I know, duh right?
but it really is in terms of "being" places you can't get to IYKWIM
This is Cambridge University's 800th, and I really wanted to be there for some of the events (I graduated with an MPhil in 1995) but the economy scuppered those plans. However, thanks to the internet, I am currently listening to the Proms on BBC3 live from Royal Albert Hall. They are performing a program of all Cambridge composers and have several Cambridge choirs including the amazing King's College Choir.
I am sad that I couldn't be there but it is so cool to still be able to listen in real time. It is astonishing to think that while I was there, not so long ago, I used a PINE mailer for email and there was this very new interface called Mosaic that I could use to view files (now graphics of course!). Man, I am dating myself!
