The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

It’s interesting to read that the room is quiet, you have an EPCOT firework view, and that you won’t do it again in the same sentence.

You also mentioned that the pool view is better point wise, aren’t they the same amount of points?

The DVC boardwalk side is definitely a dead zone with Jellyrolls gone.
So we would not do it again mainly because of the walk to the room. It is a long way to fill resort mugs, get coffee, or just about anything. Having a fireworks view is nice and I'm glad we did it.
As for the points, Correct, I misspoke.

Where do you go to refill resort mugs and get coffee? I am still learning the resort and we got spoiled with club lounge.

You go to the Boardwalk Deli, where you can buy the mugs. Coffee is also available in the lobby across from where they sell espresso and pastries. The Deli opens at 7:00 and the other at 6:30. Some resorts also let you fill at the pool bars, but I do not know if that is the case at BWV.

You can refill soda there at the bar pool, but we could tell the bartenders weren't thrilled to do it.

Hello,

we always stay at BCV and Poly.
This year in August we want to try the BWV and booked a Garden View Studio
what room request would you make ? we like a ground floor room near the lobby at BCV because we will have a stroller and dont like to walk the halways. i think the pool view would be a good request?

Is there still no mug refill station in the boardwalk resort ? so only the one at the deli? We want to take a few breaks at the pool.

We have been coming to BWV since 96 and until this trip always booked a pool view. The lobby is on floor 2. I would request a room near the elevator on floor 1 or 2. We like floor 2 better since you get a balcony and don't have to worry about the young ones darting out of the room. There is a quiet pool, but that is at the far end of the resort. The community center is also next to the quiet pool. We had a room over looking the quiet pool once. It was great, but it was a long walk to the lobby.
There are 3 elevators on the villa side. We never have to wait long for one.
As far as the refillable mugs, You get them at the deli and that is the refill station as well. As a previous post said, you can fill them at the pool bar as well, maybe.

We love BWV. The Boardwalk itself has suffered over the years with the closure of ESPN zone, Big River brewery, and Now Jelly Rolls. That being said, they still have performers that do shows along the boardwalk. Cake Bake Shop replaced ESPN zone, but at 22 bucks for a slice of cake, I will pass! We did not get a reservation at the Cake Bake shop restaurant, so I cannot speak to that. All in all it is a nice relaxed vibe. There are activities for the kiddos, but that is common among DVC properties. It is an easy walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We usually take the boat, however. I really love the boats! You cannot beat the location.

The deli, corn dog cart and pizza window are the QS options at the moment. There is also a great Ice Cream Parlor.

One last thing. We are older and rent a car for our trips. We valet park at least the first night as the trip in from the parking lot can be very long.

Hope you have a great trip! and Welcome Home.

Good advice from @RickNJane above. I’ll add to it by saying that if afternoon naps are in the plans, then I’d request “View of Quiet Pool.” The Luna Park pool view can be very noisy in the afternoon when the CMs are leading activities using loudspeakers. It’s a longer walk to and from the elevator, but having had my afternoon naps ruined in past, I’d prefer the longer walk through the hallway!

We have always loved staying at BWV since we purchased a couple of decades ago. We recently stayed there (after staying elsewhere for a few trips) and to my surprise they have started infusing a lot of fragrance into the lobby and also there was fragrance in the villas (so I had nowhere to get away from it). I’m dreadfully allergic to fragrance so I spent the week with massive headaches and problems sleeping when my airways would try to close up.

Another thing I noticed this trip….
I chose a standard view 1BR and I was reminded at how many standard studios are being rented out to non-owners. It was obviously a different type of guest than what I remember. Much louder and lots of families yelling down the halls, etc. Just can’t remember Deluxe Guests acting this way, both early morning and late night. The indoor hallways make it harder to tune it out. We decided we won’t stay here again unless I can reserve BW view. I doubt that view gets rented out as much.

Did you let resort management know? They should have at least turned off or minimized the fragrance in your villa while you were there, and they also need to realize that you’re not the only person who’s allergic to fragrance.

And whether you talked to BWV management while there or not, please send an email to DVC management via the link on the member website or dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com, to make them aware.

How can you identify a "non-owner"?

Sounds like the "non-owners" are bad? The "Deluxe" guests are probably over at the VGF.

I would love to hear from others as to whether there was fragrance in their villas. Is it being infused into all of the villas? Or was it an attempt to fix a problem in this particular villa, and the solution employed (cleaning product? air freshener?) unfortunately involved a fragrance?

I know, right? I just got back from my bucket list trip of finally staying at Boardwalk. I rented points because that is the only way I would be able to afford it. And the. I read that post and felt like a peasant who had the gall to rise above my station.

Seriously though, I am a people watcher. While at the pool on two separate days, all the guests were lovely. I saw families having a blast. I saw people on “girls trips” lounging by the pool. I saw honeymooning couples and older retirees. Never once did I say “they don’t belong” about anyone and I certainly hope no one thought that about me or my family. In the hallways, I never heard anyone being excessively loud. Maybe I heard excited kids ready for their park day, but that always makes me smile. My stay at Boardwalk lived up to and exceeded my expectations and I feel so fortunate to have been able to rent points to make that dream come true.

I did not smell it in our studio. We were there just 3 weeks ago for 10 days in a 3rd floor studio not far from the elevators. I smelled the fragrance in the lobby every time I went, but I did not smell it in our room. I know because the different resort fragrances are something I look forward to, so I’m very conscious of it.

It's similar concept how some don't like Airbnb in their community. There is a difference to owning vs renting.

Doesnt mean it applies to you and no one truly knows who rents vs owns so it's an assumption that the worst offenders of a specific type.

Rented in the past and own now. Renting is great way for people to afford nicer rooms at Disney.

If the halls were loud I'm sorry as nobody wants to experience that but you do realize Pool/Garden rooms are generally across from the standard rooms and boardwalk view rooms right?
I'm not sure how you could possibly single out the standard view bookers unless it was the lock-off studio to your 1 bedroom that was causing the ruckus.
Most of the point rental I would figure would be pool Garden View as those are much easier to book then standards but I still wouldn't blame non-owners as some owners can be just as noisy.

Okay guys, I give in. Look at it this way…by my not staying at BWV with my points, everyone else has a better chance getting their villa. I’m guessing our age is showing and we will choose quieter settings from now on. I don’t discourage others to enjoy BWV. We did for years. 😁
