Was me!!! :sad2:

I had used one of their new little carts and thought I was just so organized. I chose a line with two people ahead of me. The first one had what I thought was a fairly medium-sized order (from what I could see around the second person) so I blithely placed my items on the belt in a compact manner, complete with my Kroger plus card and two coupons. I noticed that the lady behind me didn't have a cart but just a few items in her hand...

The customer in front of me had only a soda...

The cashier greeted me fairly warmly and I was very organized and put the bags in my cart immediately when she turned them around because there was no bagger in that line...

I had considered writing a check rather than using my debit card but decided on the card THANK GOD...

Only after I finished my transaction did I notice I was getting the stink eye from the lady behind me...and you know why...

I twirled around on my way out and saw the big honkin EXPRESS LANE 15 ITEMS OR LESS sign on the register.

I was so flustered that I couldn't find my car in the parking lot for a minute and I guiltily loaded the bags into my trunk thinking, "well maybe I only had a few over the limit.."

So I checked the receipt after I got in my car and found that I had bought 29 items, used two coupons, and had gotten cash back...

All in the Express Line!

But luckily I live in a small town so maybe it was due to the fact that we love one another especially on Sunday that nobody pointed out that I am an idiot of extraordinary caliber.

P.S. Of course two of the items were six packs of Sam Adams for DH and our town is predominantly Baptist...:rotfl:

LOL you heathen

I did this yesterday too :sad2: I was in the express lane at Walmart and I admit I was a few items over the 15 item limit. It wasn't busy so I thought no big deal :rolleyes1 After I paid for my items I noticed I was looking at a sign offering 15% back on some card and the express line was for 10 items or under. I got home and counted my items. I had 19! Quite a few over the 10 item limit.

I got my Karma though because I went back to Walmart last night to do a return and they had closed 2 minutes before I got there:headache: Now I have to go stand in line to do a return for one stinking pair of shorts.

Well, I am SHOCKED!!!

Shocked that you can buy beer on a Sunday in a predominantly Baptist town! :lmao:

(seriously, no alcohol sales here on Sunday)

It's good though, for us all to be reminded that maybe what we seems from our point of view to be rudeness or stupidity is just someone making an innocent mistake. We should all cut each other a little more slack.

lol! I did the same thing when DD worked at our local grocery store...I saw her working the register and thought I'd go through her line and say hi. It was only after I put all my things on the belt that I noticed the stink eye...coming from DD! She was working an express line:headache:I felt so stupid and she was completely annoyed with me:laughing:

If however, you got several items that were all the same, say 15 cans of tuna, than you were under the limit. ;)

I don't believe that would be true. They seem to mostly scan each item individually, even if they are the same product.

Did you leave your cart in the parking lot or put it in a corral? ;)

I put my cart in the corral where it promptly crashed into the plastic garbage bin which was also inhabiting the corral!

Good thing our town has 3 other grocery stores so I can avoid Kroger for awhile.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your anecdotes. I feel much better now!! :goodvibes

That will teach you for buying beer on a Sunday in a predominately Baptist town! ;)

I only have two comments:

1. Haven't heard the phrase "stink eye" in eons. Thanks for the laugh. :lmao:

2. Don't you love those new little Kroger carts?

I accidentally got in the 15 items or less line once, and didn't realize it until I was almost finished. I felt bad about it, but life goes on. :)

Aw, :flower3: You didn't do it on purpose.

Around here if there are lines at the regular check outs, but no one in the express lane they will sometimes call you over and check you out, even if you have a huge cart full of stuff so then if someone else comes up behind them with only a few things they wouldn't realize it wasn't the person's fault and would probably give them dirty looks. That's why I refuse to go over there, if they call me over and I have a lot. I don't want anyone giving me the evil eye. :)

Eh, I certainly wouldn't think twice about it. It was a mistake and the cashier didn't say anything.

Personally, as the person behind you , I would have been a lot more annoyed if you used a check to pay. Why do that???

I pay by check all the time, sorry that would annoy you. :confused3

The register prints everything on it, so I don't even have to take the time to write it. And it doesn't take any longer than someone who has to swipe their debit/credit card, wait for the approval, sign their name and tap accept.

:rolleyes1If you look at you receipt again, i"m sure you'll see it was okay as, you only had two items, food & nonfood!!! :dance3: btdt :dance3:

As for the payment method, anything beats those ladies, with a suitcase sized purse, who insist on digging clear to the bottom, for that last penny of exact change!!!

I was at the store today and they had two express lanes open that were empty and when I got into one of the regular lines I noticed that people with under 15 items were all in the regular lanes.
I was confused lol

Lol, they're the worst. Or those who use checks but fill out the ENTIRE thing when paying... uh, can't you fill out the date, the store name and the memo line BEFORE the pay time? You can even do it in line if you need to.

Or anyone who waits until being told the total to START to unearth the wallet or checkbook from their pocket or purse. Makes me nuts...as if the process of having to pay was something completely new to them.
