Hi

,
I havent had too much to report, which will likely change this weekend, but I thought Id share with you Joes birthday weekend trip. This was a milestone birthday for him. Every year we go to Niagara Falls, Ontario with our friends, E and B to celebrate both Joe and Bs birthdays. We got a great package at the Sheraton on the Falls:
2 nights stay in a falls view room with a fireplace
$40 voucher for the spa
$40 voucher for the Fallsview Restaurant
$40 voucher for the hoity-toity restaurant at the Crown Plaza next door
2 drinks at the Hard Rock each night
2 tours to 2 different wineries in the area
We look forward to going on this trip every year. We usually go for one night and spend most of our time in the casino.
We left on a Friday night and of course, that day, there was an ice storm. We usually take turns driving either our car or theirs but this year, since Joe got rid of the Armada (I am still upset), E drove up.

We met them at their house mid-afternoon and started the drive up. We did hit a couple of patches of ice on the way so it took a bit longer than usual.
As we do each year, we stopped in Angola for a snack, which actually turned out to be dinner. The guys opted for McDs while B and I opted for something different. B and pizza and I had a yummy salad. B usually gets these raspberry strudel thingys each year so we stopped for those and for a cookie for Joe before heading to the car. I had asked him to get a shamrock shake so that I could have a sip and that turned out to be a fiasco. There were a zillion people behind the counter all chatting about something stupid and not working at all. The couple in front of Joe ordered shakes as well. They made their shakes and put them off to the side. Then, they made them again and gave them to the couple. When Joe ordered his they tried to give him one that was sitting there melting for the last 5 minutes. Yeah, that didnt go over well. All I could think of was all that for me to have 2 sips! Ugh
.
We arrived at the border and I have to say, this border guard was the toughest that we have encountered so far. He asked a zillion questions and was pretty inquisitive. I dont mind though and honestly, I was hoping it would be the same when we returned to the US as well.
We crossed over into Canada and headed for our hotel. It was dark out and my camera wasnt handy so I dont have much to share.
We checked into the hotel and E & B had a room on the 7th floor. We had hoped to be on the same floor but no such luck. They put us on 11 which was nice but OMG, the elevators in that place are horrific to say the least. There were a zillion people at the hotel and since there is a water park there too, half of them were wet and in bathing suits and jammed into the elevators. Not to mention, you wait for at least three before there is room to get on. Eh, who cares, we were on a mini vacation.
We got to our room and were so surprised to see that there was a tv in the bathroom. Yay, that means I could watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the morning while getting ready
.. Oh toodles
Here are a few pictures of our room.
Check out this basket. If you took the entire basket, they would charge you $180
