The Inlaws are coming, the Inlaws are coming. June 2-12-2011 PTR- UPDATED 10/20

Ok we're going to go on haitus for a little over a week. Madeline, Duncan, and I are flying out to California on Tuesday. I'm super nervous about the 4 hour flight with a 2 month old. I envision a lot of angry passengers in our future. ah well

Hopefully when we return I can get down to the nitty gritty of trip planning.

I'm a bit nervous to try Boma. Last time Eric had African food he got really sick. His cousin's husband is from South Africa so they cooked us a meal once. Eric was sick for a couple of days. Don't need that in Disney ;).

Maybe we should try that French restaurant that has Remy.. what's that called again?

Good idea to avoid African!!! That could be very, very bad.

Chefs de France has Remy - I've read some really great reviews of it!

I hope the flight goes well....maybe just maybe the little one will sleep...! There is always hope, right? Enjoy California!

Have a fun trip! does he take a pacifier hopefully that will help any ear problems and you won't have a cranky baby. Good Luck! and pixiedust: for a safe and uneventful (quite) flight!!!

Hey Shannon!
Just checking in to say Hi! I hope Duncan does ok on the flights!! Have you thought of Hacienda or Via Napoli for Epcot? - those are the two new places!! (I am sure you already know about them!!)

We're home. I'm exhausted. Duncan did fantastic on the flights,it was the rest of the time that was challenging. ;)

While I was gone I hatched a plan for DisneyLAND 2014. hehehe

Our tentative plan for 2014 is to go in October for our 10 year anniversary. We'll spend some time by my grandma and then drive (8hours) to Disneyland and spend some time there and in San Diego doing some things.

Our other plan is to go to Hawaii. We'll see what we do when the time comes. My grandma is 81 now though so will be 85 in 2014 so I'm leaning towards going there since you just never know.

Glad to hear the flights went well....too bad about the rest of the time though! :headache:

I like your idea for Disneyland! I am hoping to make it out there in 2012. We'll see though, might be more like 2013 or 2014, I want to do a whole adventure through CA since we have never been there. The refurb over there is supposed to be done by 2012, right?

I have no idea when the refurb is going to be done but they've been working on it for quite a while right? I'd think it would be done before FL expansion though since they started first.

I'd love to stay at the Grand Californian but I have a feeling we'll be staying at something more like the HoJo :rotfl: I'm not sure if there are any time share properties out there that we can exchange ours for.

I really need to get back into planning mode. So far I have:
Day 1 - June 2 (I just realized Madeline will miss her last day of school)
leave around 4am
stop for breakfast around 8 or 9am I think in Kentucky or so
stop for lunch around noon
stop for the night in Valdosta Georgia
might have to have a dinner stop in there depending on where we are in Georgia

Day 2- June 3
wake up around 8am
eat continental breakfast
leave hotel by 9am
9:30 quick stop at Florida welcome center (it's tradition)
12pm arrive at Dolphin
check in
go to Beaches and Cream for lunch
after lunch go swimming/explore the resorts
Dinner will probably be in the food court at the Dolphin
get annual passes if we don't order tickets from undercover tourist to upgrade
7-8pm get kids (and probably us) in bed

Saturday June 4- DHS
7am- wake up and get everyone ready
7:40 head to DHS by boat for 8am EMH
8AM enter park and head right for the Star Wars area... I may get TSM fast passes for everyone

at some point during this day we need to go check into the condo. I'm guessing we'll take a mid day break to do this. We'll also need to get some groceries this day. I may leave Eric and Madeline at the park and just do this myself or we'll just make it an early night.

Sunday June 5- ???
I was thinking maybe Magic Kingdom but I have no idea how busy this day will be.

Monday June 6- ??
either Animal Kingdom or Epcot

Tuesday June 7- Off Day
I think we'll need an off day to just rest. We'll probably do some of the activities at eh resort this day. We could also just spend the morning doing whatever and then head to dowtown disney or something. Maybe GF tea this day.

Wednesday June 8- ??

either Epcot or Ak whichever one we didn't do on Monday

Thursday June 9- MK
I need to figure out busy days here again

Friday June 10- DHS
This is Star Wars weekend again so we'll visit here and make it an early night

Saturday June 11- head home 4am.

The only solid, solid plans are the DHS days.

We want to do Tusker house breakfast on our AK day and most likely Crystal Palace breakfast on one of our MK days. I'm thinking that we'll bring our lunch into the parks most days. I do want to try the Plaza on this trip though.

ok change in plans already. I just looked at touring plans crowd calendar so we'll be doing this

Sat June 4- DHS
Sun June 5- MK
Mon June 6- Epcot
Tue June 7- off day
Wednesday June 8- MK
Thursday June 9- AK
Friday June 10- DHS, maybe split half day here and half day at MK

That sounds like a great trip to me! Parks and rest, 2 DHS days, 2 MK days. Don't you just love Touring Plans??? :thumbsup2

On June 6, be sure to stop at the awesome Fountain of the Nations and think of me - it'll be my 32nd birthday and I LOVE that fountain!!

Your prelimanary plans sound great so far!!!
and while you are making a special wish for brookelizabeth on June 6 don't forget to add one for Danny and I it will be our 25th anniversary that day :yay: I'll have to remember to wish brookelizabeth a happybday! ;)

sure thing. I wonder what the IL's will think with all of these moments of reflection.

We were at the inlaws last night. I got to briefly talk with FIL about food. He seems to be in the same mindset as us... breakfast buffets. He said that they never made their trips about food. So with that said I get to pick whatever I (we) want. :)

I'm thinking Crystal Palace and Tusker House for breakfast, although I'm toying with the idea of Askerhaus because of the princesses. Is it any good?

I'm going to reserve the tea at the Grand Floridian also.

The Plaza prices seem reasonable but FIl did mention that Lady and the Tramp is his favorite movie so now I'm considering Tony's.

I also think the il's may get a kick out of either the 50's prime time cafe or Sci fi.

I think I'll skip ADR's at Ak and epcot unless we decide to do Askerhaus.

I also need a restaurant for date night. We really loved Ohana last year but we're open to something new also. Thoughts?

I'll have to remember you on that day as well! Congratulations!!!

Hmmm....date night. Is the only thing you want to do is eat? Or are you going to hit a park late night too? We did Cali Grill on ours in December; however, it's pricey. It was awesome though!

I think Kona is really nice and has good food. Artists Point at WL has awesome food too - I think it's a signature though, in case you didn't want to go that route.

We did 50's with the whole family last year and it was a blast!!!! It's so much fun with a bigger group!

I think we're going to do either Chefs or Tutto for date night. Then we can stay for Illuminations if we want. Last time we had datenight we did Whispering CC and then headed to the MK for spectro and some rides.

How is everyone doing? I don't have much going on at this point as far as trip planning goes. I should be concentrating on losing weight. Madeline is home from school sick today. She has a fever but no other symptoms. It's odd. Duncan is currently in his crib CIO. I'm trying to sleep train him a bit. He doesn't yet sleep in his crib but I want him to. Too bad Madeline keeps trying to go in his room. haha I bought a baby einstein music thingy for the crib... it has a remote so I can restart it if need be without being seen. I think I'll let him go about 5 minutes... it's been 2 or 3 at this point.

I think I've got our ADR's figured out. I wonder if I'll get any of them though since I believe it's still free dining when we're there and all of those people get to make them before we can.

Hey Shannon,
I like the sound of Tutto from all the comments I have read and the food to me just sounds better.

I hope Madeline feels better and that Duncan starts to like his crib better.

Have a great one!

Thanks for coming to check in Connie. It's a bit lonely here but I don't blame anyone for not chatting since there isn't much planning going on right now. I'm actually doing more research on our 2012 trip. We'll be staying at our beloved harbour lake again but we want to stay an additional week so I've been checking out the Bonnet Creek thread. :)

I might order Madeline a princess dress from the Disney store since they just went to 40% off. Which one should I get?

Also I just reread the email from my MIL is it says she won't be coming til the 6th which is the Monday of our trip. So I'm rethinking which day we'll take as our day off.
