowered these CMs more to take action when people are blatently out of line like this. I know the whole customer is always right thing but I think when you start acting so disrespectfully and completely out of line that should go out the window. This man's behaviour was uncalled for. And with the rain blowing in sheets his stroller was going to get wet no matter where it was if he had no cover on it.

As I am watching this take place a completely soaked from head to toe man comes over to me and asks if I work here. Hmmmmm. No. I don't know what he was going to ask if I did. Instead he tells me he just rode Dumbo and its not an indoor ride. Ummmmm, yes I do know that. Crazy man. But he was having fun. There is crazy/happy and there is crazy/lunatic like our other two folks. Crazy/happy man was just being a kid, riding Dumbo poncho-less in a torrential downpour. At least he had a smile on his face!

The rain was not letting up and I was wet already so off I went, towards Tomorrowland. I had a FP for Space in my pocket and needed to use it. Waltzed right in, past the 30 minute or so standby line. At the end I told the CM one and he put me in the back seat and told me it was the best seat. A little solo magic for you. :wizard: I like this ride but don't love it. Like IASW I think you have to go on, it is such a part of the Magic Kingdom. Everest is my favorite coaster at Disney though for sure.

So I meandered to Main Street and looked in the Emporium for a bit. I decided to get to the bus. It was around 9:30 or so and at this point I was not sure if Wishes were happening or not. I did know I wanted to beat the rush if it were. So I walked down to stop 18 for Pop Century. And here we meet Contestant Number 3 for the "I Swore Out Loud at Disney World" award. The line is long. It is late. People are wet. I get it but man some people just can't control themselves. A man with a stroller starts swearing "Don't you F-word tell me to wait" (and again SO LOUD) at the grandmotherly CM who is holding the glowing stick to guide the bus to our stop. Apparently she told him he had to wait, the horror. She looked like she was going to cry, I felt so bad. Everyone in line was smirking/glaring at crazy man. And as people passed the CM once the next bus came numerous people made comments to her that made her smile.

I am convinced that the rain had something to do with people being so over the top angry and impatient. But it is not an excuse. They were rude, they were out of line and they did so in the Happiest Place on Earth in front of children. I have never seen behaviour like this there and I hope I don't again. It really was a drag.

I got back to Pop and stopped in the gift shop. I bought Fat Mickey and Fat Minnie for Belle and Goofy. I'll have to add a photo later. I also picked up a package of antenna balls. I have Sorcerer Mickey on my van right now but this packet has Mickey/Minnie/Donald/Chip/Pluto and one other, maybe Goofy? Anyway this will serve as my "Buy one silly souvenir just because" from my Solo Trip Pledge. I didn't even look at the price until I got back to my room. $25! For antenna balls? Eeek! They are cute though!

Got back to my room after passing creepy man drinking at Petals who smiled as I walked by. :scared: I open my door and my luggage is there! Yeah! Got ready for bed, called for a wake up and hit the hay! Tomorrow was my first full day and I needed to be ready for it!

Allyson:surfweb:

Oh my gosh Allyson, I can't believe the behaviour you witnessed that night, how appalling. :sad2: I feel sorry for the CM's that they have to stand there and take it like that, there really should be a policy where Security gets involved when people act that way.

Ah yes. The F bomb. We encountered this at A.K. a few years ago. Bob and I are waiting in the line (the back and forth back and forth ones..) in front of the ticket booth. A woman sends her teenage son over to get in line and yells, "Just go over the ropes!" which he promptly does and directly in front of us as we're winding our way through.

Bob says, "Uh, line starts back there." The kid gets spooked and runs over to his mom. She yells, "HEY, A******, why don't you **** off?" OK!? Nice. In front of God and my kids.

Some people.

Bob was very calm. Scary calm. I pushed him to the window quickly!!

That's terrible that the CMs couldn't do anything about the guy at IASW. He sounded unbalanced! I noticed ALOT of that attitude around the world while we were there too. :sad2:

And there was that guy that yelled at Kat, Yani, Z, Bob and I while we rode Soarin'.
Sure we were loud. Sure we were having fun. :yay:

Sometimes, things are going to annoy you! You don't let loose with the A bombs and F bombs!

Sheesh!

MEL:banana:

YIKES!:scared1: Maybe scary F-bomb family had been sniffing too much pixie dust and it went to their heads.:confused3

Hope tomorrow is better for you!

Dear Allyson,

My blood pressure just shot up, up, up after hearing about all the rude people you encountered. I am so sorry. I absolutely hate people like that! Sometimes, in my line of work (i'm a therapist), you meet those kinds of people and (per management's orders) you just have to smile and walk away.

Hope you had better luck the following day(s). :goodvibes

Jen :)

Hi! I'm back and caught up!

The rain stunk didn't it? But it's Disney and you just keep on going.

So sorry that you encountered those rude people! I myself have a potty mouth (being from NY and all lol) but I almost never curse in Disney, it's just not right!

Anyways looking fwd to more!

Some people, I tell you. It sure seems like it doesn't take much to get them to their breaking point. And of course some people are such habitual swearers that those words seem to tumble out unbidden - my best friend is like that, poor thing. And one time recently, at a WDW bus stop, I said something, DH looked surprised and said "What did you say?" And I repeated what I thought I had said and he said "no before that" and I honestly didn't remember. After we got on the bus my DH said he thought I had said "What the F-??" Which is emphatically NOT something that trips liltingly from MY tongue. But since I don't remember....gosh, I HOPE I didn't!

The thing that I find most shocking about this is that these guys are letting loose at total strangers. That's a whole bunch of social mores that just flew out the window. Oh, and of course that the CM's don't do anything about it - also unreal. I agree, a call to security or a manager would have been in order at least in the case of the IASW incident. So sorry it infringed upon your ride. And the ride of that woman who had gotten separated from her child and then verbally abused on top of that. :sad2:

There's a couple of things checked off from your Solo Traveler Pledge! I never see people trying to take their own picture, so I'm glad you found someone to help so early in your trip and with one of your favorite views. Dead camera batteries are a bummer, for sure. Looking forward to pictures of "Fat M&M." And your exciting first full day! :3dglasses

another great update i agree with everyone else that security should be able to handle such situations. and the kid high 5-ing his dad.....another one in the making..

hope tomorrow is better.

Wow. You certainly encountered your share of crazies for the day! Yikes!! I kinda feel sorry for people like that. It's not an excuse but they must just be miserable people, miserable all the time to behave like that in the happiest place on earth! :sad2:

And look at you getting checked out as you walk by Petals - even soaking wet and sloshing around, you still got it! ;)

I myself have a potty mouth (being from NY and all lol)

Hi Kat, I'm going to NY next week, I feel like I have been forewarned! :) Just kidding ;) , I have been several times in the past, and never had a bad experience with a "potty-mouthed" New Yorker :)

P.S. Sorry to hijack your thread, Allyson :) Btw, y'all should come to Texus (pronounce as spelled) and hear all the "Gowd-danggit(s)" It sounds harmless at first, but sure is a big ole cuss word!

Hey ALlyson. I am back and all caught up. I can't believe all the rude people you encountered. THe rain stunk but you just kleep plowing through and have ag ood time!:thumbsup2

Wow, I really can't believe some people , and 3 of them in one evening! I know it's not an excuse, but some people are very angry and violent, and you usually don't see it unless you live with them, when they go to WDW they usually keep it under control, unless certain circumstances happen to be bad and they can't control it any longer. My guess would be that the weater was what set it off. All those guys are nasty guys, they act like that on a daily basis, but I guess after they waited so long, and spent so much of their precious money coming to WDW where they probably didn't want to come in the first place for their vacation, just to have that awful weather, they are just ready to explode. So sorry you had to experience that, along with those poor CM's and guests/children. I guess it didn't matter to their children because they will most likely grow up to be just like him, and his wife is used to it, but it is not pleasant listening to that digusting behaviour.

At least you had a good evening anyway, and you didn't let the storm ruin your MK experience.

Can't wait to hear more about your first full day:goodvibes

YOWSA! :scared1:

I can't believe that you encountered so many unhappy, rude people in one in DISNEY!

Can't wait to hear about your first full day!

Wow you got to see some very non magical behavior, and you didn't even take your kids. :rotfl:

That view of the castle over by Sleepy Hollow is my favorite too.

Hey Allyson! :goodvibes Glad you made it back safe & sound! I was worried about you! Sorry you had to witness that awful, awful scene. :sad2: How sad. So many rude people. Maybe the storm brought the worst out in those people? :confused3 I'm looking forward to hearing about all the good stuff - and the wonderful DIS'ers you got to meet. I'm sure that helped restore some Pixie Dust! pixiedust: :thumbsup2

Mean people suck. I'm glad you let it roll off your back as much as possible, but that stuff burns me too.

Sounds like you are wringing as much enjoyment as possible out of the trip so far. Can't wait to hear more. I'm still using your research as a test case!! :) Solo continues to intimidate me! :confused3

We seemed to witness a few "less than Disney" attitudes this year, also. And I must say, I thought the CM's totally ignored some situations that they should have said SOMETHING about. ::sigh::...

The fact that the kid high-fived his dad just goes to show you why they say "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"... What a role model. :headache:

Looking forward to hearing if the rain every stopped for you!
