Okay I am determined to finish this sucker and the full trippie got sent to the land of Completed TRs so I can't add the last day. For those readers still hanging around out there, let's make this a wrap!
So what was the delicious frozen drink? Did you say Grey Goose Slushie? Bingo! I had heard alot about them and let me say, it did not disappoint!
All this time I was wandering World Showcase and doing a lot of walking. And it was scorchingly hot. I was getting texts from my friend, she had made a wrong turn and her arrival was pushed even later. Finally it was getting close so I started walking to the gate to see if I could meet her there. More texting and she was in line. Then I saw her! Yeah! She was a dear friend from college and it had been years since we had seen each other.
We decided to meander World Showcase. I think this is the day I did more walking than any other day of the trip. We walked and talked and talked and walked. It was great to catch up. We ended up at Tokyo Dining and had some sushi. We were seated immediately without an ADR (it was around 3pm I think) and the CMs were so friendly and sweet. This is a restaurant I would definately return to.
After we ate we walked to the front as she had to head out. We had a great albeit short visit and I was glad she came out from Tampa to see me for a few hours. As she headed home I hopped a bus to Pop. I wanted to just go back for a short bit and decide what to do with my evening.
I went to my room, did a little packing and decided to go back to DHS for the night. The storms were a brewing so thankfully I had another poncho. Grabbed a bus and once we got to DHS it was not only monsoon raining but it was the craziest, scariest thunder and lightening. Did I mention how much I hate lightening? I made it to just past one of the ticket booths and waited under a covering. Some people were waiting as well, others scurrying about. There was a woman from England with a little boy and he looked so scared. The thunder was so loud and just seemed like it was cracking right above us. I was not a happy camper. At all. I waited there for what seemed like 30 minutes. Finally the light show seemed to slow down so I made my way into the park.
I think I rode Tower of Terror one more time, can never get enough of that. I think I might have done the Animation Studio again too? It is a foggy memory. I know I did buy one of those delicious chocolate dipped, sprinkly covered huge apples. Mmmmmmm!
At this point I have my treat and it is still wet. I am wet. I am tired. And I've had enough. So I went back to Pop and called it a night. Called it a trip you might say. ME was coming for me at 6am so this was it.
I finished packing, ate my apple and went to bed.
The next day I caught ME, it was quick and easy and Orlando airport was a breeze. My flight was on time and I landed in CT around noon and was home around 1pm.
So there you have it, my Solo trip! Would I do it again? Maybe someday. But it was one of those things I kind of just needed to do once. I got it out of my system and right now I'm looking forward to trips with my kids and family. If the time and circumstance were right sometime down the road I could do it again though. Actually what I can see is perhaps a trip with Grumpy someday where he doesn't do the parks but instead golfs or just does pool time and I do the parks alone and we meet up for dinners or things at night. He, as you know, doesn't love the parks so I could see doing them alone and then doing other things with him. That could be fun!
I am so glad I did it though, really glad. It wasn't just a trip to Disney for me. It was more than that. It was a challenge to myself to enjoy a trip alone, to see if I could do it. To feel comfortable in my own skin with just myself for company. I enjoyed the chance to meet some DISers and see some of my old friends too. I loved being able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. I loved seeing Disney the way I wanted to see Disney.
Belle and I are leaving in 10 weeks (sounds better than 70 days!) for our Mother Daughter Extravaganza. I'm tempted by the idea of a Pre Trippie and maybe I will start one. I just feel like I completely slacked in finishing this one and I had done so well with previous ones, keeping them current. This trip with Belle has some new stuff for us though so it could make a nice report. We are doing Free Dining, the Disney parks plus Discovery Cove and Sea World. Plus any trip with Mom and Tween Aged Daughter has the potential for some amusing moments!
Until next time folks! To my loyal readers thanks for sticking with me on this one!
