The Insanity Continues: Volume 5 (July 2013) - Updated 7/21 - Fulton's

Just got back from WDW, and I'm really enjoying your pictures and reviews. :goodvibes

Sorry your service at The Wave was so disappointing. Our service a few days ago was fine, but the salads had too much dressing. Also, I loved the idea of the build-your-own burger but I don't eat red meat - great idea subbing in chicken! :thumbsup2

We might have passed each other then since we just got back yesterday!

Sorry to hear your salads had too much dressing, at least you got service. I think the lady was just not having a good day which isn't the best in the service industry but it happens.

We probably will end up there in October since we will be there for 8 nights and as its at our resort, it will be an easy pick.

The Dining Room At Wolfgang Puck

We had originally planned on eating at Flying Fish. I had made a comment to my husband earlier in the week at home that we were eating at 3 different seafood restaurants and that maybe we should change one of our 3 choices. He decided on skipping Flying Fish as he knew he would end up with the NY Strip there & figured we can get decent steak at home. I planned on eating at Dining Room At Wolfgang Puck as this has been a place we keep making reservations for but always end up not going through with eating there. As we were at SSR, we had no excuses for not going through with it as getting to DTD was easier than dealing with the buses and such.

Now after Splitsville, we both were, um, super cheerful. We checked in at 6:00pm and where told to go upstairs to be seated. We were sat next to the window near the front of the restaurant.

View Outside Our Table

Other view from our table

Our server was quick to greet us. He was a bit strange. My husband was wearing a shirt that referenced the lemon grenades from Portal. When the server made a comment about it, I joked about the game. He apparently didn't get it. Opps! He had no idea what Portal was. (Most people that see that shirt & comment have played before)

We passed on getting cocktails as we didn't need them. I had an unsweetened tea while my husband had a diet coke.

On the original menus I had seen online, they had listed duck spring rolls. They weren't on the menu now. As nothing else appetizer wise stood out to me, I skipped on an appetizer & since I didn't get one, my husband skipped too.

Rosemary Bread

Organic Chicken - oven roasted wild mushrooms, honey glazed carrots potato puree with natural rosemary jus

My husband likes his chicken. We do tend to eat a lot of chicken during the week as its always quick to make. He really liked this chicken.

Lobster Maki - a tempura roll with fresh lobster, hass avocado, sweet soy glaze, and spicy masago aioli

I went for something different. I've started liking lobster sushi rolls around Naples so I figured why not try theirs. The roll itself was outstanding. The sweet soy with spicy aioli worked really well with the sweet tender lobster. What I didn't like is that the claws in the back were not deshelled yet fried. I should have looked more closely before I bit into the claw but when I did bite in, I was not happy to find shell in my mouth. I had to pick off all the breading to get the meat out of the shell. Not exactly what I wanted to be doing in a nicer restaurant.

We passed on dessert as we figured we would walk around DTD & I might pick up something from the candy store to eat later at the room.

We enjoyed the restaurant and will eventually go back but it won't be a must do for us.

Candy Cauldron

On our way back to the hotel, I picked up 2 treats from Candy Cauldron.

Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup & Mint Chocolate Brownie

I ended up eating the Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup later that night after I went for a long swim. It was ok. It wasn't anywhere near as good as a Reese's though.

I ate the brownie the next day. I should have had that the first night! Much better than the peanut butter cup.

Artist's Palette

We headed back to the counter service at Saratoga Springs for breakfast on our final full day.

Mickey Waffles with Bacon

My husband went with Mickey Waffles as he wanted to switch it up from what he had gotten the past couple days. They were standard Mickey Waffles so he had no complaints.

Croissant Sandwich w/ only bacon & cheese

This was the same thing as I ordered on Thursday but it was made differently. :confused3

I think I preferred Thursday's better with the cheese sauce rather than processed american cheese product. It was still a decent breakfast for a morning at Hollywood Studios!

It's definitely possible that we passed each other! And I hope your next meal at The Wave has better service. The food there is normally very good IMO, so I'm sure we'll also be back eventually.

And thanks for your review of the Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck! I don't see reviews for there very often.

Great reviews!!! Splitsville looks like a lot of fun, if nothing else I would go for the drinks.LOL:lmao:

I'm happy I finally actually made it to the Dining Room. Its been on my list for years but we kept cancelling reservations or changing our minds last minute. I just wish I was a little less happy so we could have enjoyed more of the food.

The one good thing about the drinks is if you buy the squeeze cup @ 14.50, all refills for it are 9.50 for that category of drinks. You can also bring back the cup again and again. The cup is now in my pile of Disney Vacation Stuff as most trips we do end up at DTD at least once.

Rose & Crown Pub

After a morning at Hollywood Studios, we took a leisurely boat ride over to EPCOT. First stop for us was to get a drink!

Two Magners Ciders

They were fresh from the tap and ice cold!

For beating the heat, it was a nice way to cool down as we continued our journey around the world before lunch.

La Cantina de San Angel

Churritos with milk caramel

During our walk around the world, we enjoyed a snack in Mexico. My husband loves churros & wanted some so we stopped by the counter service. It wasn't busy.

We did get to have a show watching a bird eat stuff people left unattended.

L'Artisan des Glaces

Although we had lunch reservations about 30 minutes as we got to France, we decided that its vacation & we can get dessert first.

G8n1gnH.jpg

Mint Chocolate Chip in Waffle Cone

My husband was boring & went for the exact same as he did 2 days prior. He still loved it though & calls it the highlight of his trip.

I went for something different!

Melon & Pomegranate Sorbet w/ Grand Marnier

This was a lot more refreshing than the one I had two days prior. The melon and pomegranate worked really well together with the liquor.

We were able to sit in the shade and have a relaxing few moments as we enjoyed our desserts before lunch!

I really do think we will be spending a lot of time in L'Artisan des Glaces on our next trip!

The mint choc chip looks really great, is it a vanilla ice cream with the mint choc chips in or does the ice cream have a mint flavor as well?

Going back there might have been a factor in going back to EPCOT on our last full day. Its vanilla ice cream with mint chocolate chips.

I'm soooooooooooooo wanting to try the salted caramel ice cream in France! I had it at Busch gardens a few weeks ago & it was good but it was gelato wonder how it compares to WDW's

Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews! I've really enjoyed the diversity in your restaurant choices.

Lunch at The Wave particularly caught my eye; Build Your Own Burger really appeals to me and your subbed chicken looked delicious. We've booked breakfast at The Wave for our November trip, fingers crossed we have a better experience with our server.

Your husband's entree at Wolfgang Puck looks and sounds beautiful. Chicken isn't something I tend to order when we eat out (like you we eat it often at home - boyfriend won't eat any other meat, other than variants of ground beef which I happen to hate) but I'd definitely make an exception for that dish.

I like that you often skip dessert to pick something up elsewhere. I think that's a tactic we'll definitely employ during our trip.

Your food photos are fantastic, thanks again! Looking forward to many more reviews from you now that you're settled in Naples.

It was really good! This was freshly made at that shop which makes it much better.

I'm glad you are enjoying them. This was a different trip for us as we ended up eating at 4 new places to me, 5 new places for my husband. For such a short trip, it was a good variety.

Enjoy your breakfast at the Wave! We probably will end up there sometime in October as we are BLT. My husband loves his chicken but we do tend to go out to eat a lot so I get to have something else with not having to cook two different meals for the two of us.

This was also the first time we really use that tactic of picking up dessert later. We are going to be using it again too.

I'm loving these reviews! I sure could go for some boozy ice cream right now. ;)

So could I!

I actually haven't had a single drink since being home & I think there is some cider in the fridge calling my name this afternoon.

Chefs de France

After our boozy ice cream, we headed to our lunch reservations at Chefs de France. We had decided that morning while waiting on Hollywood Studios to open to eat lunch there as we wanted an excuse to get more ice cream and head into EPCOT.

Since we were having lunch after having those snacks, we weren't exactly that hungry.

Waiting to be seated

Our server was in her first week of the college exchange program and super sweet. You could tell she was new with making sure the normal questions were asked exactly with the right wording. (It also showed at the end when she asked for ID on my TIW as she was the first person to do that all trip)

We skipped on having appetizers & enjoy the bread.

French Bread

While we were waiting, we had a little guest.

Remy was in a funny mood this afternoon as he asked why my husband was wearing a tablecloth. :rotfl2: I hadn't previously warned my husband that this place has a character but he enjoyed that.

As for lunch,

V9pJtYE.jpg

Half of an all-natural rotisserie chicken w/ Potatoes and Broccoli

I think my husband had a tour of chicken around Disney this trip. He found the chicken to be very moist & the broccoli was perfectly cooked. He told me to book place again this for October.

Flatbread baked with creme fraiche, onion and bacon

I had the same as I did back in February. The flatbread is great with tons of bacon and onion on the super thin crispy flatbread. I was only able to eat about half sadly.

We skipped on desserts as we both had too much to eat and headed back to the resort for some swimming before we had our final dinner for this trip.

Ooh we are excited to try Chef's for the first time in December :)

What time was your ADR as I would love to see Remy!
