The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

We have returned from our two-night Boardwalk stay (rest of trip was cash stay at CBR since we just bought DVC a few months ago but were extremely lucky to score our first two nights at BWV). Thank you so much to everyone who helped me make a room request! We got kind of what we asked for (Village Green view, high floor) and got Village Green 3rd floor with the massive balcony and we LOVED it! The view was wonderful, and we have fallen in love with the resort!
Awesome! What room category are those rooms?

There is one downside to the Village Green Rooms. The second floor rooms directly above Wyland Galleries have essentially no view because it is blocked by the high arches of the Wyland store. See https://www.disboards.com/attachments/village-green-jpeg.730804/ which looks across Village Green at the DVC rooms. Notice the balconies of the second floor rooms inside the arches. If you request a Village Green room, you should always also request high floor.

Preferred pool/garden view. They are all studios.
There is one dedicated 1BR, on the corner near the Screen Door. We had that one once, when those villas were classified as BW view. When we checked in we asked to move because the view was not directly onto the BW. I guess we weren’t the only ones to complain because they reclassified them to P/G view shortly after. Ironically we ended up liking the room because it was larger than most 1BR at BWV. We didn’t get to enjoy the extra-large balcony, though, because they were painting the exterior of the building.

Thanks for posting this. We had that room once also when we had booked BW view. I think reclassifying it as pool/garden was the right thing to do since it overlooks the Village Green and not directly onto the BW.

Are the boardwalk view rooms dedicated? Had a bad experience with connecting rooms in another hotel and don’t want to deal again lol thanks

See this map showing the rooms overlooking the boardwalk: https://www.disboards.com/media/bwv-boardwalk-view.62896/ There are eight dedicated studios and nine 1BRs in that area. There are no dedicated 2BRs at BWV.

As to noise, even in the dedicated rooms, you will notice some at night from outside on the boardwalk, occasional boat horns all day and evening, and boardwalk clean-up crews in the morning along the boardwalk. Inside, you can hear guests who are being noisy when walking down the hall, and a little more from an adjoining lock-off room when occupants are being noisy than you will get in the dedicated, neither of which have I found to be annoying but that opinion varies depending on the person's sensitivity to noise.

Where is the lock off located in the room? The one I stayed in at GF BPK was in front of the bed. Thanks

They are in the living area between the small murphy bed and the wall to the outside. We were in a pool/garden studio and could hear our neighbors because of that door. I put a towel down to muffle the noise and we used white noise machines at night.

We had this same room. Splurged on BW view for our 20th anniversary and walked in and saw the fabulous view...of a giant tree. I also asked to be moved, and we were.

Thanks for the info. This is what I don't want to do again. Shouldn't have to with the money spent for these rooms. Was hoping it would be better at the BWV compared to GF. I'll probably still try it though. ;]

Was hoping they weren't there for the boardwalk view rooms. All the videos I found on YouTube don't show the door and are dedicated. Sigh

Are the walls thin?, as I had issues at GF Big Pine Key. Heard every conversation as if they were in the room with me
I have never had issues at BWV like we had at GF BPK in regards to the sound issues. At BPK we could hear just normal conversations next door. At BWV, you may hear some loud talking/yelling/screaming, but I've never heard conversation level talking through the walls.

Are there ways in and out of BW other than the lobby? I don’t see any staircases or exits to the boardwalk on the map. I’m curious if we stay in a BW view room if we’re stuck hiking back to the lobby just to leave.

We never found appropriate exits for boardwalk view. It’s almost a tease staying above Screendoor yet having to walk all the way back towards the elevators. I did prefer to walk all the way to the end of the hallways and come out at the Tennis court exit when walking to HS. I always beat my travel party that way.

Yes, there’s an exit stairwell that lets you out next to the Screen Door. On your way down the hallway towards the elevator, watch for the exit signs. The ones on the left usually empty to BW. Probably don’t show on the map because they’re emergency exits like the ones at the ends of the hallways, but you can use them. I don’t think you can get back in that way, though.

There are actually no exists from the boardwalk view rooms directly to the boardwalk. A usual way to the boardwalk is via the elevators fairly near the lobby (the only elevators on the BWV side) which you take to the ground floor and exit in the Luna Park pool area but quickly walk through a tunnel that takes you to the courtyard by Wyland Galleries and then you just continue to the boardwalk itself. There is also a staircase from the lobby itself that takes you down to the courtyard area near Wyland.

Then there is a staircase near the end of the boardwalk view rooms which exits on the pool/garden view room side of the building in the area called the Activity Lawn, and once outside you can quickly walk around the building and enter the boardwalk near Atlantic Dance. When we have a boardwalk view room near the end of the boardwalk view area, we often get off the boat after leaving Studios at the Swan/Dolphin boat station (the first stop on the return trip), which is right next to a bridge over which you can walk to BWV near Atlantic Dance and use that staircase to get to your room.
