Thank you so much for the advice...he is worried about the donor site - the nurses and docs are preparing him for the fact this will be more painfull - he is very worried but maybe it will be less than his fears so he will not think it is so bad...Hi Dawn,
My thoughts go out to you and your family. I know this must be a difficult time for you.
This summer I went through something similiar with my mother. She had an infection in her back and it took multiple surgeries to get it out. To close up where they went in they had to do a skin graft from her leg. This time was an emotional rollacoaster. I can't even imagine what it must feel like when it is one of your own children.
All I want to say is hang in there because better days are ahead. The next couple of weeks are going to be very rough on you and Baylor. In the end he will recover and bouceback. He is a kid and can be tougher than you think. Two last pieces of advice would be to make sure he takes them up on the pain meds. The donor site is probably going to end up hurting more than the burns. Second, make sure he does the rehab and exercises!
Best wishes!
Ken
